★★★ ½! Layers Deep, book 1 (3). CEO & rookie police officer set out to uncover each other’s secrets while on a risky mission!

Tristan and Allie’s story starts in book 1. Books in the Layers Trilogy are most enjoyed when read in order:
Book 0.5: Dazzled By Silver
Book 1: Layers Deep
Book 2: Layers Peeled
Book 3: Layers Off
Layers Deep (book 1) opens up to rookie police officer Allie Green attending a meeting at her precinct. Cross Enterprises is looking to hire and her employer has allowing its CEO/Partner Tristan Cross to hand out applications (odd!).
Allie doesn’t apply for the job and later encounters Tristan at a bar where he tries to recruit her yet again. He knows entirely too much about her maybe even her secret. As it turns out both Allie and Tristan have secrets and an agenda. Allie is set on revenge and Tristan on righting a wrong.
Soon they find themselves peeling off the layers of each other secrets as well as clothing as they get hot and heavy in the bedroom. All while on a dangerous mission.

Layers Deep ended with a cliffy so it’s a good idea to have book 2, Layers Peeled handy. Story had a bit of the insta-thing going. I also had several logistics and time line issues, such as why/how did Tristan zero in on Allie? I’m jumping over to my ARC of book 2, for some answers and the conclusion to their story.
Scorching sex scenes with a very skilled and accommodating Tristan! Suspenseful and dangerous plot! And after that cliffy I’m rooting for Tristan and Allie to get their HEA! 3.5 stars!

Layers Deep was a sexy, action-packed story that definitely managed to keep me on my toes the entire time I was reading it. With a fair amount of drama, some pretty suspenseful action scenes and lots of passionate romance, this book turned out to be a fun, surprising read that I would highly recommend to those who are looking for a hot, billionaire story that stands out from many other novels in its genre.
Allie Green is a rookie cop with a dark and disturbing past. In order to keep her mother safe from a dangerous and disturbing enemy, she's willing to do whatever it takes. So, when the opportunity presents itself to become the newest employee in the most successful investigation firm in New York, she decides to grab the opportunity with both hands. That way, she can take advantage of the company's vast amount of recourses to once and for all, escape the man who once upon a time destroyed her family. What she hadn't expected though, was that the firm's owner, Tristan Cross would be such a tough temptation to resist...
Tristan Cross is the successful, rich and extremely handsome owner of Cross Enterprises, a top investigation firm. When an old friend of his goes missing, he needs someone to infiltrate in the dangerous environment that holds his friend captive. Allie Green seems like the perfect candidate for the job, but pretty soon Tristan finds himself attracted to her in more ways than one, and, after a troublesome experience in the past, he's unsure whether he's willing to ever let himself have those kind of feelings for anyone ever again.
Both Tristan and Allie have a troubled past and a job that constantly puts them at risk. Still, neither of them can deny the strong attraction they feel whenever they're in the same room. They're both in desperate need of someone who will help them heal and overcome their painful pasts, but are they willing enough to put their feelings on the line and open themselves up for a better future?
All in all, Layers Deep was a well written, surprising and fun story to read with a little bit of angst and lots of passion and suspense. Even though there were a few predictabilities in the storyline, the story still managed to stand out among many other billionaire romance novels because of the action-filled plot. I will definitely continue with the rest of the series, especially after the way it ended with a huge cliffhanger!

The man had a way of seepig deep into my soul and covering each wound with a permanent band-aid. As if he knew I needed his help.
Dang that was good. A swoon worthy hero, a feisty smart-mouthed heroine, some hot sex, and a suspense plot all in one. What more could a girl ask for?
This was my first book by this author, and now it certainly won't be my last.
Allie Green is a cop. She's smart-mouthed, tough, and can kick ass with the best of them. But she's also running from something, a nightmare from her past that haunts her to this day. There's only one man she knows of that can help her, Tristan Cross.
Tristan Cross. Even thinking his name makes my happy place tingle. He had me pretty much when his tattoo was revealed. What? So I'm easy!
This was an entertaining and steamy read. Was it perfect? Not quite. I wasn't a fan of the constant reference to Tristan smelling of Old Spice. That is not exactly a cologne I picture a sexy millionaire wearing. Maybe more along the lines of
Then there was also the terminology. I happen to have an allergy to the term 'manhood'. Maybe in a contemporary romance. But an erotic one? Yea...no. Then there was this

The cliffhanger was not quite the crazy one I was expecting. But I was definitely glad I had the second book that I can immediately jump into.

