Rate this book
Reclusive Luisa Montoya wants nothing more than to write her children’s books in the peace and quiet of her ranch where her animals soothe her soul, and the solitude hides her secrets. Drake Forrester lives in a world of guilt and rage over the loss of his best friend ... and his love for the wrong woman. His fury is beaten only by the clash of his sculpting hammer and the noisy streets of Los Angeles. It threatens his job, his future, and maybe even his life. When Drake is sent to live on Luisa’s isolated desert ranch, the city man and country woman are forced to face their painful pasts. Their future will rely upon their strength, love, and the legacy of Conall’s spirit.

This is a story about 2 damaged people helping each other heal. Luisa lives on a ranch in the desert and almost never leaves the property due to a painful past. Fear keeps her grounded there. Drake, a bomb squad cop from LA, is sent there for a vacation to try and get over the death of his partner for which he blames himself. The attraction to each other is instant, but it takes them each time to be able to act on it. There are circumstances and events that keep interfering on them attempting to get to know one another on a more personal level. There is not much angst and the drama is resolved quickly in this sweet romantic story. It seems that the characters know the right thing to say a the right time, there's no messing around in that aspect. It even had me in tears at one point. It was a touching story, one that I'd recommend if you like a hearts & flowers kind of romance that takes place on a desert ranch.

I received a free copy of this eBook in exchange for an honest review.

While the story in Conall's Legacy is likable enough, I only felt it was good enough to warrant an okay rating. The storytelling is incredibly uneven. After I finished the book it seemed as though some plot points were well developed, while others were simply glossed over. And the ending, with about five seconds of action, was actually pretty bad. It reminded me of writing papers for school and scrambling to write a final paragraph and click submit the minute it is due: the result is something that doesn't match the rest of the story, and doesn't really wrap up in any logical way. I would be completely unsurprised if there are spinoff novels featuring Rebecca and Cindy, the two likable supporting characters, both single of course. Eh, I guess if they're free like this one I might read them, since they are quick and easy.

Beautiful Love Story!

I'm glad I overlooked the 1-star ratings due to a computer/software glitch and not the story itself (so unfair to the author) because this was a nice read! Love, pain, mental/emotional illnesses, forgiveness, strength, animals and wildlife, city and country life, a touch of crime......and death. Oh, and more love! You'll laugh, cry and smile. It's all here!

A nice read, very typical of a romance of this sort. Had some nice moments, but also some flat spots too. It was very readable though.
