Ophelia Broulliard’s life has always been linked to the wealthy and powerful DuChamps family. The granddaughter of the family’s housekeeper, she’s worshipped Vincent DuChamps from afar--the ever unattainable prince in her fairy tale dreams. Little does she know that Vincent harbors his own secret feelings for her, but other darker secrets that he sees as an insurmountable obstacle to ever being the man she deserves have prompted him to avoid her altogether.
When Thomas, the family patriarch, dies, his will bears some unpleasant surprises for them both. Thomas wants nothing more than for Vincent and his siblings to be happy, and in his final act as the only father figure they’ve ever had, he engineers a series of contingencies in his will that require them each to face their demons. Only too aware of what Vincent really feels for Ophelia, Thomas creates a situation that will force Vincent to confront his feelings. Unless Vincent and Ophelia marry, Vincent and his siblings will lose everything, including the family business.
Forced into such close proximity, denying their attraction for one another becomes impossible. But even as they grow closer, other threats to the future of DuChamps Hotels and all that Vincent holds dear threaten to destroy their burgeoning relationship. Ophelia has played it safe her whole life. Taking a risk on Vincent is a frightening prospect. Will it be worth it, or will his secrets break both their hearts?

This is not your typical 'billionaire' type story. The two main characters, who have known each other for most of their lives (another thing I loved), have always loved and fantasized about the other. It is through a very unexpected situation that the pair are thrust (hehe) together and forced to marry or a lot of bad things will occur.
I absolutely adored this story. There's such an explosive chemistry between the two main characters that crackled right off the page. I knew right off the bat this was going to be a great story because of Vincent. All the Alpha males who think they are incapable of love have the best and most beautiful stories because they fall the hardest. Him and Ophelia have this unbelievable, raw passion that blossoms into the most unconditional forms of love. It was quite the ride watching these two find their well deserved happiness.
The story line was great and really interesting. I love all of the 'hoops' their beloved Uncle is making them jump through in order to get their inheritance. I think what makes it even better is that all of the things he's making them do are incredibly beneficial to them. It's like he's taking care of them, even after death. I loved the brief flashbacks/nightmares Vincent has of his parents, I really like how that develop his character further and helps the reader to understand why he does the things he does.
What was amazing to me was how intrigued I was by all of the characters. I liked them all and look forward to reading about what the other two DuChamps siblings will have to go through in their own stories. I like that all of the characters are so mysterious and have all of their own secrets. Ophelia's roommate was a hoot and I'd love to read more about her, too!
I love the author's writing style and the way she added in little touches of New Orleans to give the story a wonderful richness that was just the icing on the cake. I love the fact that not only is the heroine a lovely, larger lady, but she went from being a helper to the family, a 'maid'/caretaker', to the incredibly wealthy bride of a high up business man.
I look forward to reading more from this author and continuing this series!!
I wish I could rate this book with more stars. Seraphina Donavan is my new author to watch. I really enjoyed this book.
I loved the characters in this book. The female character, Ophelia, was my favorite. Ophelia is abandoned by her drug addicted sometimes incarcerated mother. She does not now he father's identity. She was raised by a loving grandmother alongside the nephews and neices of her grandmother's employer. Ophelia makes no excuses for her past and though the actions of her mother hurt her they didn't cripple her. Her character comes across as being very pragmatic and focused on moving forward with her life. Ophelia is described as being a very curvaceous size 18. She doesn't flaunt her body, but she doesn't apologize for it either. I loved that she did have some insecurities about her body but this wasn't one of those books where the plus size heroine is depressed about her size, has low self-esteem, and can't believe anyone would want her. She doesn't do theatrics and give as well as take any catty remarks thrown her way. What I think I loved most is that her actions made sense and she didn't try to play unnecessary games. She was attracted to Vincent, our hero, and when he kissed her she went for it without regrets. Her initial reaction when she knew that she and Vincent would share a bed was to demand that there be no sex. However, she realized that with the attraction between them that was impossible. She decided to go along for as long as their relationship lasted. That was a breath of fresh air. I was so tired of girl fighting her attraction to boy only to give in 6 chapters later. What a waste!!