DAMN YOU CLIFFHANGER!!! DAMN YOU!!!!
I really need to stop reading books that have warnings about cliffies but when I see that word my mind automatically wants to read it to see at what point will story stop and how bad will it stop!
Allie , cop rookie wants only one thing - revenge. Revenge for her past and what she lost. And she knows that perfect person to help her with that is Tristan.
Tristan has other plans for Allie, he also needs her help, and he will do anything to have her by his side but neither of them expected to have feelings for each other.
I really enjoyed reading this story. It has everything I love, romance, sex (who would have thought), an actual story, secrets from past, undercover action... Everything to make it spicy but not over the top. The writing was very easy to read, and the story just flows.
I did mind that insta love a bit, but when you have an actual story to read you don't feel it that strong.
I actually can't believe I am gonna say this but I wanted more of the undercover stuff, more of the rescuing and more of *whispering* that underground club!
The blurb sums it perfectly what can you expect from this story so whatever I say will reveal what happens. And I just need first chapter of sequel! Just that! Can I have that? I seriously need to know what was said next!

A combination of Modern Romance and Thriller.
A rookie cop teams up with the head of a private security firm to go undercover and attempt rescue a young woman before she can be sold at an auction of sex slaves. This was an up and down event. When the book was good, it was really good - gripping, intriguing, sexy… But unfortunately it took a while to gain momentum.
The first parts of the book were kind of strange for me - We were given a very clear vision of Allie Green's fears, goals, and motivation - She' s going to use Tristan Cross to get revenge. Then suddenly everything shifted...
Then the plot thickened in rapid succession after that -
The reveal of
But it wasn't all awesome... there were a few things that fell short for me...
We were brow beaten with these themes:
- She was a police officer, and shouldn't be acting a certain way
- Tristan was supposed to be her boss, so she doesn't want to screw him
(Have a little faith in your reader. Trust me, we got it.)
And What on Earth was with Tristan & Scotch? She mentioned that he tasted/smelled of scotch on a ridiculous number of occasions. I started to get this feeling:
Now, let's talk about the ending for a second:
So If I understand correctly, While she was undercover
I guess we'll have to see what happens in book two of the series. Will I be reading it when it comes out? I honestly couldn't guess. I'm not sure this book had enough to keep me interested long enough for Book Two of The Layers Trilogy to hit the shelves. We'll have to wait and see...

Loved this book! But so happy I waited to read it till I had access to the sequel! I bit of a cliffy warning.
Allie Green is a decorated NYC cop. She's lived on the other side of crime as the victim and she has dedicated her life protecting those who are victims of all sorts of crime. But deep inside, she hides behind the armor of her bullet proof vest. She's got serious scars from events she witnessed as a child. These scars won't heal until justice is served.
When head honcho Tristan Cross shows up to her precinct in search of the perfect cop to do some undercover work for his investigations firm, he sets eyes on Allie Green. She's perfect for the job as an uncover hooker. He's researched her background and her stats on the force are impeccable. What he didn't bank on is his insane attraction for the auburn hair beauty.
Allie is instantly attracted to Tristan as well. She plays a bit of cat and mouse with him over the job application process. But their chemistry can't be denied.
Both Allie and Tristan need each other for professional yet personal reasons...or vendettas. When feelings get thrown in the mix, their guard is down and they can't afford that. It's a matter of life and death that they are constantly aware of their task at hand. But can these two keep their work focused and their feelings separate? Will it risk their safety and their end goals?
My feelings on this book? Me likey.
There's a few terms or visuals in the book that got on my nerves such as the term "member." And uber rich Tristan wearing Old Spice Cologne! Really? What man under 70 wears that drug store cologne? Ah, but I can't be that fussy. The book has a healthy balance of steam and suspense right until the end. Looking forward to moving on to the next installment....

