Some parents love to sing, some don't. Most babies and young children LOVE to hear their parents sing. Debby Anderson's two books can help reluctant singers (like me!) to sing to and, when they get older, with their children.
This version of Jesus Loves the Little Children contains the familiar verse, which we alter for our family. Instead of:
Jesus loves the little children, all the children of the world
red and yellow, black and white, they are precious in His sight,
Jesus loves the little children of the world.
We sing:
Jesus loves the little children, all the children of the world
TAN and BROWN, black and white, they are precious in His sight,
Jesus loves the little children of the world.
Because all people come in shades of brown, not red or yellow. I made this alteration in our book with a marker! :)
To this familiar verse, Anderson adds verses about the different environments in which children live such as, desert, ocean, city, small town, etc. The verses are not profound, but rather a simple way to highlight God's omnipresence among ALL the children of the world.
We had this book for two children. One wasn't too interested and gravitated toward other titles, but for the other, this book, and it's companion are a precious keepsake. If you have a musical child (even if you aren't!) this is an excellent book to share/ sing with them.

Did I like the premise of the book? Yes.
Did I like that some of the pictures and lyrics had some undertones I didn’t think were necessary? Also yes.

Debbie Andersons books are fun to read and sing along to. They keep my babies attention. This one is wonderful because it shows all the different people of the world.

sing to the tune of the children's song, each verse is about children in a different area of the world --- tropic, mountains, desert, cities, small towns
