Naero joins the Spacer Mystics to control her dangerous abilities. The most demanding of the High Masters gives her one choice: Succeed…or be destroyed.
Then the Gigacorps launch a vast plan to destroy the Free Spacer Clans with superior numbers, terrifying advanced weapons, and horrific new alien allies. Naero and her friends fight for freedom and survival against the heaviest odds they’ve ever faced.
Naero rolls the dice again and again, gambling with the fate of everything that matters to her. And she still can't even control herself.

A very good story, with a nice twist at the end for why the aliens are doing what they're doing. One of those, oh, it all makes sense, moments. Very good, and I"m off to pick up the last in the series.
Fantasy/Sci-Fi is definitely an acquired taste for reading. Mason Elliott does a great job, in this second book of this series, to keep the novice fantasy/sci-fi reader interested throughout. Many times he had me wondering how in the heck did he come of with some of the words he used within the book, especially some of the "songs" he had some of the characters singing.
For me, this book earned it's four stars. It would have earned five stars if it wasn't for some of the editorial errors that I found throughout the book.
All-in-all, it is a great read and I would definitely recommend it to anyone interested in the fantasy/sci-fi genre of storytelling.
I enjoyed this book even more than the first. Most of the same characters were back and there was plenty of action. Naero's growth in her abilities as she trains was interesting and the I found the character of Vane to be almost humorous at times. I'm looking forward to reading the third book and seeing where it goes.
Why didn't Naero just go to the Astral plane to get Vale? He showed her how to get there and how to find hom there! Good book but I'm still scratching my head in the ending.
Thoroughly enjoyed it and will start on book three soon. Still some minor editing problems but better than book one. Great read and character development
For instance, Naero's powers are either so overwhelming that she can wipe out a solar system, or they're exhausted and she's helpless. There's no interesting middle ground, and a most of the time she doesn't use them.
"Zillions" of people are involved in the greater conflict, and hundreds or thousands of worlds are conquered in days, all in the span of one sentence. To make happenings on this scale seem other than absurd, the author needs to provide details of how they are accomplished. This is called "Show don't tell." But there are no details here and most things just seem silly.