3.5--Different and Entertaining--Stars!!
WARNING: This has a cliffhanger ending. But book 2 is on NetGalley and will be available January 13th for purchase.
If you're hesitant to read this one because you're afraid it will be the typical billionaire meets average troubled girl storyline, fear not because it wasn't. It did have a billionaire and it did have a fairly average girl with a broken/troubled past......
That sounds exactly the same. Really it wasn't. This one actually had a pretty unique storyline.
Allie is a cop. She lost her dad and sister as a child and witnessed her mom being physically abused. As a result, she's done everything she can to protect herself and her mom. But always looking over their shoulders and constantly living in hiding is exhausting for Allie and her mom.
Enter Tristan Cross, owner of Cross Enterprises a top investigation firm. Allie plans to use Cross and his resources to eliminate the threats against her and her mom once and for all. Little does Allie know, Tristan Cross has his own plans for Allie.
Tristan needs Allie to be a hooker.
Allie's experience as a cop will be used for her to go undercover and infiltrate a sex trafficking operation in search of a girl named Kendra.
Now this is where things got a little weird for me. I didn't really understand the relationship between Tristan and his brother Julian and Kendra. Though I later discovered there is another book called Dazzled that is part of the series that maybe explains more about Kendra's story. IDK maybe I should have read it first. But
And after the first auction.....Allie
You're a cop for goodness sakes. *shakes head* I guess it all worked out in the end but still.
I also didn't care for the big reveal at the end of the book leading up to the cliffhanger ending. But that's just a pet peeve of mine in books.
Obviously, this is book 1 of the series, so there were a lot of holes for me. A lot of questions unanswered and story-lines unresolved. So I am hoping all of that wraps up in the next book. As I mentioned, this one does end on a cliffhanger ending so I am definitely jumping in to the next book to see how everything ends.
Overall, this was a sexy and suspenseful read that kept me entertained throughout. Other than a few cheesy lines and referring to Tristan's cock as his manhood and the "curve in his pants"....
I don't really have any complaints. It was a quick read.

What a start of trilogy! I was a little bit disappointed with Layers prequel, Dazzled by Silver, but Layers Deep was everything I expected it to be.
New job, hot boss, revenge and a lot of steamy scenes. I was so happy when I saw that first novel was about Tristan. I loved his character in Dazzled by Silver and I was hoping for more. (Thank you, Lacey!) Tristan was driven by guilt - he thinks his friend's trouble is partly his responsibility so he reaches to the Allie and asks for her help. Well, of course he likes her and of course Allie is having this sinful thought about her new boss. I promise - there are a lot of steamy scenes you will love.
I loved them, but sometimes I was annoyed. In the beginning I was a little bit confused about Allie's motivation and I just wanted to slap her and scream at her, but be patient - this girl had a rough life. Still, there were few parts where I was so mad at her - you'd think that trained cop would know better, but no...
What Lacey Silks managed to do in this book is that she offers you an actual story - unlike the prequel where it looks like everything is about sex. Layers Deep is more romantic suspense with seriously steamy scenes than erotic romance. It doesn't mean that it lacks a typical chliches - Tristan is after all a millionaire and a lot of, lets call them obstacles in their undercover action are overcome with his money.
A cliffhanger - smart move. After that last page you will want to pull your hair and scream out of complete frustration. Yes, Lacey did it. Damn cliffhanger ending! But she did promise that everyone will get their happy ending. We will see.

In the beginning I was a little bit confused about Allie's motivation and I just wanted to slap her and scream at her, but be patient - this girl had a rough life. Still, there were few parts where I was so mad at her - you'd think that trained cop would know better, but no...
What Lacey Silks managed to do in this book is that she offers you an actual story - unlike the prequel where it looks like everything is about sex. Layers Deep is more romantic suspense with seriously steamy scenes than erotic romance. It doesn't mean that it lacks a typical chliches - Tristan is after all a millionaire and a lot of, lets call them obstacles in their undercover action are overcome with his money.
A cliffhanger - smart move. After that last page you will want to pull your hair and scream out of complete frustration. Yes, Lacey did it. Damn cliffhanger ending! But she did promise that everyone will get their happy ending. We will see.

Gitte: I have to say Jenny I really enjoyed Layers Deep. I was completely hooked and couldn’t put it down. It was well written with an intriguing story-line that had suspense, passion, mystery and great characters. I didn’t think it re-invented the wheel but it was addictive and fast paced, oh and we have a new book boyfriend now don’t we?!

We do have to mention that it has a very abrupt ending, a slightly strange place to end a book, I think it felt a tad unfinished. So yeah, I guess you could say it ends on an odd cliff-hanger. You agree don’t you Jenny?

Layers Deep took me on a reading journey that was at times intense, suspenseful and very, very steamy. There were a couple of times I did feel the scenes were rushed though. For instance, after following policewoman Allie when she accepts an undercover assignment offered to her by Tristan, and following the build up to this scene, I felt the undercover events could have benefitted from being a little more detailed and drawn out but this minor issue didn’t impede on my enjoyment of this book because I thoroughly did enjoy this thrilling ride and yes!! We most definitely do have a new book boyfriend.

