Meg's Review:
I enjoyed this novel as much as the first, if not more. I was a big fan of Jake in the first one and he cemented my love for him in book two.

This book is wonderfully written and drags you into this exciting and adventure filled world. The characters are just as well-developed and very lovable. I ADORED getting to meet in infamous Child that we were so excited about in the first book. Even though its only been a few years, Janel and Jake's child is 13.

Janel has been kidnapped and far, far worse. But she is Janel and she will fight till the end. Jake wants to save her, but still doesn't really know what he feels. I went back and forth with him in this book. Add in running for their lives and fighting their emotions at all costs and you have the makings of a great book.

SavingHisLove

Fans of the first book will love this novel and its story. We are left with a sneak of the third book. Just a tease though, so read at your own risk. I look forward to the next novel in this series. I really enjoyed reading it. As a reader that doesn't read much Sci-Fi Fantasy type books, I would recommend it highly.

DETAILED REVIEW * SPOILER ALERT *

It’s been five years since Jack Reeves last saw Janel Canton, his old high school acquaintance who now commands her own space craft, pursuing the sex-trafficking aliens who kidnapped her when she was just out of high school. Jack met her again at their twentieth high school reunion, and unexpectedly found himself, and his son, thrown into space with her. After that adventure, Jack and Jonathon returned to Earth, where most people have absolutely no idea that such things are happening, and Jack began helping Earth women that Janel rescued from the sex ring find their way back into their home planet’s society.

Time passes differently on Earth than it does in space, so for Janel it’s been considerably more than five years. In fact, the daughter Jack fathered is now closer to thirteen, and she’s an incredible surprise to Jack when he is brought back into space to learn that Janel was captured by the slavers and his help is needed to rescue her. So Jack and Jon find themselves once again involved in the politics and warfare surrounding the alien efforts to put a stop to the sex trafficking. Then, things get even more complicated after they successfully rescue Janel, due to some drastic action she took to exact revenge upon her captors. The result finds Janel, Jack, and their allies engaged in a life-and-death struggle against a new enemy they never anticipated.

I absolutely loved the first book in this series, ‘First Love Never Dies’, and was very eager to read book two. Overall, I was not disappointed. There is a lot more science fiction/action in ‘Saving His Love’ – most of it against an unexpected enemy that any fan of the old British TV series ‘Blake’s 7’ will find fascinating (and I am one such fan). More is revealed about the different alien races and alliances, and how they interact with each other, and readers also learn a great deal more about the functions of the alien spaceships and space stations. Things move very rapidly, and I was pulled in deeper all the time. I finished the book in one session, and the next day I went at it again.

There were a few things in this book that I found difficult to understand, including the details of the time differences. Also, as the action grew more intense, the movements between settings, ship to space station to another ship to a different section of that ship, etc.. were occasionally confusing to me. As with a fair amount of science fiction, these things could possibly be easier to keep straight for those readers who have actually studied real science and/or engineering, but by and large, I didn’t find that it lowered my enjoyment all that much. The politics, the characters and their relationships with each other, once again watching how Jack and Jon interact with and contribute to their alien associates, the intense action, and, always at the core, the romance between Janel and Jack – these grabbed my interest and kept it, all the way through. This series has great possibilities, and Taylor is a good enough author to continue building for however long she chooses.

I rate ‘Saving His Love’ worth 4.5 stars, and I am very grateful for the free reviewer’s copy I was given.

Ahh, where to start...so Jake meets his daughter at the end of book one. As expected, he is a bit upset that Janel did not tell him and he never got to spend any time with her growing up, and she is nearly 13! That doesn't stop him from going back into space to try and rescue Janel. (Um yep, strange how time shifts between space and Earth, but ok. I'm not going to try to understand that one.) Similar to book 1, I can say that I spent quite a bit of time alternating between emphatizing with Jake and wanting to smack him. But as I said in my review of book 1, Janel is not blameless. As a matter of fact, I don't know how two people could fall in love with all of the mistakes they both keeping making.

Janel is one tough cookie. Maybe too tough. Or is that just a facade? After getting captured, tortured, raped, and beaten by the Consortium, she manages to escape by releasing a virus. She is half dead when Jake and team finds her. Unfortunately, she (through no fault of her own) transmits the virus to the ship, which happens to be sentient. Yep, whole lot of sci-fi folks. The ship goes on a killing spree. Although not fully healed from her ordeal at the hands of the Consortium, Janel proceeds to assist with trying to set things right on the ship, and gets captured again...by the sentient being on the ship. In the meantime, Jake goes between being angry with her for all her slights to trying to determine what he feels for her in general to making decisions about HER life that he has no right to make. Thanks to John, Jake has a wake up call and realizes that there IS more to life than sitting around letting it pass him by. Including the chance to love again. Eventually he'll step up again to help with rescuing Janel again, and hopefully grab that happy ever after they are both looking for. I can say that her response to rape was a little glossed over. I don't know how anyone could just put it behind them even if it had happened before and they learned to get past it.

I definitely missed John and didn't get enough of him in this book, but he came through when we needed him. I can say that I'm still not sure when or how Jake finally did fall in love again...if he wasn't hooked by the end of book 1, book 2 didn't give them a whole lot of time or opportunities to grow attached again. Not to mention all of the pushing away they both did. After the soul bonding, I could see how that attachment would grow, but maybe he just needed a nudge to let him know he did feel that strongly 5 years ago and was too scared to act on it. Either way, I did like where we went and hope to see more of this group of characters.

