I rather liked this book. It was written as a series of letter from a squire to his sister. He is in a castle in England that gets attack during a tournament and he gets a letter to his sister who brings the king and his army to break the siege and send the French fleeing. The letters have explanation in them so you know what's happening and the end of each letter had a sidebar explaining some particular aspect of Medieval life.
