I like that friends gather to help make a pumpkin pie. There's a bear, cat and little sis. They happily sing songs while mixing, stirring and pouring. It's a sweet little story for the little children who love to help in the kitchen baking cookies, except this time it's yummy pumpkin pie!

Bright colored pictures with rhymes.
It's a fun way to teach kids rhymes and about baking. It even includes a recipe you could use to make a pumkin pie.

Perfect for first-time bakers of any age - #10 on The Gittle List 2014,

Written and Illustrated by Betty Palatin

#10 on The Gittle List 2014: Best Indie Children's Picture Books

"Jane Bakes a Pumpkin Pie" is an introduction to baking that provides the recipe to pumpkin pie in rhyming verse. Ms. Palatin’s illustrations are bright and colorful. It is a simple recipe that is perfect for first-time bakers of any age. The recipe is given in “adult” form at the end of the book. My partner and I made it with organic canned pumpkin and a natural (chemical- and shortening-free) premade crust. It was quite yummy!

(Disclosure: Ms. Palatin entered "Jane Bakes a Pumpkin Pie" into The Gittle List: Top 10 Indie Children's Picture Books of 2014 contest. There was no entry fee and I was under no obligation to review it.)

Jane Bakes a Pumpkin Pie: Pumpkin Pie Recipe Rhyming Book (A Thanksgiving Children's Picture Book for Ages 2-8) by Betty Palatin
Illustrated colorful children's book showing a girl baking a pie. It's just the perfect time for this book, being that it is Thanksgiving.
Jane and her friends help to bake a pumpkin pie. Good rhyming story.
This actually comes with the recipe-what a bonus! The pages also show the picture of what's happening along with the words at the bottom so you don't have to flip a page to read the text.

How fun was this book? It even includes a recipe for together time for you and the special child/ren in your life. My grand is still a bit too young but I can't wait...as I was reading it, I kept thinking this sounds like a real recipe, not let's pretend, lol! I wonder if it will work for sweet potato pie though?
