This series gets better and better with each book!! I love these delicious Alpha man and the sassy women who capture their hearts!
Max and Jade are a hot combo!!! Oh heck yeah, these two are combustible!! Serious bouts of sexual tension! And just enough angst to keep the drama alive!
The story this time takes us in a new direction for the MacKenzies, now they are private contractors. I really like this new thread because it opens up so many more possible romances than just in the family. It was also great to get more updates on the couples we already knew.
It has a mixed narrative, so you get both leads POV. This really helps enhance the story and makes the romance more engaging. The timeline is a little tricky. I had to do math and I am not a fan of that! I wish these books were a touch closer to the timeframe of the original novellas.
Let me tell you, Max knows his way around some dirty talk!! Oh hell yes! Get that cold shower ready cause this one is a scorcher at times! You might never look at the kitchen the same!
I listened to the audiobook narrated by Noah Michael Levine. What a yummy voice! He does a great job keeping the action moving and the flow of the story. I love the way he does the men's tones, they could be more varied but are very yummy. I am definitely looking to hear more of him.
I can not wait for the next book!! Please let the audio come out quick! I need to know about Declan!!

Jade is an intriguing, complex woman...she has lost her family, been orphaned, gets news of the loss of her husband and miscarries their unborn baby on the same day. Yet, she perseveres.
Max has been in a coma, she sits patiently urging him to fight through the darkness.
“Why the hell do you always have to be so damned chipper at the crack of dawn? It’s an unforgivable personality trait.”
“That’s funny, because I’ve always thought the fact you can’t hold your liquor better than a college freshman was pretty unforgivable. Maybe you’ll feel better if you put on some pants. It’s probably not a good thing for every housewife on the street to know you’re circumcised.” Please put on some pants, she prayed. Her control was slipping by the second.
A piratical smile slashed across his face. “It’s nice to see you’re looking out for me, but no. I’m pretty sure nothing will make me feel better. Not even pants. Though a couple of aspirin couldn’t hurt. You could always come back later—when I’m wearing pants—if I’m making you uncomfortable. Or maybe you just like what you see a little too much”.

Another MacKenzie hit! Book 8 in the MacKenzie series is another hit! If you haven't started reading these books yet, be sure to check out book 1 Dane (which is currently free). I'm a huge fan of the MacKenzie series, I read book 4.5 first Christmas 2011 and have been hooked ever since. I started the whole series over again just before Cade (book 6) came out.
Secrets and Satin is about the romance between Jade Jax and Max Devlin. Jade is a child orphaned at a young age who grew up to be a awesome sniper and secret agent. Max Devlin is a silver spooned billionaire who also lost his parents and was never loved by his grandparents who turned to the Marines and then the DEA. In book 7 (Shadows and Silk) you can sense there is a relationship forming between Jade and Max. Secrets and Satin pick up where we left Max in the hospital after being almost fatally shot at the end of book 7. Jade helps him recover and their relationship continues to build, however something always seems to get in the way. Jade's sexual insecurity or the next mission. Will these two ever get together, you feel like it is going to happen and then they fight or there is a knock at the door. It was enough to drive me crazy and kept me turning the pages - I knew it would be hot when it finally did happen!
Meanwhile back to the storyline ... after many months of rehab he is back to doing secret missions with Declan MacKenzie's new firm MacKenzie Security. At top secret agency doing off the book government jobs. In this mission a senator is suspected of selling information to the bad guys. Jade and Max play cat and mouse with each other as well as Martin Vassin. Martin has kidnapped the senators daughter, hence his loose lips.
Give this book a try -- it is a great romantic suspense! Looking forward to book 9 Sins and Scarlet Lace - Declan MacKenzie's story, out in April 2013!

Love, Love, Love this series!!! Each next MacKenzie book is getting better and better. I cannot put them down. Max & Jade's story is full of excitement, secrets, HOT chemistry, heartbreak, & love. This story begins with very strong, emotional scenes of Jade's despair over loosing her husband and Max's physical & emotional struggle to come back from awful gunshot wounds. The author provides a good amount of history of the two characters which helps when we get to the present day to find Max & Jade working together on an op. I enjoyed the turn of events in this story, where the woman is hesitant to commit and the man is at a loss as to how to get her to be truthful about her heart. Jade's big secret continues to drive her fear of committing to Max. Max's frustration with Jade always lead to very HOT & fast coupling. The suspense is kept up throughout the book and keeps you guess as to what will happen on the op as well as what secrets Jade is keeping. If you haven't started the MacKenzie series you must give them a try!

This series...I'm just not getting into like I hope. I mean, at this point, I'm going to finish it because I only have a few books left, but this has dragged. I only saved by the fact that I'm pushing through to read Jay Crownover's book set in this world. That and the books are SO short.
Honestly, the author isn't bad. I just...is TOO alpha a thing? I mean, the language used during the MANY MANY MANY sex scenes is pretty...gross. Now, I read a LOT of romances, but these are just...not very sexy. A lot of the language makes me cringe. I'm giving this 3 stars and not 2 because I don't think Liliana is a bad author. The writing is actually very good. It's just...a little too much for me.

4.75 - loved it. he was strong, alpha, hot, protective, deadly, smart, etc. And the occasional headaches just made him that much more ..... human. She was badass, ass kicking, deadly, woman. loved that she was uncomfortable in dress up clothes that couldn't hide her weapons. liked how the climactic part of the book ended quickly and the bad guys are dead. The intimacy scenes were super fun to read. but, for people who are so strong it was really silly how scared she was to tell him the truth, especially when she of all people know there are other ways to grow your family.

