When Sol meets Rob Sabat at the ski resort, it’s magic…literally. But their hot sexy romance could be short-lived, because Rob is really Barbatos, immortal daemon, cursed by an evil magician to spend the eight months of Daylight Savings Time buried underground. So now it’s up to Sol, descendant of King Solomon, the original daemon wrangler, to break the curse on his beloved. And to do that, he’ll have to become a sorcerer himself, maybe the greatest sorcerer ever. He’ll need Rob’s help, of course, as well as that of his faithful sidekick Celia – who just happens to be the descendant of the Queen of Sheba –and his dog Gary, once Sol understands Dogspeak. But daemons are a dangerous lot, and Sol’s experiments with the power may unleash and unlock more things under the earth than just Rob…

I have never read anything until now in the M/M subgenre of paranormal and I'm pleased to say that it won't be my last either.

Sol enjoys nothing more than racing down the ski slopes on his snow board in a snow storm when the slopes are clear of people. However, on one particular evening he sees something that defies all logic and stops to look. A group of snowboarders are doing tricks with their snowboard, but they seem to be able to do things that are not physically not possible.

He goes back to the bar after and this group are sat there and he is called over by one of them. His name is Rob. There is immediate sexual attraction, although he found the rest of the group rather creepy for some reason. Although their ways part that evening and normally it would be the end of the story.

They were good-looking guys too, sort of.... but there was this, I don't know, creepy thing going on. I was getting this "America's Sexiest Killers" vibe from all three of them...I could feel their eyes on me, as if evaluating which bits to eat and which ones to freeze.

Anway, Rob turns up unexplained and in unexpected places and they end up together. There is a chemistry between the two of them that can't be explained and Brad brings this across very well in his writing. The sex is hot and so is the relationship these two have with each other. Rob must be the hottest deamon around. But things are never what they seem.

Closet cases could be great sex, all that frustration gushing out ofthem in a torrent of passion, but then they ended up sitting on the edge of the bed with heads in hands, oh lord I am truly sorry blah blah blah. Forget that shit.

Oh yes, know those cases so well.

Rob tells Sol of his true nature which at first for Sol is unbelievable and laughable, but Rob convinces him by doing a few things that just aren't humanly possible. Gradually Rob exposes Sol to his true nature that he is a descendant of King Solomon and they were lovers in a time long ago. Rob is a deamon and has been lviving all this time hoping to find the connection once again.

Rob has been cursed and now the other demons know about Sol, Rob has to prepare him for what is to come. Sol starts to learn the basics of sorcery for Rob in order to protect himself and eventually to try and break Robs curse. In the process he makes some mistakes, calls up unwanted demons, gets turned into a crow, and has a narrow escape. This is after Rob has to disappear for the winter solstice for a few days.

What I really liked about this whole idea was the flashbacks to a time when Sol was Solomon. You get the past history and story, but only bit by bit, so I guess for the full picture we'll just have wait for the following books. When Sol's best friend Celia finds out that she also has a past and is the descendant of The Queen of Sheba then the whole plot thickens. This I felt for me personally got a little confusing at times and I was trying too hard to make logical connections. Just got the feeling the parts of the story where they were back in history just felt a litte disjointed to me. Maybe I could put this down to my lack of experience in the genre and decided to go with the flow. Maybe things will become clearer in the books to come.

For my first paranormal book I was relieved and enthralled that I could get into it so quickly. It is well grounded in the present and had a certain believability factor, that didn't leave me rolling my eyes and thinking, "oh yeah, like seriously?"

"I know you're not religious, Sol, but...do you believe that there are unexplained things? Supernatural things?"
I hesistated. "Well, let me tell you what I don't believe in. I don't believe in God, or angels, or demons, or ghosts that knock on tables or Sasquatches, or mind readers, or spoon benders or mediums, or witches, or vampires, or werewolves, or...okay, anything you'd find on the 'teen paranormal romance' shelf at the bookstore."

I found the self-defacing humour great as it is definitely there. Made the whole thing for me easier to get my head around. For someone attempting the paranormal side of things for the first time then this book would be a good place to start. I enjoyed this book and was a nice introduction into losing my paranormal virginity.

Another fantastic story by Brad Vance. I believe it's his first in the paranormal genre, but you'd not realize it from the creative and imaginative storyline. The world-building he creates for Rob Sabat, (the Daemon), Sol (who is a descendant of King Solomon), their counterparts, their friends, and their foes was clearly well thought out and extremely well written with plenty of detail and layering. I was caught up in the magic of the love story, both past and present, as much as the adventure Sol finds himself on as he embraces his true roots, his true love for Rob, and his destiny. Vance offers a tale of Kings and Queens, Sorcerers and Demons, friends, frenemies, enemies, and lovers told with humor, a bit of mystery, and a cast of characters you'll be rooting for early on. I found it impossible to put down, my curiosity for what would happen next was too great. And when completed all I could think was that I want more! More of the Chronicles of Rob the Daemon!

*I received this eBook free from the author in exchange for an honest review.

At several points, the story felt like a scene from an old variety show where the performer is spinning plates, running between them to keep the momentum going, while the audience isn't sure whether to root for a wobble to send one crashing to the ground or to cheer when it's reanimated.

The relationships between the two MCs, between the two best friends, the back story of ancient empires the daemon lived through, the current attempts to learn magic, the trouble when spells do wrong - so much to manage.

Vance is a strong writer and piece, as usual is well-edited, so it was almost a luxury to focus on quibbles with plot development, unlike other authors' works.

It's hard to believe this is Brads first foray into the paranormal genre.
Rob and Sol are wonderful characters in this at times humorous tale of sorcery.

I know someone objected to the religious aspect of this book, but I had no problem with it. And I was really glad Rob did what he did in 1930.

It's instant lust for Sol when he meets a very sexy Rob Sabat at a ski resort. It looks like Sol has got a hot romance on his hands, until he finds out that Rob is actually a very ancient daemon. If that isn't weird enough for Sol, Rob informs him that he is a descendant of King Solomon. With Rob's help, Sol is destiny to become one of the greatest magicians of all time. With his abilities, Sol can reverse the curse that Rob is under.

This is a quirky, funny, hot read. The characters, the story are brilliant. Like all Mr. Vance's books, he has done his research. Most fun I've had with a book this summer. Grab a glass of wine or a beer, find that comfy chair and enjoy.

This was an interesting idea. I found it lighthearted fun. I really started this with the idea I wouldn't like it. The idea behind it was interesting and different. I loved the characters that were involved and the way they took it all in stride.

I do have to say the almost insta-love was a little too quick with little interaction between the pair. And the ending...ugh! Still I very much enjoyed the story and look forward to reading the next.

LOVED the premise. Very unique.
I've always been fascinated by the tale of King Solomon and the Queen of Sheba, not to mention the demons.
I have a soft spot for demons. So I knew as soon as I picked this one up, it'd be a keeper.
It didn't disappoint me. I loved watching Sol develop as a character, and push and challenge himself.
Things that might bother other readers were not issues to me at all. It was a fun and quirky read, and a good use of my time.

Great start to the series. I was pleasantly surprised at how much longer this first installment seemed compared to first parts of other series by this author. As soon as I catch up on some of my other reading, I will buy the second book in this series.

I don't like giving things away, but I have to say the humor in this is great, especially as I'm a Harry Potter fan.

I love Rob, Sol and Gary! Great characters and the romance between Rob and Sol is sweet and hot. I feel for poor Rob having to suffer loneliness for so long, not only during daylight savings time, but for how long he was alone until he met his soul mate Sol. I love the humor in this story, too. I'm looking forward to reading the second book in this series.
