He was my new boss. The older single father whose daughter I was supposed to babysit. The man who made my days unforgettable. Until his past caught up to us.
Daniel Delgado was a protector, a caregiver. Falling in love with him was as easy as falling in love with his daughter. He loved with everything he had and he was willing to do whatever it took to protect his loved ones. Myself included. But some dangers couldn’t be fought off. Between dodging his vindictive ex-wife and going to war against the drug and human trafficking cartel that was threatening us, we might’ve been unable to come out unscathed. Or even alive. By the end of it all, we had a lot of days we couldn’t forget. Not all of them were good.
DANNY
She was too young for me. Too free to be tied to my baggage. She was also too enticing for me to ignore, and soon enough my daughter wasn’t the only one falling for the nanny.
Lisa Specter was more than a breath of fresh air. She was my balm, my peace, my partner for life. She colored my daughter’s face with the same ease she adorned my life. I couldn’t stay away from her despite my best efforts. But there were a lot of reasons why us being together was dangerous. My past was coming for us. My job was threatening our lives. My feelings for her were risking our future. For better or for worse, some days were supposed to leave a mark on our lives. Meeting Lisa was one of the best days I’ve had. But the dangerous seesaw we called life had surely worked its number on us. Because the day I watched her life drain right before me? That was one day I could never forget.

This book is a whirlwind of action, filled with many captivating characters and a spicy dynamic between a former Navy SEAL and his nanny. What truly sets this book apart is its emphasis on found family and that each character has an intriguing background and witty banter.
The 12 year age gap between our Danny the SEAL and Lisa the babysitter is enough to be taboo, but in my in opinion it feels fitting because of their characters’ personalities. Danny is so incredibly sweet to his little girl and protective of his friends and family. Lisa is so caring to Sofia and fills the mother shaped void in her life.
Again, this book is action packed book from beginning to end! I hadn't read the first book prior to starting this second one in the series, but I still understood everything. The author makes sure to give a quick recap of prior events so this could be read as a standalone. However, after you start reading you will want to go back and read book one!
At its core, the series presents a very cool premise—a cartel busting band of former SEALs and DEA agents forming an unconventional family while also finding love amidst all the chaos. It's a thrilling book and romance and I could not recommend it more!
Heartwarming, uplifting, bittersweet and heartbreaking ... all the words that conjure up the feeling of family, friendship, a warmth in your heart and a comfort knowing you are where you are meant to be. This story grabbed me right away and was intense at times. I was completely engrossed in this one.
Age Gap ✅ Single Dad ✅ Nanny ✅ Adorable little girl ✅
Not that you need more than that, but there is more, so much more. K!dnappings, cartels, and a crazy ex wife all in a small town with gossiping neighbors and a grumpy old man. Twists, turns, and all the feels.
Author Elle P. Golden is back with the next book fromBryants & Walker Protectionseries. For The Days We Can’t Forgetan Age-Gap, Single Dad/Nanny Romance has us following Daniel ‘Danny’ Delgado, who was first introduced inFor The Chances We Takeand Lisa Specter through the telling of their dual perspective.
Firstly just to clarify, although this book is considered a Standalone within an interconnected series, its best to read the books in order otherwise you may get lost within the side plot going on that plays a crucial part within the overall story. Seeing as it continues through each of the books.
Author Elle did it again, delivering a truly packed to the brim plot from all that took place and was going on. It made for a storyline that just kept on giving through the deep dive in exploring the subplots that eventually came together to connect into one fulfilling narrative as a whole.
One of the main and biggest aspect of the story came from watching Danny and Lisa taking somewhat slow and measured steps towards a path that was their newly blossoming relationship, outside of their already established relationship of Lisa being the nanny to Danny’s4 year old daughter Sofia ‘Fee’ Delgado. Then again consideringFor The Days We Can’t Forgetwas their story, it was to be expected that this be would the main focus.
What wasn’t surprising was the ups, downs and back and forth that the two encountered, mostly due to the forbidden aspect that came from the 12 year age gap which played a fairly strong part, resulting in some inner battles to be fought, though mostly on Danny’s part due to his hang ups. However with that said, there were highs too that came from sweet moments shared between Danny and Lisa. It not only proved that they made a great couple, but that they were meant to be together. Ultimately making for an enjoyable read with seeing the sweet and romantic story side to them being together, having you in the feels.
