Her sister is on life support and Jem’s chance for the promotion she has worked so hard for is jeopardised by having to care for her young nephews and niece who wouldn’t know peace and quiet if they sat on it. Enter Eben Stone, someone she has always thought little of due to his womanising ways and apparent lack of ambition beyond surfing the next wave.
With his help juggling parenting and trying to impress her bosses, Jem discovers that there is more to Eben the “Rolling Stone” than she first thought. He woos his way into her reluctant heart amidst underhanded rivalry for the promotion, blackmail among co-workers and the chaos caused by a toddler who knows how to press everyone’s buttons.
Eben even unwittingly makes a dream she had given up on come true.
With her goal within reach Jem has to decide whether her promotion is more important than her new relationship with Eben or can she take a chance and find a way to have it all?
A cute story I read in one day. The kids in the mix provided me with enough funny moments to keep me reading. But I cannot understand how a supposedly educated woman of 32 years can come to the conclusion of being infertile without undergoing medical examination...
Through the course of this year´s reading experience, I found out that I need a little more steam in my romance novels than this book actually provided. I am certainly not the one complaining on amazon about too much sex in a book and appreciating "clean" romance stories. It doesn´t have to be overly descriptive, but I feel left out in an important layer of the relationship of the protagonists...
The back and forth of the hero and his despondency at the end of the story was annoying and drew the read out more than necessary. What I really liked was that the age difference between hero and heroine was handled so mature. No pages long prattling and whining of the female being a cougar and all of this other nonsense I have read in some of my previous reads. It was addressed and they moved on... All in all it was a story, I do not regret having read.
Jem's life is altered the day she receives a call from the emergency services as she is the ICE2 in her sister's phone. Jess has been in an accident and is now in intensive care, but her 3 children still need to be looked after and Jess' husband is in Fiji on a contract that they both need. Jem steps in and with Eben - the friend of Jason's that has always been around - they manage to look after the house and the kids. Jem is up for a major promotion and so fits kids, work, visiting her sister and keeping the house going in somehow - it also includes Eben and her having a "thing"! She has competition at work for the promotion - Mark and his snidy ways look set to disrupt her ambitions!
Thoroughly enjoyed this book and took every opportunity to find out the way this story panned out