Vincent is a tortured soul. He was exposed to more as a boy than he ever should have been and those memories continue to haunt him. He is determined to different from his parents but afraid he's simply too much like them. Vincent made mistakes, but I loved that the author allowed you to peek into his psyche to understand why he hurt Ophelia. His character is honest, noble, self-sacrificing, generous, and handsome.
The plot is predictable but the ride is so enjoyable you really don't mind. Vincent and Ophelia get their HEA. We meet a bratty younger sister, vindictive wannabe lover, and conniving business partner among other interesting characters along the way. Vincent and Ophelia rate a 10 on steam. There are numerous scenes written in vivid details in a variety of settings that will have you reaching for a cold glass of water. This book is a treat in every sense of the word.I wish I could rate this book with more stars. Seraphina Donavan is my new author to watch. I really enjoyed this book.

The author gave me this book for an honest review.
What a nice read! Really, I didn’t know what to expect from this book when the author asked me to review it. I am so glad I did it! The book has great plot, well-written characters and it’s obvious that the author is very talented! I enjoyed it from the first page until the last! And, now, I wish I had more!
The story seems simple but as you read you can see that this is not the case. When Thomas, the family patriarch, dies, his will has many surprises. One of them is that in order for his nephew to get the inheritance he has to marry the granddaughter of family’s housekeeper, Ophelia. Why he’s doing this? Because everybody knows that they are great for each other but the fear of his dark past, makes Vincent scared and he doesn’t admit his feelings for Ophelia. And now, they have to deal with their feelings and be happy.
My first opinion about Ophelia was that she’s too good to be true. She’s seems the perfect woman. But as I was reading the story, I saw that she has a great strength. She didn’t have the best life as a child because her mother is a drug addict but she did her best to be nothing like her. She’s not afraid to feel and to love and when there is need she’s brave enough to admit what she wants.
Vincent is a haunted man. He believes that because he looks like his father he has the same character also. But this is far from the truth. His father was irrational and abusive but Vincent is a very kind man. He loves Ophelia and he doesn’t want to hurt her. His past makes him act badly but now he has a chance to be happy. There were times that I wanted to punch him but at the end he did everything great!
I liked the plot in this book a lot. My only complaint is that at the end everything happened quickly. Nevertheless, it was a read that I enjoyed it very much and I recommend it to all the fans of this genre!
Holy S%^(! Could you just imagine? Seriously, could you just imagine being in that position?
Donavan writes with a down to earth writing style rarely seen in romance literature. It lets you focus on the characters and the storyline instead of a multiplicity of flowery words. Donavan still paints a brilliant picture for her audience through her brilliant descriptions and attention to detail. Not only does she build an amazingly vivid world for her characters to live in and her readers to walk through, but Donavan also has a very solid storyline for everything and everyone to revolve around.
I really appreciate the well-developed yet less than perfect characters that Donavan has created for this novel. Each of them are a uniquely crafted person, complete with a history and personality of their own. They also have problems of their own. And the main characters do end up with one heck of a problem to deal with. Even though on the surface this is your typical billionaire and the help type novel, it’s also quite atypical. These intriguing characters make it so.
This novel, however racy, is about stepping outside your perceptions and accepting who you are. Donavan just brings her message around in an extremely exceptional way, one that you won’t be able to put down. My final thoughts? I honestly cannot wait to read more by this brilliant author.
Please note that I received this novel free of charge from the author in exchange for an honest review.
A great start to a new series that includes some light BDSM elements that only add to its appeal. It’s touching, romantic, exciting, sensual and even a bit…magical. A great escape for any fans of the genre to enjoy :)
Opelia has known the DuChamps for a very long time and has had the hots for Vincent for just as long. Knowing it’ll never happen because they’re from two completely different worlds. She chose never to approach him with her feelings. But right now fate and Thomas have different ideas and there’s no stopping either one!
Vincent DuChamps is a wealthy, successful and handsome many that holds deep secrets. Secrets that have scarred him deep. Knowing the choice that must be made to save his family’s business both is and is not torture. He knows Thomas always liked to meddle. But always did so within reasoning and with good intentions. Now he’s thinking he may have went a bit over board with it and is REALLY testing Vincent’s control.
Been Loving You Too Long is a great story that leaves you wanting more in the very best of ways. I look forward to the next in the series. I hope it’s not too long of a wait!
