This book is perfect for putting parents and toddlers on the right track for a good attitude resulting in a great day. Through words and pictures, it acknowledges things in the environment from a child's perspective and gives examples of gratitude. It's positive and graceful learning. I think it does an excellent job of teaching children early about self awareness and appreciation. I definitely recommend it for the 0-3 age group.

Multicultural Children’s Book Day 2017 is in its fourth year and was founded by Valarie Budayr from Jump Into A Book and Mia Wenjen from PragmaticMom. It's mission is to raise awareness of the ongoing need to include kids’ books that celebrate diversity in home and school bookshelves while also working diligently to get more of these types of books into the hands of young readers, parents and educators.
Despite census data that shows 37% of the US population consists of people of color, only 10% of children’s books published have diversity content. Using the Multicultural Children’s Book Day holiday, the MCBD Team is on a mission to change all of that.

This is the author here. I am new to Goodreads--and excited to discover this world of books! I just want to comment that I loved that when I chose 5 stars the message was "it was amazing." I do love this little book, and it is amazing that it still touches me even though I've been thinking about it for over 2 years and I've read it about a gazillion times (that's only an approximation :) ). I hope many of you and the young people in your lives will enjoy this book.

Book review: My Amazing Day: a celebration of wonder and gratitude by Karin Fisher-Golton, Lori A. Cheung and Elizabeth Iwamiya

An “Amazing Day” has occurred! This is the first time anyone has reached out to me to review their book, so to kick things off, I am eternally grateful to Karin Fisher-Golton for reaching out to me on the Multicultural Children's Book Day Face Book page and asking me to review her book. Thank you!
Through the simple concept of giving thanks, this beautiful chunky board book, which is great for little hands, creates a sense of wonder through simple phrases that teach compassion, empathy, kindness and calmness. From the first “Today was amazing” the book is relatable to very young children and can be reiterated throughout the day, connecting daily life experiences to those in the book. This book is a daily mindfulness practice by playfully appreciating seeing, feeling, touching, smelling, tasting, sensing, experiencing, noticing, focusing and exploring.

This is an adorable book. It is a feel good, slice of happiness. I can't wait to share it with the children at the child care center where I teach yoga. I recommend you share it with a child in your life.

Full Disclosure: The authors provided me with a copy of My Amazing Day to review. All opinions expressed are my own.

My Amazing Day: A Celebration of Wonder and Gratitude is a delightful board book for toddlers that reminds us of the miracles found in everyday life. According to Cicero, the Roman Philosopher, the virtue of gratitude is the parent of all other virtues. The book is portrayed through the eyes of Lilly, an adorable toddler, who stops to notice the wonders of the world as she goes about her day. Lilly's fresh perspective on life turns the ordinary into extraordinary which shows children how to cultivate the spirit of gratitude right from the start. The illustrations in the book are beautifully done capturing Lilly's sheer joy of life. As an educator and grandparent, I highly recommend this book to teach children a lesson on gratitude early in life that they will hopefully continue to develop throughout their lives. An excellent book to read at any time but especially around the holidays when families come together to spend time with each other. Medical researchers have found that living a life filled with gratitude can ward off diseases and expand the average lifespan. My Amazing Day is a win-win for children and adults alike!