This installment flows smoothly into the action from the first one, which left us with Jake not only face to face with the daughter he didn't even know about, but with the news she brings that Janel has been taken by Gamalu Hursha.
We open with Janel being tortured and apparently it's been going on 6 months now with no rescue in sight.
Princess Tecka ( aka..EJ) is just hearing about capture of her best Captain and friend and is all about planning a rescue, and along with her brother Prnce Cresta, Moren, Jake and other loyal beings, they do just that.
So, well, see, here's the thing (LOL)......Nothing goes as planned, twists, turns and surprises abound......
The action is non stop, the shock and awe is exactly what Margaret Taylor's MO is all about and she doesn't disappoint!
The characters continue to develop throughout the story and new players are developing as they join the fray. All with enough in depth detailing to bring them alive, front and center for this incredible adventure that exceeds the realm of traditional science fiction and gives a whole new meaning to what a " soul mate " truly is.
Above and beyond it all, this is a love story. A story of redemption. A story of rediscovery. A Tale that takes you through a universe of possibilities. Anything, nothing, and evrything can happen.
I recommend this to anyone who believes their ready.....are you ready?

At the end of A First Love Never Dies, Jake meets his daughter for the first time. Derienn drops a bombshell that sees Jake and John head out into space once again. Janel has been captured by the Consortium, the same outfit that took her from Earth 20 years ago and made her a slave. The very same captors she escaped from so long ago.

With so many books of this ilk, there isn't a lot of depth to it. Man sees woman, knows she is his, they have sex, instant love, life threatening situation to overcome, more sex, the end. At it's heart, this is a true love story. The kind of real situation where misunderstandings abound, intense feelings of love but also hate run rampant, a lot of anger for decisions made without explanation when you first develop a strong relationship with someone. The rocky stage where you're not sure what you can and can't say and the constant internal monologue that always ends with you telling yourself to shut the hell up and get on with it. This book really resonated with me and as it concludes, I've gotta say - 'm so happy with the way things worked out for Janel and Jake.

Taylor has left us wanting again so it is going to be a nail biting wait until the next instalment. I can't wait to see what other stories arc from this.

*This Book Was Given To Me By The Author In Exchange For An Honest Review*

Having read and LOVED the first book in this series I have been anxiously waiting for the second installment and Margaret Taylor didn't disappoint! Perfectly paced with amazing descriptions I flew through it cover to cover in one sitting just as I did with book 1.

The characters jump off the pages and drag you along on the adventure with twists and turns that I defy even the most experienced sci fi readers to predict. Sentient ships may not be a new idea but Margaret manages to bring a fresh, exciting perspective to it all.

My only complaint? There is a teaser for book 3 at the end .... and THAT is just mean because now the wait is on.

*I did the editing on this book so I cannot speak of any errors I may have or may not have found within this work*

Saving His Love picks up shortly after the end of A First Love Never Dies. Derienn has come for Jake, needing his help to rescue Janel.

Moren and John's rolls in this one are very small. Derienn's is even smaller even if she is their daughter. However, the reader is introduced to an array of new characters from a multitude of different planets.

This book, like the first book, is action packed, though the steamy sex scenes of the first book are missing in this second volume for obvious reasons.

I really enjoy this series, even if I'm not a sci-fi fan, there's so many other things twisted into the fabric of this series, that I can't help but want more of it.

I look forward to Retrieving His Heart, which is book 3 of this series.

I give this book 5 of 5 paws

This is an action-packed space adventure. Not only does Jake Reeves have to go on a rescue mission to save his love Janel Canton, but then the whole gang has to try to stop an insane control system who has taken over their space station! Nobody gets through unscathed, what with kidnappings, torture, deadly virus/drugs, battle wounds, and the uncertainty of long-distance love in the universe.

This story continues five years (Earth time) after the events of the first Spi-Corp book. It does a good job of clearing up what has happened in the interval and what the future for Jake and Janel will be.

Now if we could only fix that to, too, two problem! There are considerably fewer typos than in the first book though.

I read this for Round Table Book Reviews

This picks up from #1. Janel has been captured and once again Jake goes back into the Universe to rescue her. This time however, things are different for him in so many ways.
This was as exciting as #1 & I read it in one sitting. The twists and turns had me gasping at times.
Margaret’s descriptions are excellent, I could totally picture how every character looked like.
I love the chemistry between Jake & Janel. They just work so well together.
Margaret has given us another brilliant read.

while I like this one OK, it wasn't my favorite. the daughter that was 13 but only 5 was a little confusing, and I didn't get some if his doubt about the relationship toward the end, but I still enjoyed it.

After reading "A First Love Never Dies", I eagerly purchased "Saving His Love". I was not disappointed! This book is packed with nail-biting action and suspense! Additionally, there is the underlying dysfunctional love story with Janel and Jake. Great book, and I can't wait for book 3!

Saving His Love by Margaret Taylor is the second in the Spi-Corp series. It is just as good and just as addicting as book 1. I really enjoyed the spin in this one. It has an excerpt for book 3 at the end, but I have not been able to find it. This one wraps up with a sweet HEA, so it isn't completely necessary. I love the concept, imaging, and writing style. It lost a star for editing, but otherwise a very good read.
