Did a quick read-through to get a sense of the entire book. It contains some good advice. But it will be useless if I don't pursue the Action Steps. I will be doing so on my second, slower, reading.
Does bacon fall from the sky when you read this book? No.
Will you be able to practically set and achieve goals after reading this book? Only if you move past the rats in your life. Once you move past the rats the steps outlined in this book will give you the tools you need to achieve.
You'll have to decide whether this would be helpful for you, but here are some good things: - It's not long, and there's not a lot of text to confuse you about a new topic. Instead there is a short explanation, a memorable quote, an exercise and an example. Easy way of learning. - The exercises. Very helpful. - The examples. Even more helpful. It's easier to understand something if you can follow how someone else did this.
There is a certain tone though that I'm not too fond of, and "I'm starting a business to serve God" was just one of the weird things that caught me for a while. I read over them, but it does seem a bit odd at times (or it's just not my mentality, I don't know, and you probably shouldn't expect political correctness from a selfhelp-book).
In any case, there are a lot of helpful tips, and there's nothing wrong with keeping the interesting information and ignoring the rest.
Ready, Aim, Fire (formerly known as Beyond the To-Do List) can be a quick read, but it shouldn't be. Fisher and Woods offer short, to-the-point chapters that each conclude with an action step to get you to seriously consider what you've just read. By taking the time to actually answer their questions, you'll begin to get a better grasp of what's necessary to attain that goal that's seemingly been just out of reach for so long.
If you don't have too much time, are in a momentum and want to start on the right foot, this book will give you just that. Short and thankfully concrete. This will work for you if you're not a mentally-structured person. If you are one, then it won't hurt either.
This was a really quick read. I feel like I got a lot of good advice from it. Each section ended with an action item take away. The actions reinforced the topic of the section.