The other part of the storyline that was important, which occurred amidst Danny and Lisa’s love story came from within Bryants & Walker Protection business involving Danny, Ben and Mia that continued on from book oneFor The Chances We Take, leading us further into the craziness that ensued. From action-packed thrills to some drama to the mysteries of hidden secrets being kept and alluded to, with some subtle hints dropped along the way. It was no wonder it created a suspenseful buildup, resulting in Elle having you on the edge of your seat many times throughout, wanting to know more from the anticipation having you gripped on tight.
My only critique would be how sometimes the subplot tended to overpower Danny and Lisa and their storyline IMO, with the spotlight navigating away from them one too many times for my liking.
Overall, Danny and Lisa’s storyFor The Days We Can’t Forgetwas an enjoyable read with Elle P. Golden doing a great job in the story she wrote. And with that sneak peek within the epilogue that Elle included, safe to say it has me looking forward to Mia’s story next. As well as getting answers to all the questions that were left hanging given the subplot cliffhanger.
*I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
For The Days We Can't Forget is the second book in Golden's Bryants & Walker Protection series. This book picks up where For The Chances We Take left off. While it could be appreciated as a standalone, there is enough reference to subject matter raised in the first book that I would recommend reading the books in order to maximize enjoyment.
This second book features Daniel (Danny) Delgado and Lisa Specter. Like the first book, this one is a contemporary romance/action/suspense however this one also has age gap and single father/nanny tropes.
Danny works at Bryants & Walker Protection alongside Mia Bryant and Ben Walker. As a single father, when Danny needed assistance with childcare, Mia connected him with Lisa. The two had an instant attraction and Danny even became adorably tongue tied when trying to interview her for the position. Hiring Lisa to take care of Sofia (Fee) ends up being one of the best decisions he's ever made.
Mia, Ben and Danny have been working on trying to bring down one of the biggest drug cartels in the world. Despite their ongoing efforts, and their losses, they don't seem to be getting close. Unfortunately the cartel is onto them which means not only are they at risk, but their families are as well.
While digging through possible clues, trying to best the cartel, Danny also struggles with opening his heart. His last relationship was toxic and while Lisa is nothing like Andrea, he worries not only about putting her at risk but also clipping her wings. Lisa is 12 years younger and has a lot of life to live. He doesn't want to hold her back from realizing her own dreams.
For The Days We Can't Forget is a beautiful balance of the action, adventure and suspense of the highly trained trio working to bring the cartel down, with the blossoming relationship between Danny and Lisa. There are moments of excitement, terror and grief, as well as heartfelt moments of laughter and love.
Here are a few of my favourite lines:
"I'll shoot you with a horse tranquilizer if I have to."
"Falling for you is proving to be easier than I imagined. Deserving you is the hard part."
If I wanted to create my perfect woman, she still wouldn't be as wonderful as Lisa.
I loved Ben & Izzie's story in book 1, and I definitely enjoyed Danny & Lisa's story in book 2. I am now awaiting book 3 as I need Mia to have her HEA. I delighted in the Easter eggs planted in this book that lead to the next. I have my suspicions about what might be coming, but time will tell.
For The Days We Can’t Forget” by Elle P. Golden is book 2 in the Bryants & Walker Protection series. This is a Single Dad/Nanny instant attraction but slow burn love story. Its main characters are Daniel ‘Danny’ Delgado from “For The Chances We Take” and Lisa Specter, a woman 12 years his junior who has recently moved back to town.
Danny got his heart thoroughly broken by his ex-wife, Andrea, who is still a part of his life. Seeing her and dealing with her is a major contributor to his inability to truly put her in the past, but like most divorced parents, he’s done his best to move forward. His big burly intimidating exterior really does hide a soft heart and Lisa’s sweetness and nurturing nature, and her absolute devotion to Danny’s daughter Sophia tug at his heartstrings and ultimately cause him to risk love again.
