When I finished reading "Finding Focus" by Jiffy Kate, I was left with an aching hum through my soul. A bit dramatic, right? Well you try grasping the truth that your new favorite book just ended. And there are several reasons why this book just jumped to #1 in my heart.

The story is quite well written. That's a key factor for me to even continue reading a book. It is smooth, eloquent, and it flows from scene to scene with ease. There's details that have you capturing the image in your mind, find

This one was not for me. (This weird tendency for adult American males to live with or near their mothers- they somehow never really grow up- which I seem to be encountering in so much CR lately, is totally killing my buzz. A new shelf is required: mummy-boy-man-child.)
So the man-ho Southern boy meets the NY chick and is reformed. The chick plays the doormat to her cheating, egotistical boyfriend of way too many years but finally cottons on to the fact that- shock horror- she might be better off

So, here's the thing—Jiffy Kate has me completely HOOKED on Sheridan and Micah. The I-want-more-right-now-or-I'm-not-going-to-survive-another-minute kind of hooked that I feel any time I read a book that's so good it traps me inside the pages.

Sheridan Reed escapes to the south on a freelance photojournalism assignment following a series of unfortunate events in her personal life. Originally from the region herself, Sher

"Someone once said life is a like a camera. Just focus on what's important and capture the good times, develop from the negatives, and if things don't work out, take another shot."

I am so in love with this debut novel by Jiffy Kate. This is one of those debut novels that has you asking, "How can this possibly be their debut novel?" From the moment I picked up this book, I was hooked. What I didn't know or expect was that I was going to fall in love with this story so quickly.

I have to say, this was a sexy story with just the right amount of humor. It had me cracking up!

Sheridan (Dani) hasn't had the greatest year, yet when an opportunity falls on her lap that might lead to her big break, she takes it. Little does she know that this opportunity will be life changing!

Dani's opportunity to get reacquainted with her southern roots was not only cute, but also refreshing—especially when you compare it to the life she was living in New York. I could not stop laughing at wh

Finding Focus is the debut publication of writing team Jiffy Kate (Jiff Simpson and Jenny Altman). An adaptation from their fan fiction, Southern Comfort, Finding Focus is the romantic tale of Sheridan (Dani) Reed and Micah Landry.

Dani is a gorgeous girl with Southern roots working as a photojournalist in the Big Apple. Unemployed and stagnating in a long term relationship with her boyfriend (WEASEL ALERT), Graham, Dani accepts a freelance assignment from Southern Style magazine. Her job is to

Thanks to the authors for the book in exchange for a honest review.

Dani is adrift right now. She lost her job and she's not enjoying the relationship she's in anymore. Especially since he's leaving on vacation by himself. Sureeee by himself! Her best friend calls in the nick of time with a freelance job in Louisiana. It was the perfect thing for her at the time. Bag packed she set off on what she hoped was the first in many jobs. Being in Louisiana is just like being home, the area soothes her s

First time novel from Jiffy Kate has some great moments that I loved though there were a few flaws.

This is a story about Dani, a photo journalist who just lost her job and her boyfriend decided to take off on vacation without her. She is given a chance to write an article for a southern magazine her best friend is an editor for and so she leaves New York and heads to Louisiana. There she is profiling a prominent family in the area who live on a plantation.

Micah is the son of the plantation owne

When I read my very first Indie book about 3 years ago, I absolutely fell in love with it. I've always been a reader and this opened up a whole new world for the reading world. I'm a contemporary romance junkie and I admit a cover snob. When I saw this cover, I knew I needed this book in my hands ASAP. After a friend (thanks, Heather!) contacted me saying "I'd really like you to try this book out," I was SO excited.

Let's talk about Dani.. I absolutely loved her. Sometimes I wanted to shake her

This writing duo was new to me, and this was actually a wonderful read. I know that makes it sounds like I was surprised, but I guess I was. I've come to expect a certain formula in romance books, especially ones that are re-written fanfiction stories. This story completely bucked the system and followed it's own rules.

