Eighteen months after their wedding day, Allen Gingerich’s cherished young wife, Sarah Ann, is killed. Quietly reeling from grief, the young man leaves the community, hoping to find solace by throwing himself into his work as a teacher in a one-room Amish school. But soon after arriving, Allen receives a cryptic letter and photograph, revealing Sarah Ann was not who she appeared. What follows is a story of mystery and intrigue as Allen seeks answers about his wife’s true identity and to what depths a man will go to discover the truth about the woman he loves.
I was not a fan of this book at all. It needed a lot more work before being published and by that, I mean several re-writes. The premise was interesting which was why I picked up this book in the first place, but it was not well executed. I feel like I was reading a blow by blow of things happening one after another. There was no buildup of suspense and I had no care nor concern for the characters. The ending was abrupt, rushed and rather disappointing.
I think this could've been a winner if some more time and effort had been put into re-writing, but as it stands now, I don't recommend wasting your time.
Actually, TMTI...too much tedious information. Good plot idea. Even unique, but the scene descriptions far outweigh the character building. I even expected a detailed description of whether he put his left leg in the trousers first or his right.
I didn't like the main character. I didn't dislike him. I knew he was the new teacher and that he missed his deceased wife. Funny, I remember more about Amos ( where he is staying) than about him. Even though I finished this book yesterday, I don't remember his name.
Giving 3 stars for a good plot and good grammar. No, I do not recommend this book. No, I do not recommend this book.
Quiet Amish Courage by Samuel Byler and Linda Byler-Sortor This is the first book by these authors and im impressed. If you are looking for a typical Amish Romance this may not be the book for you, although it does have a sweet romance, it also has mystery which some of us have come to really enjoy as well. I really enjoyed the storyline, however I felt like I was reading a blow by blow description of a journal, I felt like instead of reading a wonderful book I was listening to a narration of the characters life, but with that said this storyline was captivating, devastation and a true story of great love. That of a husband for his wife and a mother and father for their daughter. What extend would one go to in the name of love? This book will keep you guessing and on the tip of your seat, it will pull you into the storyline and hold your attention right to the last word. I’m looking forward to the second book which is Pure Justice

What a great story!! I really enjoyed it. In fact, I couldn't put it down until I finished it. Hopefully, I can read the second book in the series, Pure Justice, tonight and tomorrow. I hope we will be hearing more from this author. Actually, it appears that there are two authors, Samuel Byler and Linda Byler-Sortor.
I expected a great Amish story revolving around family and a romance. This book covered that but took me completely by surprise when there was mystery, murder, with twists and turns I never expected. I LOVED this book! It had me staying up later and later because I couldn't stop reading. I HAD to know what would happen next! Great job Byler's, I look forward to more great reads!