Lisa recently returned to Holy Water because her dad was ill. As he recovers, she’s looking fur local work and one of the women at Walker and Bryants calls her into the office for an interview. She meets Danny and is instantly attracted to him, but falls hard for him the more time they spend together. Lisa is caught in a gravitational pull toward him the more he lets her in. Their stolen moments of physical pleasure heighten their emotional pull but the fall into love itself is a hot, slow burn.
The overall subplot of the series is a definite presence in the book, sometimes riding shotgun with it and overshadowing the romance, but the author always brings it back into focus after a heavy action adventure or flashback scene. The dangerous nature of the business and the often traumatizing effects are present as well, and the success of the business as well as the mental health and healing of the other characters in the business is a priority. This is so much more than a love story. The life or death situations and heart stopping moments will have you gasping and the heart tugging moments will have you tearing up. A well balanced, full-to-the-brim second book in an ongoing series.
If you enjoy high-intensity action balanced with equally high intensity love and spice, and a lot of heart, I think you’ll love this book.
“For the Days We Can’t Forget” by Elle P. Golden is the second installment in the Bryants & Walker Protection series.
“Lisa Specter was more than a breath of fresh air. She was my balm, my peace, my partner for life. She colored my daughter’s face with the same ease she adorned my life.”

Lisa Specter, also known as Lissie, returns to town at the age of 24 due to her father's health issues, seeking closeness with her family. She takes on the role of a nanny for Sophia “Fee,” the daughter of Daniel “Danny” Delgado. Danny, a protective and caring figure, easily captures Lisa's heart along with his daughter's. Despite being attracted to Lisa, Danny, who is twelve years younger, grapples with the age difference and the dangers surrounding his job, including his ex-wife and a war against a drug and human trafficking cartel.
As their relationship develops, Lisa becomes more than just a nanny to Danny and Sophia. The story unfolds with both heartwarming and challenging moments that leave a lasting impact on the characters. I thoroughly enjoyed this book, and while it can be read as a standalone, I recommend delving into the first book for additional context.
“I’m tired of denying myself what’s good for me. And you are good for me.”
The narrative is a captivating mix of action, suspense, and endearing moments. Danny and Lissie's relationship, though challenged by age and circumstances, is portrayed with depth and maturity. The family dynamic between them and Sophia is heartwarming, and Lissie's support for Danny is evident throughout. The secondary characters form a tight-knit family, offering support, especially after Zack’s death. Mia, a standout character, adds sassiness and a touch of badassery to the mix. And WTH is Ben and Aaron hiding?
Regarding the romance, it's present but takes a secondary role as the plot unfolds. If you seek a romance-centric story, this might not be the ideal choice. Danny's character is a delightful mix of sweetness, patience, and love for his family. The book touches on sensitive topics like kidnapping, drugs, arms, and human trafficking, so it's advisable to be aware of potential triggers.
“I never doubted you’d find me.” “I’ll always find you, Lissie.” “And I’ll always be right here.”
In conclusion, this is a compelling read for those interested in romantic suspense with a focus on action. The anticipation for Mia’s book is high, especially with the intriguing ending of this installment. Give it a try for a captivating and engaging read.
Thank you Elle P. Golden for this advance copy, and I’m leaving this review voluntarily.
For the Days We Can't Forget is Book 2 in the Bryants & Walker Protection series and I'm hooked on this world and love these characters. This particular book is all about Danny & Lisa and their slow burning forbidden romance story that has it all..... age-gap, drama, action, found family, suspense and of course a little spice. Oh my god when Daniel “Danny” Delgado first met Lisa (aka Lissie) Specter I loved how he reverted back to some kind of awkward stuttering teenager!! So funny and cute. The attraction for these two was instantaneous and undeniable. However, for reasons including their age difference (12 years) , the fact Lissie was now the nanny for Danny's daughter and the idea that Danny's job was dangerous and he didn't want Lissie involved these two tried to fight the attraction they both felt. But... Like any good romance it was evident they didn't stand a chance. And... Together these two were HOT! Their journey was definitely an emotional rollercoaster ride. It had so many sweet and special heartwarming moments but it also had a number of angsty / on the edge of your seat moments. Plus... I adored little Sophia and the sweet relationship she has with her dad and the one she built with Lissie. Although this story was predominantly about Danny and Lissie the plot continues where the team are working to bring down a major drug and human trafficking cartel. With a few little subtle hints of what's to come I can't wait for more as I need answers and a certain outcome to happen sooner rather than later because Elle P. Golden you are killing me!!! hehe..