Tristan Cross….holy moly…he was yummm…and….there are two of them! He has a hot brother too…doubly delicious!
Gitte: Our heroine Allie has had a real shitty life. Her past is full of pain and heart-ache which still plays out in the present. We find out something so disturbing you can’t blame this girl for wanting revenge and retribution.
“I’m more worried about you Allie. You need to start living a happy life instead of being burdened by your Mother’s past.”
“Your past is my past. Your pain is my pain.” – Allie
I found Allie a really interesting character and I completely sympathised with her. At no point did I find her annoying or whiny, especially considering what she had to contend with. She was quite the kick-arse heroine!
We learn pretty much everything we need to know about Allie and her story really begins with Tristan.
‘I’d never allowed anyone to leave me so breathless and lightheaded and thinking about stupid giddy feelings instead of a ruthless life.’ – Allie
The intensity and connection between them was really well written and despite the fact that their relationship developed pretty quickly, I didn’t think it felt rushed. The passion was scorching!
‘For the first time since that horrible day, I had someone I could confide in whom I trusted not only with my life but also with my mother’s’ – Allie
Jenny: G, it was Allies past that drew me into this story from the beginning and her consuming and overwhelming need for revenge. It had driven her and become the sole focus of her life, withholding her from living, burdening her and preventing her from enjoying life until she could exact that revenge on the person who ruined her life. I must say I wanted to execute this justice on her behalf too. What happened to her, what she witnessed was cruel, evil and heart breaking and reading some of those scenes was shocking and I can understand how it set her life on a path of protection and revenge, though she would have never guessed how this would somehow lead her to Tristan Cross.
“Allie, whatever ghosts from the past are haunting your present, you need to either forget them or bury them in your past.”
The passion and potency of their meeting was tangible and felt on every page. Whilst this could have been classed as insta love in some eyes, I must say, like you, I never felt that as the author had me believing every minute of feeling between Allie and Tristan.
‘I hadn’t been with him yet, but something told me I wouldn’t want anyone else after this.’ – Allie
Allie’s character was likeable and I understood her. She was hard arsed in ways and her inner musings were witty and fun. She spoke her mind and as you said she never grated on you. She had a focus which was sideswiped by Tristan yet she still maintained her steadfastness and never compromised her own focus and feelings.
Gitte: Tristan was lush wasn’t he Jenny. I have to say, he really was quite mysterious. We do learn some things about him but he’s still a bit of an enigma because we don’t get too much background on him. I’m hoping we get more of that in the next instalment because this is one man I’m dying to know more about. He’s so bloody passionate and bad arse but his relationship with his brother, his occupation and his intentions are not entirely clear. What you do feel though is his want and need of Allie! Their chemistry is palpable.

I did find I needed to know more about Tristan, his past and his pursuit and eventual feelings for Allie. What led him to her specifically and why was he so focused on her for the job? What is it that drove him, what is the story behind those scars and what of his relationship with Julian and Kendra? Arrgghhh so much to unravel and I know I’m going to relish every layer we peel back on this man. Just who are you Mr Cross!!! Yep, I was in love with Tristan alright.

Not to mention the ending? Ummmmm what Tristan? What the hell buddy? You better have a good explanation for that!!!
G&J: So we really enjoyed Layers Deep; book #1 in a trilogy. It does what it says on the erotica tin! It had an intense, sensual and intriguing story that had us hooked. It had some real freezer moments and we found a new book boyfriend! We would have liked more background on Tristan and more relationship development, however, it wasn’t detrimental to our enjoyment of the story and we’re looking forward to this being covered in future books.
We can’t wait for the second book in this series, to find out more, and to see what happens next …after that revelation. Without doubt we can definitely recommend Layers Deep!

5 Enticing Stars!
He took a deep breath of courage and then exhaled, saying, “I should have done this yesterday. If I don’t taste your lips, I won’t get any work done.”
I couldn’t even reply. In an instant, my words were muffled by his mouth, and everything inside me shut down. My body went limp, melting into the seat as my arms flopped at my sides. His hands cupped my face, the pads of his thumbs caressing my cheeks back and forth as his tongue spread my lips, sliding into my willing mouth. He explored inside me, tending to every nook. The longing of his soft kiss pulsed through my whole body, and I forgot who I was and where I was. I had no strength to resist him. I could no longer deny Cross and responded to him, opening my mouth wider, letting my tongue dance with his. A hint of scotch flowed to me as he lingered around my gums and moaned deep inside me. If I had ten tequilla shots, all at once, I doubted they’d knock me off my feet as hard as Cross had. The world spun, the car spun, and when he finally pulled away, I couldn’t believe what had happened and how much his kiss awakened the woman inside me.
Layers Deep is wrought with emotion, intensely sensuous, and so very well written that I could not put it down. This book is very well written. Extremely riveting characters (even the secondary ones) have you turning page by page until the last. Allie and Tristan were interesting and engaging. The love scenes were hot! I was truly ensnared. The plot was suspenseful and intricate. The ending left me with my mouth hanging open and wanting to read the next story. Brava, Ms. Silks! I’m waiting in limbo!

