One moonlit night + one hungry fox = One big chase! Whenever there's a full moon, the sneaky fox chases all the geese. All the geese, that is, except one. What could be his secret? While all the white fluffy geese clean themselves in the clear, clean pond, One Smart Goose chooses the dirty pond. "Why doesn't the fox ever chase you?" they demand. "Have you got a secret you're not telling us?" No, it's just that One Smart Goose knows that when the fox comes looking for dinner under a full moon, the white geese will shine and glow in the moonlight, while he will blend in.
this is an adorable kids book. The moral of the story is that just because everyone does something doesn't make it right. And just because you know that they're wrong doesn't mean you they'll listen do you. But you should always follow your own instincts. Very cute story. Can't wait to read it to my kids.
This was a story time selection relating to the summer theme of water, since geese like water. I really thought this one was both cute and clever. I liked how the goose at first just seems to be dirty, but we learn that in fact he is smart. He knows that if he is dirty he is camouflaged, just as he knows to get clean when it snows. I liked the happy ending as well.
Could be a good tie in book for elementary science lesson on camouflage in animals, especailly the ones that change with the seasons. (Not saying the geese actually stay dirty on purpose).
Genre: modern fantasy Age group: k-3 I like this book because it shows something that happens in kids life today. A duck is getting bullied and treated differently than the others because he does something different. And it’s not until the ducks listen to his reasoning before they understand him and it ends up saving the other ducks. Comparing to kids today we need to listen before judging and I think that is a great lesson for kids these days.
This is the cutest book! A little goose who likes to play in the muddy water isn't chased by the fox because the fox can't see him in the night time shadows. So all of the other geese decide to dirty themselves up. But then it begins to snow....
