Taken hostage while teaching abroad, Amanda Warren was convinced she was going to die until U.S. Navy SEAL Will Gerard charged in to rescue her. Now she wonders if she'll ever feel safe and whole again.
Her injuries left her with few memories of her ordeal, except the fear. Striving to heal, she's driven to find Will and ask him for help once again -- and discovers there's something familiar and reassuring about him.
While Amanda considers him her hero, Will tells himself he was just doing his job – to save her, then forget about her. But he admires her courage, wants her to feel safe in his arms. It’s up to Amanda to convince Will that he is her hero, the hero of her heart.
This was a really good story. Ugh to think that this actually could happen to someone is so sad. For Will not being apart of Sam and Rachel's family growing up I was worried I wouldn't get as attached to him at the others but it was such a good story to read.
“Hero of my Heart” features the very popular Navy Seal Hero protagonist. That isn’t improbable, but his rushing in like an action hero because someone’s father asked you to certainly is.
Will is a protector by nature. He didn't have the best childhood so he vowed he would always protect the innocent. Amanda saw the good in the world. She believed that educating children would bring peace to the world. She saw through those lenses because of her father, an ambassador. Then everything went crazy. Will became her protector. Amanda knew from the moment she placed her hand in his, he was someone to trust. This story is about their journey together. Your heart will break at times but the courage and strength of Amanda will amaze you. First book by this author but will not be my last.
A very moving story from a great author. It is interesting to see such a contemporary theme, with Amanda having been held hostage by terrorists, and Will so involved himself in operations.
A very admirable SEAL hero who slightly overshadows the heroine, with his strength, intelligence and big heart. I loved having a kind hero, because kindness is truly the best quality I can think of for a real man!
It is difficult to write a review without giving away too much about the story, but read it!
I really enjoyed this story! Yes, the subject matter was heavy and intense, but I thought the author handled everything in a realistic and sensitive way. At first I wasn't sure if I liked the back and forth between the past and present day, but it grew on me as the story progressed. Amanda and Will are both such like-able characters. They are both strong characters who are flawed, and I thought their relationship was great. The writing is really what set this book apart for me, and I will certainly be reading more from this author!
I read this as part of an anthology, Wet N Wild Navy SEALs. It was hands down he best story out of the lot. I loved the characters, and the journey they were on. Some aspects regarding Will and his job as a SEAL seemed a bit unrealistic, but given I'm not a SEAL I wouldn't know for sure, so it didn't bother me at all.
All of her stories are about hope, long shots and finding happiness. I feel connected to all her characters. So this one is the perfect next one in the series because the two main characters have so much to overcome and they do.
