This is a child-friendly guide to the human body. It reviews each of the organs in the body's systems and how they work together. There are simply illustrated diagrams to give children an idea of where everything is in the human body. It is not an intimidating book and keeps things simple while still maintaining accuracy. There are accurate depictions of the organ systems while not getting too complex for younger children.
I would give this book 5 stars because I think it is an age appropriate way to introduce human anatomy to children. Students at this age can't handle the style in which textbooks are written, so a picture book like this is a helpful resource. I would certainly use this in a science lesson, but it would also be great to have in the classroom for independent readers to explore. It might also be good to reference if a child has a question or concern about their body.
Summarize the book: Just like the title says this book is a picture book about the Human Body. This book includes very vibrant pictures and explains the workings of the human body. It includes different ways to picture the human body as well as experiments that could be done.
Identify the characteristics from the text that support the specific genre: This book supports this genre because it is a wealth of information on the Human body and is put in simple terms so that elementary students can gain an understanding of how the human body works in a proper and not too gory way.
Identify specific concepts that could be integrated into the classroom: In the classroom it would be great to use this book for teaching the students about the Human body and how it works.
Provide any other suggestions that would be useful regarding literary content, reading level, and other ways in which the book might be integrated: Other suggestions include advising children who ask a lot of questions to read this book during silent reading. I think that students might come away with more questions but at least the very basic ones are answered in a simple way.
This book is a little too wordy for even my four year old but I'm looking forward to trying it out with her again in a couple more years. I think perhaps when she is six she may be more ready for it. Even now, however, the hands on experiments appeal to the kids.
This book makes anatomy come to life! It is engaging, colorful and meaningful. Students will love to explore how their body works after reading this book.
From Head to Toe: The Amazing human Body and How It Works is just as it sounds. It has 32 pages of information about your body. I have multiple diagrams describing what each body part does ad how it works. It very much goes into depth on how our body's function. There is also vibrant illustrations throughout the book, there is also enhanced illustrations and instructions for hands on diagrams.
I really like this body because it shows the children how the body really works. It has two spread pages, most of them do not bleed. The pages contain different information. The vibrant illustrations really make the children be more intrigued. I would definitely use this book in my classroom as a guide to help my students better understand the concept. There are some hard word choice but it shows the children a more precise vocabulary.
