Llewelyn Powys was an English novelist and essayist. He was the younger brother of the writers John Cowper Powys and T.F. Powys and a descendent of the poet William Cowper.
A lovely if sometimes painful record of Llewelyn's summer affair with Gamel, a very underrated female poet from the American south. These letters were written once the affair was over.
Read this as part of my research project on Gamel Woolsey. I liked the way the editor wove the letters into a concise and helpful narrative, and the sincerity of the letters made Gamel seem more real to me.
