This is a powerful resource for teachers who want to improve instructional practice. I don't have a finish date as I keep going back to the book over and over again.

It's easy enough to read as it is well organized. The examples included are a great help as well as nice resources for taking the lessons and implementing in the classroom. If I had to narrow my professional library down to 10 resource books, this book would remain.

Teaching 5th graders how to interpret text is very difficult. This book is an excellent resource that help facilitate immediate lessons while offering ongoing innovative lessons. This is not a 'read it once and master it' teacher text. This is meant to be read through, read in chunks, and a resource guide. I wish I had two copies so I could have one at home and one at school.

I'm excited to see that the authors have a new book coming out.

More about reading than writing interpretation--but students have to read first, right? I like the framework they use.
