About the author

Writing is my great love. I finally made time to devote to it in 2013 and self-published my debut novel, Chances and Choices. Since then I have gone on to write my best-selling ongoing e-serials Her Keeper and Intimate Knowledge, as well as HIS By Design, the erotic version of Chances & Choices. In 2015, I published the first book in my Hope Junction Series, The Rancher’s Woman, with Stormy Night Publications.

I am a Canadian, currently living in England. As well as my writing, I am an international teacher. I have worked in many different countries where I have had the opportunity to participate in their culture and make wonderful friends. Before teaching, I was a photographer in the Canadian Air Force. In those days women were scarce in the military and we were lucky to have our pick of so many alpha men. I married one of them and we were blessed with our beautiful daughter. As a mother and a (very, very young) grandmother, I treasure time with my family.

I write stories I love to read. My students will tell you I am cynical but the fact is - scratch a cynic and you find a romantic underneath! So I really am a romantic at heart and write and devour romance of any kind. Naturally I write romantic love stories. I love strong yet nice guy, tender heroes – the bad boy has never really grabbed me – well okay maybe once or twice but I never let him hold on for that long!

I have been lucky to teach media and film for years and l am a big fan of romantic comedy, as well as crime and supernatural films and television. I particularly love the ones with a great enduring love story mixed with intrigue where they are friends as well - like Bones and Vampire Diaries. My love stories are a combination of these - enduring friendships and feuds, romance, alpha males, strong females, bad boys and girls we love to hate, along with cast of characters and a dollop of tongue in cheek humor here and there. My other characters will often have their own love stories in their series while still following the original couples.

I love magazines, fashion and the world of film and television so that is where the action is set in my Choices Series. Hot cops are a turn on and thrillers intrigue me so I explore these in my Detectives & Desires Series. I also spent a number of years in the Canadian Rockies and the ranchlands of Alberta and that has inspired my Hope Junction Series with Stormy Night Publications. It is set in a small town in the Wyoming Rockies.

I also have a series of stand-alone short stories planned around The Raffertys - a family with hot alpha males and feisty women who we first met in Intimate Knowledge and Her Keeper. Look out for the first in the series, Her Forbidden Spring. In addition to Her Forbidden Spring, I’m working on the next episodes in my e-serials as well as the next book in the Hope Junction Series.

Raisa Gordon is looking to go out with a BANG. One last "I'm AWESOME" to add to her bad ass portfolio before leaving Vice to go to law school. She believes cracking Leo Gold, heir apparent to the Gold crime family, is just the last hoorah she's looking for. But will Leo's magnetism prove to be more then Roisa can resist?

I think so!! Leo is yummy, and I would be crumbling at his feet in a day! Raisa is one hard ass chicka for sure! Intimate Knowledge is SO erotic, if it doesn't make you squirm you might wanna see a Dr. I'm eagerly awaiting the next installment in this series.

Being a beta reading for Helen Karol is one of the best things about reading. I get to read and enjoy her stories and this one did not disappoint. Raisa Gordon is a detective and going to school to be a lawyer with the hopes of getting the bad guys the right way without having the evidence thrown out. On to the scene is Leo Gold, a sexy billionaire that seems to be on the wrong side of the law. The FBI sees that Leo is lusting after Raisa, so they have her go undercover to get closer to him. The only problem is that Raisa has strong feelings for him and she is not sure how long she can pretend . What happens when Leo finds out that she is looking into his dealings? Can she fight the urges to make him hers? If you like a story with a twist, some suspense and lust, then this story is for you. Can't wait for part 2.

This is my book. I wrote it so I really like it. It is a 50 shades type but with an older heroine and a younger hero. I wanted something different from 20 something virgins and tortured CEO's. Raisa is a bit of a badass cop and Leo is an alpha male and maybe a criminal. He is certainly manipulative, but still irresistible. Bad news for Raisa as he is her undercover target.

Intimate Knowledge is part of new series Detective & Desires that unfold over multiple volumes. It is the first in the series. The first instalment establishes the characters and plot, but no sex yet - it's coming(pardon the pun) next instalment.

There was a lot to like in this first installment of the series. I beta read for Ms. Karol and found her characters likeable and approachable, in addition to a fascinating storyline with cool plot twists. I liked Raisa and her mysterious backstory. I loved how Leo was playing his game with Raisa. I can't wait to read more!

I enjoyed the story of Rasia and Leo. Rasia is a seasoned vice cop about to go to law school and has a lot of experience under her belt. Leo is the heir apprentice to his mobster family's business and is used to getting what he wants. So you have two headstrong people that are complete opposites. It makes for an interesting story.

This series of stories was gifted to me for an honest review including the prologue by the author. Keep in mind, I did not have any knowledge as to the basis of the book nor did I read any blurbs or see the book cover prior to reading this book.

I read the prologue first....it's three POV's that cycle between the main characters Leo Gold and Raisa Gordon. I was hooked by the second page. The hot scene unfolded and drew me in and laid premise to the story leading up to that point. I wanted more. This is written as a serial and I read parts 1-7 and apparently it's not done, because I want to hear the rest of the story. I want to find out what side Raisa chooses, her job or a future with Leo?

The story itself is about Vice Detective Raisa Gordon who gets the position of her dreams as an undercover agent in the Task Force. Only, she got more than she bargained for, she got the attention of Leo Gold, successful architect, international businessman and heir apparent to Gold crime family. Her own desires, passions and repressed traumas emerge as Leo seduces her. Leo loves hard while remaining faithful and pleasuring his women. There is more to Leo as well. How can there not be? Heir apparent to Gold crime family, Raisa's mission is to verify and gather Intel on Leo's connections to bust the whole operation. Meanwhile, Leo wants to peel her like an onion and discover, embrace and devour every inch of Raisa from the minute he noticed her at an art gallery as she gazed at the works. What he finds in Raisa, taps into his own dark tendencies of his bloodline he has tried so hard to compartmentalize within himself. Raisa, the "Queen of Disconnect", plummets down the rabbit hole while Leo evolves into himself throughout the book. I can't wait to see where this series goes from here! The imagery is vivid, tension is razor sharp and dialogue is free flowing and story keeps moving, which is awesome. There are definitely no drags in this book!!! Page after page, was a new discovery and twist and one more piece of the puzzle to both Raisa's desires and Leo's evolution.

There is rarely a book I do not like but this is one if those occasions. Perhaps later it will be reread, but I just did not like this . Jumping from the beginning to a week later or earlier??? I spend too many times going back to check dates and no I will leave it as such until I have a time for a reread.