There are some books, and they're the rare exception, where within just a few pages you really connect. This was one of those books. I read it cover to cover in one session, and my only complaint is it wasn't long enough. At least I'd been forewarned it was a two parter with a cliff hanger, but I didn't see that ending coming. I'd expected it to end several times in the previous chapter, but this ending was more cruel.
I can't quite figure Tristan out, he's one of my favourite types of hero's, a hot security consultant, but there's something else going on, other than the excuse given in the book. Allie is a great character, feisty, determined, a black belt in three martial arts, this girl rocks, but when she tells the story of her childhood I wanted to cry, pull her into my arms and hug her. You can clearly see how much that incident affects everything through the rest of the book.
Whilst this is a full length book it's clear there are elements of the story that are being introduced for book 2, such as the relationship between Laura and James. As much as I hate stories being dragged out into trilogies I think this one could have done with more detail in places. There are instances where a critical couple of weeks pass, or perhaps I'm just too nosy and wanted to know more about the training etc. I just felt that from being hired to the undercover operation went too quickly in the book, but that could be because I found myself so engaged with the story and the characters.
At the end of the book the author bio says that Lacey Silks "writes her stories from life experiences, dreams and fantasies" - wow, I want to meet this woman and pick her brains!
Yes I enjoyed this book, and yes whilst the wait will kill me I can't wait to read book two!

This was the first book I read from Ms. Lacey Silks and I really enjoyed reading Layers Deep. This book had it all from family love, friendship, steam, romance, hot sex and suspense so it definitely was one of those books that captured my attention. What's not to love when the hero is gorgeous, hot, wealthy, and swoon-worthy and the added bonus of a heroine who is smart, beautiful, and strong.
Allie Green is one feisty determined cop who had experienced a heartbreaking childhood when she witnessed a horrific event that has haunted her and tormented her family. The brutal rape of her mother and the murder of her unborn sister and father only fueled Allie to seek revenge on David Wright, the man who has tormented her family.
Tristan Cross, a wealthy man whose family runs the a top investigative firm, seeks out Allie's help for a case involving sex trafficking. When Tristan hires Allie to work as undercover hooker, he couldn't deny the sexual chemistry that buzzed between them. Soon Allie and Tristan found themselves in a relationship that could only be described as sizzling hot.
This book definitely kept me entertained with the intense and fast paced suspenseful story-line. Not only was the main characters a joy to read but also the secondary characters. I loved to see how normal the Cross family is even though they are extremely wealthy. They didn't flaunt their wealth but instead showed how much the love the Cross family has for each other. Layers Deep does end with a cliff-hanger ending but luckily enough I was able to get an ARC of the second book so I could dive into more of Tristan and Allie's story.

Review: I was a little hesitant to read this book as I thought it was going to be similar to Sylvia Day’s Crossfire Series. Yes, there are a couple similarities but the story line is different and I really enjoyed it. This story is about two people trying to outrun ghosts from their past but realize that maybe they will need one another to stop running from those ghost. Tristan and Allie are two people that take control of situations when needed. They are not going to stand by and let things happen they are going to make them happen. The chemistry between these too is hot and Ms. Silks does a wonderful job expressing their passion. This is a quick read that leaves you hanging on the last sentence; wishing, praying and hoping that the wait isn’t long for the next installment. I warn that you will want a cool drink while you read this story because it is sizzling hot!