Sheridan 'Dani' Reed is feeling adrift. After months of feeling less then thrilled with her long term boyfriend, Dani loses her job, sending her to Louisiana to do some freelance

For me, Finding Focus is a staple of Southern hospitality and idioms. A well written story that flowed with ease, I became lost in the details of the south that Jiffy Kate drew upon. As a southern woman who takes pride in her heritage, I was enamored by their depiction of the south and what it means to be a southerner. Their characters, well thought out and developed, embodied the principles I was raised upon. The chemistry of land, heritage, and attraction made this book come to life. It’s a gr ...more

Finding Focus is a charming debut from the duo known as Jiffy Kate. I loved the writing, the southern references and the slow burn of two people reaching out and falling in love. Micah’s growth is lovely to read, and Dani’s slow acceptance of what she truly needs, rather than what she has been told she needs was great. I loved the character Annie and her warmth, and the feistiness of BFF Piper, and the brotherly fun with Deacon. Looking forward to more from this team!

Awesome debut from these Southern Belles. I loved the story; it was a fun, charming and quick read. It makes me want to go to Louisiana and find my own Micah Laundry.

Oh who doesn’t love a good old country boy who loves his mama and his family but can also cook and is a charmer with the ladies? I’m talking about Micah Landry. He owns two restaurants with his brother and has no intentions of settling down. He loves them and leaves them which may be his only flaw really. When his family and their beautiful plantation home is up for a feature in a prominent southern magazine, he wasn’t expecting Dani the photographer with red hair and a body buil

This book you guys. It warms my sweet little southern heart.

I read this book at the exact moment that I needed to. It found me in a rough moment, in between a book I couldn't finish and when I just needed a happy ending! I've had a hard time finding a good book since finishing Colleen Hoover's It Ends With Us. That book broke me... and this one just helped put me back together. Walking into this story felt like home... it makes me feel like I can travel to LA and walk through the d

Debut novels are like a treasure hunt for me. There is nothing better than reading an author’s first book and learning to embrace their writing style and ideas. Finding Focus was a brilliant collaboration that made me smile like a giddy fool! This book was fantastic, a story that touches your heart and gives you something to hold on to. It is a love story but there is so much more. It is a story of passion, life, and finding where you belong. Maybe it just speaks to me more based on where I am i ...more

I've been looking forward to reading this book for a long time. There's something about Southern gentlemen and a small town setting that do it for me. It must be because I'm from the South and most men have that charm. Or it could be I love to read about people finding themselves and their bliss. Either way, this book was high on my reading wishlist.

Thankfully Finding Focus didn't disappoint, but surprised me instead. I was expecting something hot and fast but got thoughtful and a slow burn inst

A sweet steamy love story

Easy to read and the world the writer(s) built was vivid and realistic.

The intent of this review isn't to tell you what the story is about. It's to let you know why or why not you would like this book.

I recommend this book to anyone looking for a fun sweet love story. Micah is everything you want in a bad boy turned love struck hero. It reminds me of a Jill Shalvis novel but with more cursing and more detailed sex scenes.

Dani as a protagonist is smart and strong. Nothin

Such a great book!!

I was totally intrigued by the blurb about the book and decided to give it a try, I mean a southern girl going back to her roots and meeting a southern boy....well that can only mean awesome things.
I love Dani & Micah (& the rest of the Landrys)! They way they could banter back and forth from the moment they met was hilarious. I really liked that even though they were flirty, they still had to work to being together. Dani still had to deal with her stupid boyfriend (gah! I wa

Finding Focus is the perfect Southern cure for your cold, winter day. Jiffy Kate weaves a well written, captivating story that will have you craving a charming Micah of your own. There is nothing better than a story that draws you in with strong characters that stay with you long after you’re done reading. The slow burn allows you to truly get to know Dani and Micah. I loved this. Dani and Micah's story is a sweet, funny, journey and I'm drooling over the mental image of sweet as f@$king pie, Micah. I needed a good read to make me smile and even through the little (barely there, IMO) bit of angst, this story did just that! I'd love to read more about these two and hope there's more sweet tales like this to come from Jiffy Kate.
