Even better than the last volume. The action starts from the very beginning and doesn't let up until the end.

Peter Brandvold – Yakima Henry – The Thunder Riders – Reviewed 4/28/21 – Read 4/27-28/21
Two lawdawgs get in Henry’s way while trying to rescue Wolf and his friend after both were taken!
Yakima Henry was awoken in the night when he heard Wolf nickering. Trusting his horse to alert him to trouble, Yakima stepped out to find the Apaches after the horses. He knew that they would be wanting supplies, and his scalp next. After taking all of them down, Yakima figured that it would only be right to let everyone in town know that the Apaches were raiding again, while he was there, he could pick up some more supplies.
On his way into town, he decided that he should stop by and let his old pard know the news also. When he got there, he realized that he was too late. The old prospector had had the same visitors but not with the same results. He had been savagely killed. Walking out of the cabin he heard a voice calling out for him to drop his weapons. An older Marshal approached him with an attitude like all others about his being half Indian. This time Yakima was not in any mood to be messed with. He promptly took the Marshal down, tied him to his horse, and sent the horse off at a run. That being done he decided to burn the cabin with his friend still in it as there was no way to properly bury him.
Arriving in town he stopped in at the Sheriff’s office to pass on the news about the Apaches, of course, he received a nasty reception with the same attitude as the old Marshal had. After delivering his message, he left telling the Sheriff he would be leaving early the next day. The next morning while he was eating breakfast, he heard a commotion in front of the restaurant, with lots of gunshots. Rushing outside to see what was going on, he found a gang of men robbing the gold shipment that had just arrived. Yakima spotted an unknown man that was standing near the hitching post where Wolf was tied. Mysteriously Wolf pulled away from the rail and into the street, the man right behind him grabbing the apple, pulling himself aboard. He took off following after the others. But, as we all know, Wolf, is a one-man horse and he made a big fuss. On the other hand, though, with everything going on, the gunshots, including the one that Yakima thought hit the man, and everyone screaming, Wolf was scared, and he took off with the outlaw still aboard. The gang leader of the Thunder Riders, spotted a young black-haired woman, reaching down, he hefted her across his saddle in front of him while following the others out of town.
Now two things happened after this, first Yakima’s friend was the young woman, and second, that was his prized horse and best friend that the outlaw was riding. We all know you just don’t lay down and forget about it, Yakima’s next move was to go after both of them!!! But plans don’t always go right for Yakima Henry, it’s just not in the cards! The Sheriff, the ornery cuss that he was, naturally figured that Yakima had to be a member of the gang, so seeing him still there he promptly arrested him. Yakima figured that being locked up in a cell was not the best way to start getting Wolf back or the rescue of his friend.
Join Yakima in the battle of wits and the journey ahead of him…
What did I like? Gee Whiz, what is there not to like? One tall good looking man, one truly incredible horse, and both packed with trouble every time they turn around. If it is not the local law messing with Yakima, it is some owlhoot trying to steal his horse, but who would not want that well-trained, tall silky muscle-packed horse flesh? Well, that is until they try to climb up on the hurricane deck or turn their head and a nip of the shoulder happens!! Either way, both events will give us another exciting adventure featuring the two of them!!!
What will you like? Aside from the two incredible lead characters, there is action, adventure, new places, kidnapped friends, gunplay, humor, new friends, lovers, and adventures. That will fill your night with the jaw-dropping rescue of Wolf and Yakima’s lady friend! Along the way, you will find some interesting and amazing scenery from the trip to Mexico with tantalizing descriptions and details, that will bring everything to life in your mind's eye. I especially like the view of the tall dark handsome Yakima! I can do a real good view of the antics and actions of that man! LOL “The Thunder Riders” available today, May 11, 2021

Yakima Henry is a man who seems to fight for every day he lives. As a half-breed, he has no family, lives alone and travels where he is not wanted. This adventure is as a result of a bank robbery in Saber Creek. Now having a small ranch in the mountains where he trains horses for the military, his life takes a drastic turn as he heads down for supplies. His prized stallion, Wolf, is still his best friend. There are twists in this story; there are lawmen after him; and, he battles for the life of a saloon girl. There is plenty of emotion in this story that will make you gasp. My hubby and I share the enjoyment of a good western and we have loved this read.

Brilliant read if you like shoot-em-ups, nice follow up from Lonely Breed. I like how Brandvold delves into a character's story at some unexpected moment, as he did with the two lawmen, and with Yakima in the previous book. Both books were page turners that had you promising yourself to stop at the end of the chapter and promptly breaking that promise.

Yakima unbeknownst, attempting to rescue his favorite horse and a woman he knew about! Whites being very prejudice in breeds and creating tense situation because of Yakima’s being half Indian and not trusted by townspeople makes situation very dangerous and intense!!

Another fantastic read from Pete Brandvold. Like so many of his books it is filled with rich characters that draw you into the story.
Plenty of action to keep you turning pages.

If you enjoy westerns with a kick butt main character that’s full of action you will enjoy this story. Yakima Henry can’t stay out of trouble but he takes no lip from anyone. When his horse(Wolf) is taken by the Thunder Riders gang, he is soon hit on their trail and will not quit until he has retrieved his horse and taken vengeance on the gang that took him.

I was deeply disappointed when I read about two !minutes of the book and found that I had been taken in by new Jacket Cover and new name on the book. It was just a scam. I had read the book before and have read many of Branvolds books - but no more..

This was yet another rip roaring bloody western tale featuring the half-breed Yakima Henry. He's a man of honor and true grit. I think I would describe him as an old West Jack Reacher-Sam Pope (by Robert Enright) combination.

A very bloody ,action packed story. Also, abuse against women is very prevalent. Racism is also blatant. Would not recommend to anyone under sixteen.

Entertianing western. I personally dislike the ending but it gives it a nice twist. I'll definately read more of Frank Leslie's work in the future.