5 Stars! I highly recommend this romantic suspense story and series!

This is the second book in the Bryants and Walker Protection series! I was able to read an arc of the first book and loved it so much that I joined Elle’s street team and have been anxiously awaiting this one! I highly recommend reading the first book before reading this one.
Danny, a single father, has been through a lot in his life. His sweet daughter, Sophia and his mother are his only family after the passing of his father. Danny ended up in divorce after finding out that his wife was cheating on him with a member of a drug cartel that the agency he works for was trying to track down. His work as a private investigator at the Bryants and Walker Protection agency comes with its own challenges, but his co-workers are like family to him. But then comes Lisa, his daughter’s nanny. There is instant attraction and chemistry there and they end up falling for each other very quickly. Danny doesn’t think he deserves Lisa because he comes with baggage, but Lisa proves to him time and time again that she can be trusted with his heart and is ready to take any challenge with him. Unfortunately, this trust and love is put to the test with some suspense. At first, this one was a little bit harder for me to follow with all of the characters and all of the work-related situations happening but it ended up getting a bit easier the more I read. I do wish there was more of a build up on the romance side of Danny and Lisa. Overall though, this was a sweet & spicy romantic suspense and I enjoyed it!
Can't believe how time flies by in this book yet it is still fresh about Zach. One thing for sure Elle P. Golden doesn't give us time to forget because Zach's memory is everywhere in this book. We have Daniel and Mia still learning to cope with the their best friend and brother gone. Then we have Ben as well learning to be a father and a good man for Izzie just mind blowing how everything has gone on yet still sadness and heartache. To be honest I'm still shocked with Zach but seeing Mia filled with guilt losing her brother just teared me apart. We see Danny trying to move on yet the danger that took Zach is now after his family. Seeing him manuever to be a great dad for Sofie and still working hard to find the one responsible for Zach's death is making him see a woman like Lisa doesn't belong with him. Now Lisa is one tough cookie and easy to love. Here is a woman who is way younger for him but determined to show him he too deserves love in his life. Then we have little Sofie just seeing these three together was the highlight of the story for me. One thing for sure we see people trying to move on but in many ways feel something they never expected to have, guilt. Elle P. Golden and her Bryants & Walker Protection filled with so much action, lies, betrayal and a love you never expected totally mind blowing. Loved it.
"I received an eBook copy from the publisher for the purpose of an honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own."
This was the first book I read by this author and in this series. I felt like I needed to pay more attention than I usually do when reading so I could keep all the characters straight since I kind of jumped in on book two. I have a habit of listening to my kindle read (speeds vary depending on book) when I'm doing chores if I haven't gotten enough time sit still. I wouldn't say needing to pay attention was a bad thing or that you couldn't read this book first and go back to book 1 but I may have processed it quicker if I'd been more familiar with the characters if that makes sense to anybody but me. I really enjoyed getting to know the team and characters involved. Danny and Lisa were drawn to one another but Danny didn’t want to burden her with all his baggage. He’s older and essentially a single-father who has a past that is going to continue to shape his future. Lisa is back in town to help her family and is exactly what Danny needs to balance out his life. Danny and Lisa dance around each other until the chemistry can’t be denied but that’s just where the story gets interesting! I’m looking forward to what comes next and recommend this series. I think you can start with whichever book sounds more interesting to you as far as reading order but I haven’t had a chance to go back and read book 1 yet so I’ll update once I do if that changes.
“I’m tired of denying myself what’s good for me. And you are good for me.”
“Falling for you is proving to be easier than I imagined. Deserving you is the hard part.”
"Even the worst of days become bearable because of you.”

Danny and his group have a lead on taking down the cartel. Can he keep his family safe, his feelings away and finish this job? Lisa is calling for her boss but can she handle all his baggage?