Wait a minute… This book did not end like this! Please, tell me it didn’t. But, yes, it did. I don’t feel that bad of the end, because it could have been worse. Still a cliffhanger that I hate.
The book is hard for me to summarize, but I will try. Our main character is Allie Green, a cop with a focus mind in her job and in one solid thing. Kill a man that destroy her life and her mother’s. After that was out of line, thanks to Tristan Cross (our male main character), we begin an interesting journey. Allie is hired to an undercover job and Tristan is her boss. They fall in love (but somehow they do not tell each other) and their lives got tangled. The mission was very dangerous and almost took Allie’s life. That’s all I’m saying. I told you that I sucked at summarizing this book. I left out so many funny, interesting and hot scenes that I’m ashamed.
As I said, the book end with a cliffhanger. This is one is not that tough, at least for me. I really don’t want to spoil you, but it’s hard not to. She got pregnant and when she was going to tell him, he said that she is fired first. I don’t know what to think about that end. I do hope so that the conversation continues in the next book, because if not then I will be pissed. They love each other! They look so good as a couple and they are going to have a baby (he doesn’t know for now, but still).
It’s obvious that I really want the next book as soon as possible, because waiting is overrated. I need to know, but I’m sure this will be fixed… or I really hope so. About other characters, I love Emma. She is just the perfect girl, who is so annoying that you wouldn’t love her any other way. Julian is the perfect man that every girl would dream of, because saying the same of Tristan would not be fair. I sort of hate Tristian after the end and how cold he was. Lacey Silks is one of the author already in my collection of books to read but I haven't got the chance to read one of her book until Layers Deep . The story intrigued me a lot with the fact that both need the help of each other. The description felt sexy, mysterious, adventurous, deep and like an action movie for girl with sexy romance.

This book was short, could read this one in one go. It was easy to read since it was well written, the story was so interesting because, really there were so many layers. But somehow half of the book I didn't want to rush to the end, wanted to prolong the reading, the adventure or the extraction of the mission.
But 3/4 of it, still didn't want to head to the end, but somehow I was wondering because I was nearly at the end but we are still nowhere from the goal, hoping that the end won't be quite a rush.
So was it a rush, not exactly, because spending times and words over basic training or the extraction would a waste. The scenes were exactly like on big screen so no need for endless words.
It was great to still have the focus on the main point and keep being interested and curious on Allie.
But there was something that confused me, did they talk or share other big heart to heart on the background so she knew what happen to the scar or did I miss a part.

So an HEA in the next. But what about " Layers off " if an HEA will happen in book 2? And " Dazzled by Silver ".... can't wait for any of them.
Lacey Silks is one of the author already in my collection of books to read but I haven't got the chance to read one of her book until Layers Deep . The story intrigued me a lot with the fact that both need the help of each other. The description felt sexy, mysterious, adventurous, deep and like an action movie for girl with sexy romance.

This book was HOT! I mean, just look at the cover! I had no idea that I would enjoy this book as much as I did. Sadly, I judged it and figured it would be like the other erotica novels I've come across where the sex comes first and everything else isn't as important. I'm glad I was wrong. This book has it all. If you want the erotic element. You got it. You want the romance element. You got it. Even if you want a little action and suspense, you got it. I wouldn't just label this book as pure erotica because that would take away from everything else that made this book.
I thought the characters were a joy to read about. I loved the relationship between Allie and Tristan. I love how they have the ability to bring out the best in each other. I think Allie being with Tristan has made her a more confident woman. She isn't self conscious in her femininity anymore. I knew from the first conversation that I would be rooting for them. Tristan was perfect, all the way up until the ending. I'm still completely shocked over what I just read. And let's not forget Tristan's family. I respected the fact that Tristan's brother, Julian, was looking out for Allie. I don't want to spoil to much, but I feel as if the conversation that they had in his car was much needed. And let's not forget Tristan's little sister, Emma. I adored her. I thought it was cute how she immediately took a liking to Allie. In fact, the whole family did. Everything was just perfect.
All in all this was a great read, and I can't wait to see what's in store for the next book!

Layers Deep is between 3.5 to 4 stars for me. The story is intriguing. The writing is interesting and different from other books I've been reading. The author is very concise in her writing; not much is a mystery and you're not kept waiting in suspense until the end. The plot starts off slow in the beginning but really picks up through the middle. The book is on the shorter side, I was able to finish it in one short sitting. The writing flows easily enough moving from event to event seamlessly. Allie and Tristan are interesting characters, each tainted by their past. Allie meets Tristan very early on and their relationship progresses from there. Allie's seeking revenge and Tristan is on a life-saving mission and needs her help. The only mystery throughout the whole story is whether or not Allie and Tristan's relationship will withstand once the mission is completed. We are not kept in the dark about the revenge Allie's seeking for very long. Tristan's story was a bit confusing a first because while we learn what happened we don't learn why. Tristan's brother is a secondary character and his story confused me. The connection between he and Tristan's pasts is strange to me because I think there is more to the story that we don't know. There is a big cliffhanger at the end of this book that raises many questions. Overall, it was a good read and I'm definitely intrigued enough to want the second book right now.

