玫瑰的故事
選載 我的名字叫黃振華。 玫瑰是我的妹妹，黃玫瑰。她比我小十五歲，而我再也沒見過比玫瑰更像一朵玫瑰的女孩子。 她是我唯一的妹妹，母親在三十八歲那年生下她，父親當時的生意蒸蒸日上，一切條件注定玫瑰是要被寵壞的。 玫瑰三歲大的時候，已是一個小小的美人胚子，連 母親也訝異不已，因為一家人都不過中人之姿，這樣的水嬰兒實在是意外之喜。 玫瑰不但長得好看，而且能說會道，討人喜歡，考幼兒園的時候，無往不利，老師摸＃她漆黑烏亮的頭髮，憐愛地說：「這個小小的黃玫瑰，將來是要當香港小姐的。」 她的生活毫無挫折。 後來，當然，她長大了，漂亮與不漂亮的孩子，同樣是要長大的。 玫瑰出落得如此美麗，薔薇色皮膚，圓眼睛，左邊臉頰上一顆藍痣，長腿，結實的胸脯，並且非常的活潑開朗。男孩子開始追求她的那年，我已讀完建築，得到父親的資助，與同學周士輝合作，開設公司。周年少老成，他的世界明淨愉快，人長得端正高尚，他對詩篇圖畫，鳥語花香，完全不感興趣。生活方面，他注重汽車洋房，當然還有公司的賬簿，他是典型的香港有為青年，你不能說他庸俗，因他是大學生，談吐高雅，但也不能將他歸入有學問類，因除出建築外，他對外界一無所知，他會以為鮑蒂昔里是一種新出的名牌鱷魚皮鞋。但我喜歡周士輝，他的優點非常多，和藹可親是他的首本好戲。他有個青梅竹馬的女朋友，卻把她收得非常嚴密，輕易不讓我們見面。 他的理由：「尤其是你，振華，防人之心不可無，我不怕一萬，只怕萬一，等我娶了她，才讓她見你，情場如戰場，你的條件太好，我不能放心。」 我頓時啼笑皆非。這便是周士輝，我的生意拍擋。 母親對我是滿意的。 她說：「士輝這孩子有生意頭腦，能補足你的短處，將來生意做大了，難免有意見相歧這種事，你要忍讓點。」 我唯唯諾諾。 母親最近這一兩年脾氣很古怪，父親叮囑我們對她忍讓一點，她更年期。 「聽說士輝快要結婚了。」 「是。」 「你呢？」母親問。 我抓抓頭皮，「沒對象。」 母親說：「打爛了電話的全是找玫瑰，玫瑰最近很不像話，一天到晚就是懂得往外跑，出了事

This is a good book, but I don’t like it. I can feel the many themes, and I feel like it deserves a closer reading, but I’m not going to do it. Why? Because I don’t like it.
Why don’t I like it?
Well, let me give you a summary of this book. Basically, there’s this girl. This beautiful, beautiful girl. And then bad things happen to her. Repeatedly. Constantly. For the entire book. The end.
Aaaand…that’s the story. Pretty much.
And, I mean, at first it made me angry. It made me so mad to see people blaming 玫瑰 for something that wasn’t her fault. To see her torn apart by reality.
But you know what? After reading about that cycle for the nth time, I simply grew apathetic. At first I kept reading on, spurred by the hope that something good would happen to 玫瑰 at last, that she would get what she deserved (and do we not all deserve happiness?). But then I gave up. I stopped caring what happened to her, because why lift yourself up only to be let down every time?
And, of course, that’s not what this book is about, really. It’s about wealth and romance and looking below the surface.
And the narrative structure is interesting. I believe this is the first book I’ve read where the main character’s story is told entirely through the eyes of secondary characters.
And, I mean, what better way to prove that someone’s life is a 传奇 than by letting the reader experience their lives through someone else’s eyes?
I’m sorry. I wish I like it. But it’s just too depressing to read.