𝐓𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬:
Danny was so flustered around Lisa. It was great. He was so sweet. I adore him. Then we have sweet little Lisa. She was so good with the kids and adults. I still love the friendship that Danny's group has. They all care so much for each other. The slow burn of this relationship so so sweet. Danny took his time with his girl and made sure she was safe, and loved. I want a Danny for myself. The plot was thick, the drama was wild and the spice was spicy. The suspense of waiting on what could happen next really had me reeled in. I loved the multiple pov's. It made the story more intense getting to feel what everyone was going through. The action was there and I didn't expect the ending at all. I absolutely devoured this book and the series. Love this author.
𝐓𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐬:

For the Days We Can't Forget by Elle P. Golden, book two in the Protection series, is a wonderful story filled with an age-gap, action, suspense, drama, family, and sizzle. While you do not need to read the first book, For the Chances We Take, I highly recommend reading it for additional context. This is Danny and Lisa’s instant attraction, slow burn, roller coaster love story.
Lisa (Lissie) Specter, 24, returns to town because of her father's health issues, and looking for closeness with her family. Needing to financially help her dad, she takes a job as a nanny to Sophia “Fee,” the daughter of Daniel “Danny” Delgado. Danny, a protective and caring figure, easily captures Lisa's heart along with his daughter's. Despite being attracted to Lisa, Danny, who is twelve years older, struggles with the age difference and the dangers that surround his job; including his ex-wife and a war against a drug and human trafficking cartel. As their relationship develops, Lisa becomes more than just a nanny to Danny and Sophia. There are both heartwarming and challenging moments that leave a lasting impact on the characters. This book is for people who enjoy suspenseful romance: a high-intensity story balanced with love and spice, and a lot of heart.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book prior to purchase.
HOLY WOW I'M IN LOVE WITH THIS SERIES! My favorite genre is romantic suspense, and add in some sexy folks in protection & my day is made so For the Days We Can't Forget was perfect in my eyes! Daniel Delgado works at Bryants & Walker Protection, and his team has suffered a great loss which has thrown all of them for a loop, especially his boos. They don't have the time to just sit & feel since those responsible for their great loss is still after them so life is very dangerous. Lisa works for Danny taking care of his daughter, and while she's a great deal younger than him, they're very much drawn to each other but neither has done anything about it at this point. He's also got the extra added worry that being with him would put a big target on her back. They're finally taking that chance, and he was right, it has put a target on her back, however, everyone has that bullseye going on so he & his team are in a race against time to get the bad guys so they don't lose anything else. Of course that means the twists are coming in hot with a big kicker of action to keep me on my toes with heart racing, but there's also the sweet with heat portion of the program, and even a ton of humor with all the witty banter. I'm absolutely dying inside for the next book because it's greaing up to be INSANELY exciting after the tease we get! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
Wow! This was one fantastic read it was loaded with danger and suspense, with wonderful characters infused with emotional heartache pain, and regrets. betrayals, guilt, shame, love and so much more. This was an absolute page-turner for us we could not put it down and were engrossed from the very first pages.
The characters were so easy to fall in love with they were all so loveable especially Sofia a little girl who stole our hearts. Mia was our favorite what a bad*** character. Fierce and loyal, brave, had a sense of humor, smart, and a fierce warrior who was all about taking down the bad guys and saving the lives of the innocents.
Danny and Lisa's romance brought a smile to our faces. Their chemistry was sexy and precious and they made a beautiful couple as well as a family. Lisa was a loving kind nurturing beautiful woman and just the kind of woman Danny and Sofia needed in their lives.
The plot was scary and twisty so much so our hearts were pounding with anticipation for the next plot twist. Loved it from cover to cover. Still reeling even after its conclusion. Missed book one so we need to go back to the beginning. This was a brand new author for us and we loved our first read by them and can't wait for the next book in this series it can't get here soon enough.
Seems the team has an ally helping them in their time of need and if we had to make a guess we already have our suspicions about who that person is and if we are right we are going to be informed with one heck of a shocking revelation...
This is book 2 in the series and though I wasn't completely lost without reading the first book, there were times I wish I knew what happened and some of that back story. I did still enjoy this fast paced, high action mix of suspense and family.
