Expedition Diaries - In The Throne Room of the Mountain God

Expedition Diaries is the journals and memoirs of a mountaineer. A mountaineer who had a dream, and then made that dream a reality. Through avalanche, storm, death, trials and tears he fought on to live his dream.

After twenty years in the mountains, from the Welsh peaks of Snowdonia to the greater ranges of the Himalaya, Karakorum and the wilderness of Antarctica, this is a collection of his expedition diaries - as they were written.

They include a first ascent of Workman Peak in Pakistan, The first Welsh ascent of Mount Vinson in Antarctica, the guiding of premiership football team manager Tony Pulis and the legend that is ex-England goalkeeper David Seaman during their attempt on Kilimanjaro in the worst conditions on the mountain for five years.

The aim of this book is to inspire you to go for your dreams and to make them happen. Only you stand in your way of making them a reality.

Expedition Diaries - In The Throne Room of the Mountain God by M. S. Lewis is the closest I will ever get to mountain climbing. The book takes the reader on a tour of some of the best known peaks and describes in detail not only the process of the climb, but the experience of the climb.

It is a wonder that anyone actually does this, there are so many unexpected problems that could come up, and the danger level is astronomical. The author shows the strong sense of tenacity that would be needed to drive a person to complete a climb of this caliber. He does not give up.

The book fittingly ends with Mt. Kilimanjaro, perhaps one of the most famous of all mountains. I learned a lot about the technicality and precision required for climbing. The author also introduces the reader to local people and scenery as well as fellow climbers and supporters.

Not many people have been (or ever will be) to where this author has gone and it makes for a fascinating read.

In The Throne Room of the Mountain God

This is a true story of a mountaineer who made his dreams, of climbing new heights, a reality. He has an amazing sense of drive and desire to finish his climbs, regardless of what obstacles come his way. I think that is the life lesson being portrayed here, and it's something we can all work on. Everyone has dreams, but not many seek to make them come true. Perseverance is really embellished here, another great quality that we, as the reader, need to work on.

It's a great book of personal achievements, that will hopefully give the reader a sense of motivation to make their own dreams come true. It's well written, with no spelling or grammar issues that I noticed, and it held my attention all the way through. The cover is great, showing the heights of each mountain climbed. It really is an amazing achievement when you look at the cover and see each how far he went. I give this book 5/5.