本書首次出版於1981年，共分4部，以4個不同角色作為第一身去描述玫瑰不同年紀的感情經歷，於當時應該算得上是新穎的寫作手法吧。內容在描述玫瑰的一生時，滲入很多不同的愛情/婚姻看法。
第1部以玫瑰的大哥黃振華為第一身，講述玫瑰自出生以來便美得驚人，不論男女都為其美貌而讚嘆，已成家立室孩子剛出生的男人都願為她拋妻棄子，縱使他從未得到過玫瑰的愛。17歲年輕任性的玫瑰認識了28歲的莊國棟，是她第一次遇見真愛，可惜其時莊已有拍拖多年的未婚妻，兩人渡過一個快樂的夏天，最後莊選擇了與未婚妻結婚，自此不再與玫瑰來往。玫瑰心死，被大哥送到美國讀書散心，其後為當母親的乖女兒，嫁了平庸的美籍華人方協文，變成賢良淑德的妻子，並誕下小玫瑰方太初。
第2部以溥家明的弟弟溥家敏為第一身，提到玫瑰10年的婚姻隨著其母親逝世而迎來終結，家敏對玫瑰一見鍾情，為追求玫瑰而與拍拖多年的女友分開，然而因家敏的關係，其時30歲的玫瑰遇上家明並相愛，可惜天意弄人，原來家明身患絕症，玫瑰欲與他結婚，但家明不肯答應，她只好不顧一切陪着家明度渡過生命的最後三個月，包括把小玫瑰交給方照顧成長。而家明死後，玫瑰與羅德慶爵士約會。
第3部以小玫瑰的男朋友為第一身，描寫小玫瑰長大後回港與母親相認的故事。小玫瑰自小與父親相依為命，經濟環境不算好，一直認為母親因父親窮而拋下他倆，直自回港後得悉玫瑰與家明的事才悉懷，願與玫瑰往來，但不欲出席與玫瑰及新丈夫同場的場合。
第4部以羅德慶的兒子羅震中為第一身，他對玫瑰也是一見傾心，其後卻發現玫瑰是其繼母，傷心欲絕。更巧合的是，震中的同事正是莊國棟，原來莊當年的婚姻只維持10年，離婚時前妻亦同意莊從不愛她，兩人浪費了10年時光。震中知道莊心中只有28歲時與他共渡美好夏天的女孩，為此一蹶不振，幾經努力慫恿他到其父的公司工作，重新出發，豈料重遇已為羅德慶第二任妻子的玫瑰。莊認為他倆再一次相遇是命運的安排，全力追求玫瑰，玫瑰的心亦蠢蠢欲動，但始終無法在羅德慶與莊之間作決擇。最後，因羅德慶假裝病危，使玫瑰和震中得知心中的第一位始終是羅德慶，於是玫瑰拒絕了莊，而震中亦樂於祝福他們。

讀亦舒的書簡直就是一種享受。但做人也不可以太過享受，所以也不可以看太多亦舒的書。

果然是八十年代出版的书，充满了那个年代爱情的味道。但在它出版四十年之后再看，我们和作者的价值观爱情观已经相差甚远了。
我不喜欢这个结局，或者说我不认为玫瑰真正找到了她想要的。我看到“我是爱过很多次，但每一次都全心全意”时，还曾有些许期待，玫瑰能成为卡萨诺瓦那样的洒脱佳人。但事实上她不洒脱，也没有自我，她从不知道自己真正爱什么。
说回来，摇摆不定是人类本性，就像是这本书中的每一个人。若没恋爱过，觉得遗憾；轰轰烈烈爱过，却落魄半生。
人生果真是一场徒劳。

Absolute trash of a story. The only redeeming feature of this book was that the Chinese was simple enough to get me back into the habit of reading fiction in the language. I wanted to give up multiple times, but thought I should persist so that I can have an unbiased opinion when I wrote this review.
The number of sexist and racist comments in this novel is nauseating. One of the sentences towards the end of the novel reads as follows, "A woman will always be a woman; if you give her a chance, she'll show you her true colors. I have a feeling that XYZ will abandon her career ambitions and return to the kitchen to become a good wife." Kill me now.

Yishu is a brilliant and famous Chinese female author, however I have never read any of her works.
The story of Rose was my first one and I absolutely loved it. It is a beautiful yet sad story. It also got me thinking if LOVE, do exist?

I read tones of novels from Yishu when I was supposed to study for the college entrance exam. And I never regret it. Because of her books HongKong remain the most romantic city in my mind.

之前读过亦舒其他的小说，还蛮喜欢的，但这本我真的欣赏不来 😅 可能因为这本是她早期的作品吧，感觉情节之类的都无法吸引我。

亦舒的小说，后期的文笔较好，前期的故事性较强。《玫瑰的故事》是较早期的作品，情节现在看起来是有点狗血。玫瑰太美丽，美丽得让人窒息，但男人一个个抛妻弃子追求她，是不是有点不真实？我不相信女人能美得让男人都失去理智，但亦舒显然不同意。到了我这个年纪，就算香香公主和小龙女也只有欣赏的份。总觉得亦舒小说里的俊男美女，和现实的芸芸众生没多大关系。可能是年纪大了吧，只能给这部小说三颗星了。