You need to get your calendars out and CIRCLE IN RED, YELLOW, and GREEN (yeah you know it!!!) December 4th because that is the day your next favorite series will be released!!! I have been looking for the next whole package book and this is it. There is a cliffhanger at the end but the book is a whole book... the main purpose of the this book is solved.
The whole package for me is this... strong storyline that is more than just sex scenes, hot and sensual sex scenes that I don't start skipping over, and the book isn't a miniseries (one book broken down into many smaller books just to sell more books).
I really loved this book... I only have one beef (well two)... 1. there is a book that comes before this book regarding some of the storyline and 2. I have to wait too long before the next book with Allie and Tristan... oh my whatever will I do till then???

Wow, this book is Hot Hot Hot. Packed with suspense, drama, secrets and steamy scenes to rival the lead males namesake Gideon cross!
Allie is a police officer. She has kept up her training in an attempt to seek revenge for 13 years ago and has formulated the best way to do this, get on the good side of Tristan Cross. With his help she can remove the threat and finally give her mum a normal life. When he comes looking to employ a cop to do a very specific undercover job she knows she needs to be that person yet she can't even concentrate long enough around him to fill out an application.
Tristan needs Allies help to deal with some personal demons but gets much more than he bargained for in return. There is an instant spark between the two that leads to some very steamy scenes, but can it be more?
This book took me by surprise. I absolutely loved it from the start, I was drawn to Allie as a strong female lead who has not let past experiences hold her back but instead let them make her stronger. Tristan is a very hot and very mysterious male lead who will instantly win your affection. There is a massive cliff hanger ending so I will now be pacing back and forth until I can get the next instalment of this story!

I received an ARC from the author for my honest review, so here it is. OMG, WOW what a great story. Allie is a police detective with a painful past that she and her mother fear every day. Tristan owns a personal securities company that specializes in other types of protection and rescues. Allie wants to work for Tristan to help rid her of the problem from her past but she is attracted to Tristan from the moment he steps into the Police auditorium looking for a new hire. And Tristan wants Allie. He follows her, knows about her past and needs her help to rescue someone from his past. Can she work for him without falling for him? Will he keep her when he learns her secret?
**THERE IS A KILLER CLIFFHANGER** and I was screaming NO! you can't end it at this point. I need more now! This is a first for me by Lacey Silks and I loved it. I can't wait for book 2 (Layers Peeled). Great job Lacey!

This book has it all!
I was given an ARC from the author for my honest review.
This was the first book that I have read from this author and I have to say that I was greatly impressed with this book. Layers Deep has it all, romance, sex, deceit,action, a little bit of mistery and supense and just plan hottness( I don't even know if that's a word).
The story centers around our heroine Allie Green who is a cop and has been on a mission to distroy the man who ruined her and her mother's life years ago when Allie was young she wants revenge bad. The hero in this story is Tristan Cross who owns Cross Enterprises. Tristan has his own mission to obtain Allie's help in getting one of his friends that got involved in the sex trade industry out fast and that is where it all comes to play....Without giving too much away because you really have to read this book Tristan and Allie fall for each other hard really hard and that is where the hottness (there's that word again) come into play....
My only peeve about this book was the cliffhanger that I wasn't really happy with but I am looking forward to the continuation of this book like now!!!!!

I think this book had a ton of potential and I was very excited to be given the opportunity to read and review it before its publication date...You can't just love them all. Unfortunately, this one was just not for me. I felt lost from the very beginning and couldn't connect or learn who each of the characters were. I didn't understand what was happening either and it just wasn't making any sense to me. The undercover part of the story ended up being really dark and the one scene was WAY out of my comfort zone and really, really didn't fit in with the way the rest of the book was written. Actually, I wish that part didn't have as much description as it did. Throw in what happened after that and I almost had to give up. It just made no sense to me. I don't like to write bad reviews and I don't want to ever hurt feelings, this one just didn't work for me but I see a ton of 5★ reviews so most likely it was just me.