Still reeling a little from a loss of a partner the company and crew are finding a bit of trouble finding their footing as they continue to try and uncover the cartel and it's wrong doings. The team works hard to keep their close knit connection and not overthink that a big peice of their puzzle is missing. It's clear they are getting close when things start happening right before their eyes.
Danny not only lost his partner and friend but he has dealt with the loss of his marriage and becoming a single father. Thanks so much to his work family for pulling him in and helping him when needed but bringing in a nanny was a must. What Danny wasn't ready for is the relationship that Lizzie and his Sofia fall into so quickly. It opens his eye to the woman who had enveloped his daughter so whole heartedly. The draw is true and strong but she is so much younger than him, so he struggles. After being reminded that life is too damn short and to go for what you want, he jumps in with both feet.
Be prepare for many ups and downs, the author will keep you on your toes as the story unfolds. I wish we had gotten a little more of the relationship building between our main characters but I still enjoyed the story just the same. I will find time to read book one so I have the full story before I dive into Mia's book.

For the Days We Can't Forget is the second book in the Bryants & Walker Protection series. While you do not need to read the first book (For the Chances We Take), I HIGHLY recommend reading it. There are crossover characters (mains in both stories) and the main plot is what holds the two books interconnecting, and you just want to read it, trust me.
Tropes: *Single Dad/Nanny *Age gap *Found family *Small town
This book focuses on Danny and Lisa. Their love story takes you on a wild ride, however; not as wild as Book 1 (Ben and Izzie). This has been one of my favorite age-gap stories, because there is actually an age gap between the two (12 years). While there was a bit of a subplot that I thought was a little frivolous, it did build to Danny and Lisa's story. This book held action, drama, family, love, and everything to make a wonderful book.
Before I read Elle's books, I wasn't sure I liked romantic suspense, but I LOVE hers! Thank you for opening a whole new genre to me. I absolutely cannot wait for Book 3...IT NEEDS TO COME SOONER!
Thank you, Elle, for the eBook, this has been my honest opinion.
Danny is a single father and works for a Security Protection Firm, Bryant and Walker. Being a single dad, he needs help with his daughter, Sofia. So when a friend connect him with Lisa he is instantly attracted to her. But he is in the middle of a dangerous case, meaning his and the people he works with lives are in danger, and Lisa is 12years younger than him. Meaning she has a life ahead of her, he is a single dad with a dangerous job, plus some baggage from his previous relationship…
Lisa is back in town due to her dad being sick. But in the meantime she needs to a job. So when she gets asked to come in for an interview at Walker and Bryant, she meets Danny and damn does she have the hots for the single dad. The more time they spend together, the more she cant help falling for him and his little girl…
Loved it. Because I love a good romance story with suspense thrown into the mix. And this one had that in spades. I definitely have to go back and read the first book, I felt like I was missing something. But the story was good, the characters were great and definitely will keep on going with this series 😊
When I tell you the way this book had me sweating, rocking back and forth on my couch and my anxiety went through the roof! I have never had this big of a reaction to a suspense romance before but I am not mad…anymore lol.
I have loved Danny and his daughter Sophia from book 1. So when I saw they were getting their book I was over the moon. I knew their story was going to be good, I mean with the ex-wife/mother demon, but man I was not expecting what I read. I mean you get hit with the prologue that had me in a fit with what was to come. Even with that I still couldn’t believe everything that happened.
Lisa, this sweet, sweet woman. My gosh, I loved her so much. Not only with the way she was with Sophia but how she handled Danny and his job was amazing. I knew right then and there that she was a force to be reckoning with. And she proved that in tenfolds.
If you love suspense romance, then not only read this book but this series. You will not be disappointed. Bring on Ethan and Mia next please!! . . . 5️⃣🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 🌶️🌶️ 🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻 10/10 recommendation‼️
This is book 2 in the Bryant and Walker Protection series. It focuses on Danny and Lisa.
This was a great book. There was action, suspense, drama, and of course spice.
Danny is a big ole teddy bear who is like a bull in a china shop as Mia would say. He is sweet and fiercely protective of his people. His developing feelings for Lisa and his age deterred him.
Lisa is young and needed something to do to help out financially for her Dad. Nannying for Danny was the perfect solution. Their 12 year age gap did not stop her from knowing what she wanted.