Jade and Max have history, but not a negative one. Max was in love with Jade but she was married to his best friend.
When the worst happens, these two end up with a push/pull relationship.
On a mission together, they get closer but Jade has not told Max everything about that awful day and believes they cannot be together.

Not as good as the last book in this series. You still get romance, light steam and sadly only light suspense.
Max and Jade are both bad ass and their story should have been too. It was not!! Suspense minimal, steam not so hot and storyline just ok. I'll try next book in the series but if it's similar to this one I'll take a break from this author/series for awhile.

Usually like this author’s books, and don’t mind some sex in them, but this book to me ( & I got through half of it- at least) seemed to have more sex in it than story. Not sure I will continue with this series. May try one more — we’ll see.

As always, anything remotely related to the McKenzie family stories is going to be awesome. This tale of action, drama, erotic passionate sex, love & so much more is no exception. Max Devlin at the end of the last story I read about Brant & Darcy's love story, was injured & in a coma in hospital with his fellow DEA partner at his be side.
Jade Jax is a tough DEA agent & has always been the love of Max's life, except he never told anyone that. She was married to a fellow agent & friend. Even though 2 years earlier her husband Donovan was murdered while deep under cover & when the news was broken to her it caused her to have a miscarriage of the baby that she hadn't told anyone about yet.
Max still has stood back watching & protecting & helping her get over him as a friend, both dedicating their lives to the job. Jade has been the best friend to Max, helping him all the way through his rehab. They are close friends & in the heat of a moment he makes a play for her & now things are changing. They have been separated for nine months, even though the time has only made him want her more. Jade has issues against getting too close, but she is now in the right place to start moving on with her life.
Because of a new mission, they are together again. The heat & passion is still there & it's even more powerful. Thrown together in their new roles, they explore their feelings for each other. Wow, what a ride we go on with them. Cold showers all around, this story is hotter than hot. Heaps of action & testosterone fueled drama with sex scenes slotted in there to keep us all happy.
We get all the bases covered with loads of emotional drama, which is hard for Jade to come to terms with, as she is the erternal DEA agent & tries her best to hide her feelings. But to his credit Max doesn't give up on her, he pushes & questions & proves his feelings over & over again, until finally she breaks down the walls she put in place when her husband died. We are rewarded with the HEA we are longing for.

Another great book by Liliana Hart. It starts off 2 years earlier with Jade being heartbroken in grief and sorrow, and then losing something even more very precious. She stays strong but sorrow is in her eyes. She tries to make love to Max but he denies himself the pleasure because he don't want to there be a ghost between them, he wants her to come to him because she wants him not to just scratch an itch.
Now Jade and Max are assigned together for a mission. They get even closer then friends. But Jade holds back, she resist letting her heart get involved. She believes there is no future for them because of her secret. Max is determined to convince her they have a future no matter what she is keeping from him while doing a dangerous mission that could get them killed.
I loved this book. A lot of banter and sharp wit. I love the Mackenzie men they are all so HOT!!!! Secrets and Satin was heartbreaking sad at first, then got HOT and had lots of action and I'm not just talking outside of the bedroom lol it was also sweet and romantic. Sorry, I'm really phoning in these reviews.
What can I say that I haven't before? Great mystery suspense plot brought down by formulaic Alphole and stock sex.
I just don't get this. I was mildly interested in Jade and Max as he had loved her from afar and helped her mourn the death of her husband. Yet, as soon as they actually get together he stops being all sensitive and shit (sorry channelling for a moment) and reverts to the tried and trusted MacKenzie Alphole formula.
Maybe I'm naive, maybe I'm behind the times (no pun intended) but I do have to wonder whether the MacKenzie Brothers en masse ought to seek psychiatric help for their anal fixation - it strikes me as unusual that it is their go-to interest! Every time I get to the relevant point in her books I go, hey-ho off we go again b-o-r-i-n-g.
I found it interesting that on reading the reviews very few people talk about the plots of these books, which is a pity because they are the best bit.

Maybe I'm naive, maybe I'm behind the times (no pun intended) but I do have to wonder whether the MacKenzie Brothers en masse ought to seek psychiatric help for their anal fixation - it strikes me as unusual that it is their go-to interest! Every time I get to the relevant point in her books I go, hey-ho off we go again b-o-r-i-n-g.
I found it interesting that on reading the reviews very few people talk about the plots of these books, which is a pity because they are the best bit.
Started the last book but lost the will to continue.

You make me whole...
I truly enjoyed reading, 'Secrets and Satin.' We met Jade and Max in, ' Shadows and Silk,' and both characters were devilishly charming. And you were draw to the possibility of a romance between them at that teaser at the end of, 'Shadows and Silk.' Reading about Jade and the hardships she went through growing up; the happiness and tragedies of her short-lived marriage... You can understand the vulnerability she feels when Max makes it clear he sees her as more then a friend and want to pursue a future with her.
Max has always loved Jade, even when she belonged to another. He stood by her through her loss and grief. Helped her work through her pain and find a purpose in life. And when he was struck down by a the leader of a drug cartel, saving Darcy MacKenzie, facing death... Jade became his beacon in the dark. When Jade finally begin to see him differently, he told her to be sure because once her has her, he won't let her go...

Every book in the MacKenzie series is great and this one as well. This is a touching story of finding love a second time and you should expect teary eyes.
Jade finds out that her husband, Donovan, has been killed in action and added to her sorrow is that she also loses her baby. Her friend and partner, Max, is there for her and helps her through. Max has been in loved with Jade for years and he wants a chance to love her as she deserves.
What I loved most about this story is how the author entwines Jade's past in with her future. Max tells Jade that he's not expecting her to forget her past. And on Max and Jade's wedding day, Max feels that Donovan is with them in spirit and Max thanks Donovan "for being there to love her first".