I absolutely LOVED this book and am on tenterhooks for the rest in the series to come out! Found the story to have an actual well developed PLOT and all of the (ahem)"action sequences" to be as down and dirty as one could POSSIBLY wish for. Managed not to feel like a total idiot while reading this book. BRAVO!
A lovely erotic that offers a refreshing change to the overly saturated dark billionaire and his virgin like lover. This couple talked and the heroine didn't have to play the ingenue in their kinky games. I enjoyed the romance but felt the conflict resolved to easily and some plot elements didn't quite develop as I though they would. Looking forward to book two.
My biggest complaint about this book was the editing. There were numerous mistakes in the beginning of this story that made it very hard to get into. In all honesty it threw the whole book off for me. I wish I could go back and magically erase all the typos because I think that it would have gotten a higher rating from me. That being said I feel that Seraphina Donavan has definitely pulled off writing her first novel length book.
Been Loving You Too Long is a story about how two people who are over the moon for each other finally get together. They didn't do it willingly though. In fact they were blackmailed into it. Of course by the end of the book they were thankful for it and it was fun watching them figure it out. While the details of the blackmail were harsh I know that the blackmailer had all the confidence in the world that Vincent and Ophelia would come out on top of the situation. On the flip side though can you imagine being in a situation like that?
Vincent and Ophelia were both very believable characters. Vincent's demons were completely understandable and I wouldn't have minded it if the author had milked his anguish a bit more over them. What Ophelia had going for her IMO was her acceptance of her size, her goody two shoes behavior and her sense of style. Her backbone wasn't too bad either. I was very pleased with the brisk way that she dealt with the visitor from her past when they showed up. She didn't get pull a pitty party at the appearance. She just dealt with it and moved on.
Though I liked both of the protagonists it was a member of the supporting caste that really caught my eye. Vincent's sister Kaitlyn is a bitch but she's also a hot mess. I swear the girl doesn't know whether she's coming or going. She's surely a member of the it's a woman's prerogative to change her mind club. I'm really looking forward to reading her story.
Though at times sweet, Been Loving You Too Long was more spicy than anything else. Be prepared to jump right into the sexing. Ophelia and Vincent had no problems on that front ;) Some of the scenes had a slight BDSM flavor that I found delightful.
Been Loving You Too Long may have it's problems but if you can get past them you're bound to like the story. With wonderful characters, an interesting plot and hot love scenes how could you not?
I am totally convinced that Seraphina wants me to lose sleep.
I mean she wouldn't write this good of a story if she didn't want me to stay up for two nights--way to late--to read it right?
I mean first you have Ophelia.
I am a picky girl when it comes to my lead females. Not only is she a BBW type character, but she's got a personality that I can totally relate to. She's a real woman. She doesn't sit and wallow in her self loathing--she doesn't take the world for granted around her, and she knows that Vincent wants HER! She's totally aware of that fact, and allows herself to feel sexy for that!
God, I so totally wanted to be her friend and girl talk over Cosmos with her! That is how I feel with my hubs! You can't find something more perfect than that--but wait. We have turmoil--in the form of lame Claude, Melina the T word, and Vincent that wouldn't know love if it walloped him up side the head.
Yes, like any proper billionaire--he acted stupid. But that is what Kaitlyn is for! She is there to make him feel even more stupid and whip them all into shape. Yes, she may be 'cold hearted', but she brought a level of dynamic to the storyline that without her--it wouldn't have been the same family or story!
Each character reached out of the book and sang me their story in one heck of a literary romance!
Then we got spanking! I mean--I'm in the lifestyle--I appreciate spankings--however, so many writers over do just a simple spanking. This was written so perfect. It was just right and I appreciated the scenes of light kink that I smiled and got all wiggly in my bed sheets!
If you haven't read Seraphina yet, you MUST! She is an excellent story teller, and this will not be the last book I read!