My one critique is that I believe we got a lot more subplot as the main plot and not enough of Danny and Lisa connection and their relationship growing.
Overall this is a break book 2. There are definitely more stories to come and questions to be answered. I believe Mia’s story (which is book 3) will be an emotional, heartbreaking, roller coaster of a ride.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
5 Star Review For The Days We Can’t Forget (Bryants & Walker Protection #2) by Elle P Golden
Having only read one book from this author and loving it, I was excited when the opportunity to read For The Days We Can’t Forget came up. If you haven’t read the first book, For The Chances We Take then STOP as for better enjoyment I believe that these books should be read in order.
I love romantic suspense stories, and this was a good example of the genre. Daniel (Danny) and Lisa’s story was one that drew me in and kept me invested from the first chapter to the last.
There were equal amounts of suspense, romance, and love. Parts of this story were emotional, as Danny and Lisa move from friends to lovers despite all that life continues to throw at them.
When Danny’s fight for justice comes to his home, and danger rears its head, not only will his mother and daughter be put in danger but also Lisa.
Will he be able to keep the woman he has come to love and his daughter and mother safe? One click and find out.
I won’t lie. Mia is the star to me. She’s dangerous. Reckless. Guilt ridden. Mourning. And utterly devoted to taking down the people who have shattered so many hearts and lives. Don’t get me wrong. Lisa is a baddy in her own right. She goes toe to toe with Andrea and isn’t afraid to fight back for those she loves, but Mia? Yeah, I’m pretty sure she’s headed for some serious trouble. And I’m also pretty sure the person who’s getting in her way has no idea what he’s in for, which is just beautiful.
Danny has a lot going for him also. He doesn’t play games, he loves hard, he’s a protector, and he’s trying to do right by his daughter and his friend and the woman he loves all at once. It helps that he’s got a good support system. It helps more that the woman he loves is strong enough to keep herself alive long enough for the cleanup crew to arrive.
But someone is slimy and always gets away. I’m pretty sure that someone is running out of options, but I could be wrong.
For The Days We Can't Forget is the second book in the Bryant & Walker Protection series by Elle Golden. I need to go back and read For The Chances We Take to learn more of the back story. If you like contemporary romance, with action, suspense, with age gap, a single father, a crazy ex-wife, and nanny tropes you will love this story.
Daniel Delgado is a single father to Sophie “Fee” who he had with ex-wife Andrea. Andrea doesn’t want to be a mom unless it’s convenient for her. Danny is needing a nanny to take care of Fee when his friend Mia introduces him to Lisa “Lissie” Spector. His attraction to her is immediate and Fee loves her. Danny and Lissie are falling for each other but Danny is so afraid to open up to her not only because she’s so young but because he’s afraid of opening his heart and getting hurt again. He’s afraid she hasn’t lived much life and may resent him in the future because of it.
Danny a former Navy Seal works at Bryant and Walker Protection Agency alongside Mia Bryant and Ben Walker, they have been working together to bring down one of the biggest drug cartels in the world. Andrea happens to be dating the hear of the cartel which puts Daniel, Lissie, Fee, and everyone they are close to in danger.
I loved that even though Danny is this tough former navy seal when it comes to Fee he is a big teddy bear and such a great father. I also loved that when he met Lissie for the first time he couldn’t find his words bc he was so nervous. Lissie was such a great ass kickin role model for Fee and so patient with Danny. This romance was good in this book but the action and suspense was just as good and it was such a great page turner. I really enjoyed it. I was given this book as an ARC In exchange for my honest thoughts and opinions.
A private security firm, a sweet little girl and a romance with a touch of the forbidden were the reasons I picked up For the Days We Can't Forget. And while this is toted as a standalone in an interconnected series, I do feel reading the first book would've been quite helpful.
I liked Danny. He was so competent at his job but his bashfulness when it came to Lisa was really endearing. So was the way he was with his daughter. She was the center of his universe and he would do anything to protect her. Even if it meant going head to head with a cartel.
I'm the first to admit I love danger and drama in my romance, but I feel like there was almost too much happening here. But amidst all the chaos, there was the budding love between Lisa and Danny that was tender and sexy and the perfect balance to all the intensity. And while things are settled for now, there are a few loose threads that I can't wait to see how Elle P. Golden closes as the series continues.
