This text provides a balanced, comprehensive understanding of the health issues affecting women. Health information is presented within the context of the social and political forces affecting women of all ages, races, and ethnicities. Text highlights include detailed information on prevention and consumer choice, as well as coverage of the impact of lifestyle issues and relationships on women’s health throughout the lifespan.
For a textbook, this book is full to the brim with unnecessary fluff and fails to back up most of what it claims with empirical data. I refuse to believe this was the best book available for a women's health course. For one thing, instead of supplying the reader with the results of studies, it emphasizes stereotypes of both women and men with no evidence explaining its claims. Terrible.