This novel follows the popular storyline of rich dude and poor chick falling in love... sort of? Ophelia Broulliard and Vincent DuChamps have loved and lusted after each other for many years. The story follows their rather roller coaster ride into marriage. After the patriarch of the family dies suddenly, his will dictates the three DuChamps siblings to complete certain tasks to get access to their inheritance. Throughout the story, Vincent is trying to resolve the scars left from a childhood witnessing his parents' murder suicide by car. While Ophelia cared for the ailing Thomas, Vincent tries to keep the family hotel business from floundering and being corrupt by another family member. Forced not unhappily into marriage after a one night affair together, Ophelia and Vincent are married within a couple days of the will reading. After lots of graphic scenes of sexy time (involving the nice girl not being nice), Ophelia learns some possibly disturbing results, and Vincent is battling to trap the relative who is corrupting the business. The story ends with another sexy time sequence and the happy couple vowing to make it work. Story was predictable and an easy romantic read filled with lots of sexy time scenes. To be honest, I ended up skipping over those scenes after the first/second one so I could continue the story. Not a mind blowing read, but simple romantic read to keep the reader entertained.
Note: I was provided this book by I.O. Book Tours for a honest review.
This story reminds me of why I enjoy reading category contemporary romance—the on-page interactions between the hero and heroine, the hook of the heart-tugging emotional conflict, and the sizzling romance. This book had it all.
I loved the hero, Vincent DuChamps. I totally bought his conflict. He is the epitome of the tycoon with a dark past (tortured hero = big smile for me). Ophelia is my kind of girl. Although she is supposedly Ms goody, she's strong and flawed. They are truly a match for each other, although they had to be forced together to realize it.
Have I mentioned that this story sizzled from page to page. There was never a dull moment. And also the set up for the next stories in the series are done well so much so that I'm awaiting the next book.
The author's writing style is so easy to read that you get swept along with the story, living the scenes through the eyes of the characters. My only pet-peeve was the head-hopping in some places. But then again this is my personal preference. I know some people don't mind it.
Several times I was reminded of stories by some of my favorite Harlequin authors. This story has the glamour of a Harlequin Desire with the steaminess of a Harlequin Blaze.
My Verdict: I loved this story. In fact I'm already stalking Amazon for the next book in the series. I want to read Kaitlyn's story!
My Recommendations: I would recommend this story to all lovers of steamy romance.
Firstly, I wish that synopsis wasn’t as detailed! I had not read the synopsis before reading this book and I was absolutely stunned that the two main characters, Vincent and Ophelia, were forced to marry. But, that being said, there is much more in here for them to deal with, much more! The drama was just as interesting as the sex! Whew!!!
I absolutely loved the push / pull between Vincent and Ophelia. And it really is so nice that this is the exact opposite of an insta-love story. And since they have known each other forever, they had many other complications to deal with.
I could not put this book down. I’m so excited because I have SADLY never heard of Seraphina Donovan but this will not be the last book that I read of hers. The writing was fabulous, the plot was engaging, characters were interesting! I loved every word, and boy were the sex scenes intense. Even when they weren’t having sex I could feel the heat emanating from my Kindle! AND this is just book one of the series! The other two main characters that are introduced I sure will be in books two and three. I sure hope so because I want to get to know more about them now.
Fabulous read! Definitely adult! Read in one sitting while shooing my husband away! ;)
BEAUTIFUL LOVE STORY, SOMETIMES LOVE JUST IS, YOU JUST CAN'T CHANGE THAT. STORY OF TWO PEOPLE VINCENT, "THE BILLIONAIRE" AND OPHELIA, "THE HIRED HELP", TRY NOT WANTING EACH OTHER. SINCE THEY HAVE LOVED EACH OTHER SINCE CHILDHOOD EVENTUALLY (with a little help)SOMETHING OR ONE OF THEM IS GOING TO CRACK. I LOVED THE ANGST (usually don't like that, wasn't over done) AND THE HOT,FREAKY-DIKY STEAMY SEX SCENES, THAT SMOKED OFF THE PAGES. WHEW!! THERE IS A SEQUEL TO THIS, I DON'T KNOW HOW MANY MORE ARE COMING, BECAUSE IT IS ABOUT THE "DUCHAMPS DYNASTY" THIS BOOK SHOWCASED VINCENT AND HE HAS A SISTER, KAITLYN AND BROTHER JUSTIN. LOTS OF SECRETS AND UNRESOLVED BACKSTORIES AT THE END OF THE BOOK. ONE THING I REALLY LOVE IS THE STORY MADE ME WONDER WHAT'S GOING TO HAPPEN NEXT, WITH SO MANY SERIES BEING WRITTEN TODAY (so sick of them) THAT'S HARD FOR ME TO DO. I CAN'T WAIT TO READ KAITLYN'S STORY AND FIND OUT WHAT COUSIN CLAUDE AND HIS BUDDY TATE IS UP TO AND WHERE IS JUSTIN AND HAS BRENNA FOUND LOVE, WAS THE HOTEL OPENING A SUCCESS, WHAT THOSE BITCHES MELINA & VENESSA ARE PLOTTING NOW????????????????????????????????????? SO MANY QUESTIONS! SIGH! ;?