This is the second book in the series and just as good as the first. Another book that kept me on the edge of my seat. In the last book this group had a devastating loss that has changed everyone. You can feel the dark cloud that hovers over everyone. A bright spot for this group is the kids. Danny will do anything for his little girl. Man I feel for Fee because as we go to know in the first book her birth mother is a nasty piece of work. She needs a visit from karma ASAP. For Danny there are many days he can't forget, but they are not all bad especially when Lisa comes into his life to be nanny for Fee. Lisa and Fee just melted my heart. Danny in dad mode is a total swoon fest. There is plenty of heart and feels along with serious and suspenseful moments. This group is trying to find justice for one of their own and maybe find peace they are all seeking. It's a dangerous mission and it comes to ahead. Will they all survive? Get ready to dive into this page turner.
Wow, "For the Days We Can't Forget" by Elle P. Golden is a rollercoaster of emotions! From the moment I picked up this book, I was hooked. The romance between Danny and Lisa is both heartwarming and thrilling, and I found myself rooting for them every step of the way.
I loved how the author seamlessly weaved together elements of action, suspense, and romance. The plot kept me on the edge of my seat, and I was completely invested in the characters and their journey.
Speaking of characters, Danny and Lisa felt so real to me. Their chemistry was palpable, and I couldn't help but be drawn into their story. And the supporting characters added even more depth to the narrative, making the book feel rich and immersive.
Overall, "For the Days We Can't Forget" is a must-read for anyone who loves a good romance with a side of adventure. I couldn't put it down, and I can't wait to see what Elle P. Golden has in store next!
Age Gap.. Single Dad/Nanny Romance Book 2 in the Bryant's & Walker Protection series follows Danny!
Slowburn forbidden romance. There's instant attraction, but so many things keeping them from being together. The 12 year age gap, his dangerous job, and she's his daughters nanny. But the fire that burns between these two is one that can't be put out!
Another Wild ride from Elle! Full of suspense that'll keep you at the edge of your seat. Picking up from where we left off in book 1, For the Days We Can't Forget is full of the same adrenaline, banter and spice, a crazy ex, the sweetest little girl, twists and turns and so much more. I enjoyed watching the relationship between Danny and Lisa grow. And the bond that Lisa shares with Danny's Daughter Sofia will put your heart in a vice grip.
Can't not wait for more from this series! My need to know is busted!
Tropes ~ Single dad x nanny ~ Age gap (12 years) ~ Romantic suspense ~ Small town setting ~ Found family ~ Grief rep
This book definitely had a lottttt going on! Since the suspense plot is the focus, the romance portion is secondary. Usually that would slightly bother me, but I also liked that once they were together, their relationship was relatively easy and there wasn’t much angst between them (ignoring the outside factors, of course). Single dad x nanny is definitely one of my top tropes and this one lived up to the hype!
I loveeeed the sneak peak to book three; I just know it’s going to be my favorite!
*While this is technically the second book in an interconnection standalone series, I HIGHLY recommend reading book one first! I also read book one as an ARC and had to remind myself of some of the things that happened. Elle–thanks again for this second advanced copy; excited to see book three!
First of all, a big thank you to Elle P. Golden for supporting me and responding to all my messages before, during and after my reading. For almost a year, she has taken the trouble to respond to my messages, but unfortunately, she never wants to tell me more...
To be honest, I liked this volume less than the first, even if it's still great. Unfortunately, I didn't care for Danny and Lisa as much as Izzy and Ben. Despite everything, their story remains very beautiful and I really liked the evolution of their relationship.
On the other hand, I loved Sofia, Danny's little daughter. This little girl is so adorable and deserves so much better as a mother, I'm glad she has Lisa in her life.
On the other hand, I remain convinced that Ben is hiding something regarding Zach's death. Aaron and Ben are hiding something and I plan to keep reading to find out more.
Book two in The Bryants and Walker Protection, and this one just blew away my expectations of where this series could keep going. It has everything I love in a book, it's romantic suspense with a former Navy Seal single dad. I just ate it all up and can't wait for book two.
