I received an ARC copy of this book in return for an honest review.
There is a band of Outlaws going around torturing then killing, robbing families and burning down their houses along with killing all of their livestock. Rena was picking grapes when the attack on her house and her husband happened. Her husband was smart though and prepared for something like this and they had a code word if there was danger and she was to go to the hiding spot that he had made for her. Unfortunately in her hiding spot she could see everything that they did to her elderly husband Abram.
Shortly after the attack Storm finds her. This same group of men had killed his friend and his wife and he became a Marshall after that so that he could arrest them and bring them in for justice. Rena vows to go with Storm to find these men and is determined to kill at least one of them for what they did to Abram. She also wants to get her dowry back.
Storm cannot bring himself to think of Abram as having been Rena's husband as she is younger than Storm even. Rena eventually tells him that Abram married her for her protection as she was not safe when they were only saying that she was his granddaughter. Rena is afraid that Storm will leave her behind the first chance he gets so she will not let him get separate rooms when they do stop in towns. Therefore they have to pretend that they are married. This eventually begins to be hard on Storm as he is attracted to Rena but will not act on his desires because of the fact that they are not married.
While on the groups trail they come across more home that they had attacked. In one such home there happens to be three now orphaned children. They grow attached to these children very fast. Now the choice has to be made. Do they continue on the path to get the group of Outlaws or if they stay together and take care of the children. This was a great book. I could hardly put it down. If life and kids did not interfere I would not have.... I loved it and I highly recommend it.

I enjoyed this better than Book 3. Storm was a great hero, and this book completed his story from Book 1, when he was just a teen. I liked the action in this book and I like the fact that the heroine grew emotionally from the beginning of the book to the end.

The Most Unsuitable Courtship
I anxiously waited for the next book in the Kincaid Series. I have to say The Most Unsuitable Courtship was even better than I expected! And believe me; I expect a lot from Caroline Clemmons. Her stories have never failed to meet my expectations.
Rena witnesses the brutal murder of her elderly husband who had saved and protected her from the time of her father’s death. She loved her elderly husband the way one would love a wise and protective grandfather, in fact that was the nature of their relationship. When Federal Marshal Storm Kincaid arrived just after the murder of her husband and destruction of her home place Rena knew, with his help, she would be able to avenge her husband’s murder.
Though Federal Marshal Kincaid opposed her decision, he realized if she did not travel with him she would set out to complete her errand of vengeance on her own and would most assuredly be killed.
With this the two set out, one to seek vengeance, the other to bring justice. What the two experience range from fear to pain to horror to hope to expectation to love and happiness. In short, a roller coaster ride of emotion and adventure that leaves the reader counting the days till the next story in the Kincaid Series.
I highly recommend this book. All the books in the Kincaid Series are wonderful reads. You need not think you have to start from the beginning to read the series. Each book is a story in itself. It is great fun to read them in order because there will be reintroduction to characters you have already read about and fallen in love with, but it is not necessary to enjoy the story in hand.
I hope you read and enjoy the Kincaid stories as much as I do.

A good read
Storm- temporary marshal to get justice
Rena- widow as she watch (hidden) those who killed her husband.
This is an action pack edge of your seat with not much reprieve. Their story has a wonderful HEA.

This is the third story in this series of 4 books. I was very disappointed in it because Caroline Clemmons went to the well one too many times; this couple also saves three orphans. This device has been used three times in three books. The first story was slightly different because Drake rescues Pearl and her 2 half-siblings. Still.
This story begins with a bang; murders thunder onto the farm of German immigrants Abram and Rena. She runs to hide in the place her husband had created in advance. Rena watches, powerless to do anything to help. as the murders torture and then kill Abram.
She is still in shock when Federal Marshal Storm Kincaid arrives at the smoldering wreck of a farm. When Storm finds Rena, all she wants to do is kill the men who killed Abram, shot all their animals, burned the buildings and stole anything valuable. Storm kindly tells her that he is not into vengeance; he wants to take the men to answer for their crimes.
Abram's killers wreak a wide swath of murder and mayhem in front of Rena and Storm. She has nothing left to stay on the farm for and she chooses to ride with Storm. He is a good man who realizes that Rena will be forever changed if she kills any of the men; Rena tells him repeatedly that she doesn't care. The gruesome sights along the trail strengthen Rena's resolve.
Attitudes about killing start to change when Rena and Storm find 3 children in the rubble of a burning building.

I won this book from Goodreads and it was a pleasant read. While it is third in a series it is fine as a standalone book and I was not confused from not having read the previous books. I actually want to the first two books now and the fourth one coming out later this year.
I love it when strong women are in books especially in a time period where women were suppose to be docile and well behaved.
Rena was not about to sit back and let her husband's killers go unpunished and to make sure the job was done she insisted on going with the federal marshal who had made it his job to hunt them down. Despite Storm's (the marshal) attempts to talk Rena out of her radical decision she is steadfast in maintaining that she will see the men brought to justice.
Even though the book starts out pretty morbid it does lightening up and moments of humor, suspense, wonder, mystery, and love are all well balanced out.
I also enjoyed how Clemmons captured the language of the time and made reading the story all the more believable.

I don't usually read western historical romance, I found this author via a BookBub recommendation. I read the first book in this series and I was hooked.
I loved this book - I think it was even better than the first book (which I liked better than the second book). I think Storm is to die for! And Rena was a wonderful heroine. She is smart, spirited and very loyal.
There is a lot of action in this book, right up to the very end. But the story flows so nicely and you are on pins and needles wondering how this is all going to work out to a HEA. While it was not as steamy as the first two - there is plenty of heat and chemistry between Storm and Rena.
The kids were a big part of the story - but never overshadowed the romance or the plot. They were a great addition to the "cast" and I really enjoyed them, I usually avoid books with kids as major characters like the plague.
I am going to read Gabe's story next and then I may check out Ms Clemmons backlist. She is a very talented author and storyteller. I would recommend this series to anyone.

The story of Rena, Storm, and a group of horrifying outlaws. This book has a little of everything. You have Rena, a Russian immigrant, who is brought to the USA because of a tragedy in Russia. She loses her Husband and feels safe with Abraham until tragedy strikes again. Rena witnesses a horrid band of outlaws doing unspeakable things..she wonders how she'll survive long enough to take them down, for their deeds.
She encounters Storm; a charming, sexy, lawman who takes her with him, to keep her safe. They feel an attraction to each other that can't be ignored. however, she doesn't know if she can trust him not to leave her.
things get even more complicated as they follow the trail of devastation left by the outlaws. Every encounter is worse than the last. Can they make it out of this cat and mouse game in one piece? Will love find a way to flourish amidst all the tragedies? You will have to read to find out..you won't be disappointed.

Eyes like a Storm!
Storm has been one if my favorite characters since the beginning of the series. His book is wonderful, full of love, and sorrow, and the way the children were portrayed was just right for a child's character.

TERRIFIC....
This was a great sequel to the kinematics. Storm deserved happiness and he needed a strong women. I also like that they pick up orphans so readily. I am looking forward to number. 4