3.5 Stars. Almost made it to 3.75 which would have rounded up to 4. But alas, there were parts that dragged a bit. Overall, I enjoyed it. I liked how sneaky the 'family patriarch' & Ophelia's grandmother arrange for these 2 to get together. Mostly it was a fun erotic read. The sex scenes were steamy. It NEEDED to move faster.
Ophelia has loved Vincent since they were children but she is the granddaughter of the housekeeper. Vincent has grown up to become the CEO of the Dechamps family business. His uncle Thomas is gravely ill and he has added some interesting provisions into his will. Would it turn Ophelia and Vincent's world up side down?
Two people who have loved each other for years are suddenly thrown into a marriage of convenience. Their love is undeniable even though they each battle against it. Even with all their secrets and insecurities, They realize the cannot function without each other and finally admit what everyone else has known. True love once again rocks the house!!!
First time I met Seraphina was this past Saturday at a Pens on Fire event. She have me a signed copy of this book. I started it and couldn't put it down. The history and chemistry between Ophelia and Vincent was heart warming and real. Defiantly not my last book by this young lady.
This is a short erotic romance (very light BDSM) with an interesting setting, a strong plot, and engaging characters. It's well written and a great start to a series I will follow. :-)
You people should just read this book yourselves and write your own review on this novel yourself and I really enjoyed reading this book very much so. Shelley MA
This is definitely one book I need to read special parts to my husband! Whew! Great story, great characters, great plot. Great book. Great job! Looking forward to reading the whole set!
I found this to be your typical Billionaire falls in love with a woman outside his social standing, with a few little twists. For example, the way they are thrust together is very different! Vincent DuChamps, said Billionaire, has been lusting after Ophelia for years, unwilling to pursue her due to his fear that he is just like his father!
Another thing is the length of time the two have known each other. Ophelia is the granddaughter of the family’s housekeeper and has been regarded as part of the family for many years and was employed as Thomas’ assistant up until his death.
Finally giving into their lust and seeking comfort in each other after Vincent’s beloved Uncle Thomas passes away. Only for things to take a disastrous turn…Vincent’s fears playing in his mind!!! Ophelia barely has time to bask in the afterglow of their encounter, when Vincent turns indifferent and basically kicks her out of his bed!!
The very next day, Ophelia is unexpectedly summoned to the reading of Uncle Thomas’s will. Aware of Vincent’s lustful attraction to Ophelia, Thomas engineers a plan to force them together! Still reeling from anger and embarrassment of the treatment she received from Vincent, it is announced that the two of them are to marry within two months in order for Vincent to remain at the helm of the family hotel empire.
Of course they are hesitant to do so, but realize that there are no other options…too many things are at stake!
Once married the twists and turns continue…from the conniving cousin to a jealous wanna be lover of Vincent’s, to the blackmailing mother-in-law!
I enjoyed reading this book, it was a quick and easy read with a little bit of everything in it. But when I say a little bit of everything I mean a little bit of everything! Of course there is the SEX! Isn’t that why we read these books?! There are some pretty hot and heavy sex scenes with a hint BDSM! The scenes were erotic enough and left you wishing there were more!
There was a little bit of conflict, however I found that each conflict was too easily resolved. It was like the conflict just started and by the next chapter it was quickly and neatly resolved with no crazy messy drama in between! Personally, I would have like to see more drama in it!
I really enjoyed the interaction between Vincent and Ophelia, he wasn’t overly demanding and controlling, knowing when to be controlling (in the bedroom) and when not to be was a refreshing change! I also loved Ophelia’s confidence! Once Vincent said he was into her, that was it and she never overly questioned it! I especially liked how she was able to stand up for herself after their first encounter, after all it she seems to be a woman of good moral values! It also left me wondering if Vincent and Ophelia were going make it the mandatory year, or not?! So in that regard it didn’t conclude their story for me! This is the first in a series of 3, which could also be read on their own or together. So I’m hoping that if I read all 3 that I get some closure on Vincent and Ophelia, but reading the premises of the other books I’m not sure those questions will be answered?
I had never read any of this author writings, but took a chance and really glad I did. Just bought the full series. You fall in love with Vincent and love his better half. The sister leaves something to be desired but there is reasons for it, actually for all of the siblings. Great story, great love, great author.
The Premise Ophelia Broulliard has loved Vincent DuChamps forever. She has grown up with him and his siblings in Thomas DuChamps’ care since they were children and both of them have kept away from each other because ….well, we’ll get to that in a moment. Thomas dies, and leaves a rather outrageous will which forces all the DuChamps siblings to face their demons by jumping several hoops to claim their inheritance. This book focuses on just Vincent, and his requirement is that he marry Ophelia or he loses his inheritance and the family company and her grandmother would be tossed out into the street.
The Good Good sexual chemistry between the H/h - I could believe their love scenes and they were pretty hot. I liked that the heroine Ophelia, was pretty level headed and practical, but not boring. She’s a curvy girl, but it wasn’t the focal point of the story and what insecurities she had were handled in a believable manner.
The Could Have Been Better Vincent could have been a much better hero, but even as I write this review, I’m struggling to remember any details about him. The setup seems so detailed and yet, I finished the book feeling as if I didn’t really know much more about the characters than when I started, with the possible exception of Ophelia. There are confrontations that simply don’t happen, and the story just felt a bit shallow. There’s a reference to BDSM, but there’s barely any in the book.
The Bottom Line I've read other books by this author, and I think she has promise. This book, while not bad, and not outstanding, if you want a simple erotic romance featuring a curvy girl, you may enjoy this. I just think this author is capable of more.
My Thoughts - 4 out of 5 unicorns - I really liked it!! **I got this book on Amazon during a Free promo, but I was alerted to it because I’m a judge for Author Reader Con and asked to read it.
Okay, the cover doesn’t do anything for me. It is not that there is anything wrong with it, but there is also nothing to attract me to this book in the cover.
I do not usually read Contemporary Romance, but I found I really liked this story. I loved that it was set in New Orleans, and I think this is why I connected to it. I have been New Orleans several times because when I was in the Air Force, I was stationed near there for tech school. I loved the French Quarter.
This story sort of reminds me of the movie The Gift with the will stuff going on after Thomas’ death. I really liked how Vincent loves his family and takes care of them. He is strong, but his demons keep him from finding what he needs.
Ophelia is sweet and caring, but I was a little annoyed at times because I would have liked her to be more confident and strong. Again that’s just my personal preference.
I loved the connections made to New Orleans because it made me connect to everything. If you are a fan of New Orleans and Contemporary Romance, then this is probably a great story for you :) I personally want to see what happens in Kaitlyn’s story in book 2 because she seems more like what I want my female lead to be :)
Vincent and his siblings were raised by his Uncle Thomas shortly after his parents' demise. Unfortunately, Vincent being the oldest, has vivid memories of his father's jealousy and his parents constant bickering that he reached the conclusion that marriage only brings misery. Uncle Thomas' assistant was the housekeeper' s granddaughter Ophelia. She grew up alongside the Beauchamp siblings and has always been in love with Vincent. Little did she know that he was attracted to her as well. After a passionate one night stand with Ophelia, Vincent decides it was a huge mistake and vows to stay away from her. At the reading of Uncle Thomas' will, it states that in order for the siblings to keep their inheritance, Vincent and Ophelia must get married. Not only must they live together but also share the same bed for one year. Will Vincent's haunting memories ruin his chances for a lifetime of happiness?
This was an unusual romance novel. Instead of a love hate relationship, or one person chasing the other, we see two people that have been secretly in love with each other since childhood. This was certainly an example of opposites attracting. The story was pretty good and flowed nicely. The only issues I had were: 1) Ophelia seemed a little too easy for my taste considering she's supposedly so proper. 2) There's quite a bit of sexual content, I don't think this novel is considered erotica but it was pretty graphic. Other than that, I think this was a great romance.