Oh Ms. Silks, what have you done? I started this book thinking it would be okay, just a quick read to pass some time, boy was I wrong! It was freaking fantastic!! I loved, loved, loved, Allie, she was strong and determined, my type of woman in a story. I hate when the female lead is whiny and weak. And don't get me started on Mr. Tristan Cross, he sounds like the perfect guy. Sexy as sin, smart, loves his family and loyal to a fault. Without giving too much away, Allie needs Tristan to get revenge on the man that abused her mother and Tristan needs Allie to get his friend out a very bad situation. The two are extremely attracted to one another and being in close quarters sets the scene for some hot sex and hotter feelings between the two. My only issue with the book was the fact that the second book isn't out yet because the ending to this one nearly killed me. READ THIS BOOK, YOU WILL THANK LACEY SILKS!

I loved this book so much. Its a great follow up book from Dazzled by Silver.
I just loved the character of Allie. She was a tough girl on the outside, but also tough character in the inside. Loved how she protects those she loves and puts herself on the line for people.
What can I say about Tristan. He is an amazing guy from what I remember from reading Dazzled by Silver and now Layers Deep. Even though Kendra has been a complete b*tch towards him, he still is looking out for her.
Loved how both Tristan and Allie are so perfect for each other. I loved the little twist in the book.
But WTF was that Cliffhanger. I could have throttled a certain character.
If you love a hot guy, hot girl, romance, mystery, crime solving and plenty of hot sex then this is the book for you. So I would definitely buy it.
I hope that is the end of Martinez and we can see the other part of the storyline be resolved too.

Would've been 5 stars, but Ms. Silks left me hanging BIG TIME!
This book was a most pleasant surprise. I was expecting the typical billionaire meets normal girl, takes over her life, gives her everything. But instead, this time around it was nothing like that. This book was a journey into a life that is more mercenary that mogul. I loved the relationship that develops between Tristan and Allie.
The story really builds over time, and you can tell that both these characters are almost afraid to fall for each other because of their ulterior motives. I would say the way they relate to each other, the flirty banter, it was so hot.
Allie Green is out for revenge, and Tristan Cross needs help to find a friend. They both need each other, and when they are forced to spend time with each other, the feelings and actions that are a result, change everything for everyone.
I really liked the book, and I’m looking forward to the next book in the series.

My only complaint with this book (well, maybe not the only, but the one that bothered me most) is that I think it's actually silly (for lack of a stronger word) that Tristan and Allie would instantly fall in love with each other, and start doing all those things couples do within a few years of their relationships.
Key-word here being years, not a few days.
Other than that, a pretty good, hot, intense story. Will read the rest in the series.

Gitte: I have to say Jenny I really enjoyed Layers Deep. I was completely hooked and couldn’t put it down. It was well written with an intriguing story-line that had suspense, passion, mystery and great characters. I didn’t think it re-invented the wheel but it was addictive and fast paced, oh and we have a new book boyfriend now don’t we?!

“I want more than to be in your pants, Allie. But if you wish, I promise to keep my hands and my dick to myself.” – Tristan
We do have to mention that it has a very abrupt ending, a slightly strange place to end a book, I think it felt a tad unfinished. So yeah, I guess you could say it ends on an odd cliff-hanger. You agree don’t you Jenny?
Jenny: I was certainly invested in this one that’s for sure G and have to agree with you on the ending. It was a wtf moment for me too and you can certainly bet I’ll be lining up for the next book in this series.
Layers Deep took me on a reading journey that was at times intense, suspenseful and very, very steamy. There were a couple of times I did feel the scenes were rushed though. For instance, after following policewoman Allie when she accepts an undercover assignment offered to her by Tristan, and following the build up to this scene, I felt the undercover events could have benefitted from being a little more detailed and drawn out but this minor issue didn’t impede on my enjoyment of this book because I thoroughly did enjoy this thrilling ride and yes!! We most definitely do have a new book boyfriend.

Tristan Cross….holy moly…he was yummm…and….there are two of them! He has a hot brother too…doubly delicious!
Gitte: Our heroine Allie has had a real shitty life. Her past is full of pain and heart-ache which still plays out in the present. We find out something so disturbing you can’t blame this girl for wanting revenge and retribution.
“I’m more worried about you Allie. You need to start living a happy life instead of being burdened by your Mother’s past.”
“Your past is my past. Your pain is my pain.” – Allie
I found Allie a really interesting character and I completely sympathised with her. At no point did I find her annoying or whiny, especially considering what she had to contend with. She was quite the kick-arse heroine!
We learn pretty much everything we need to know about Allie and her story really begins with Tristan.
‘I’d never allowed anyone to leave me so breathless and lightheaded and thinking about stupid giddy feelings instead of a ruthless life.’ – Allie
The intensity and connection between them was really well written and despite the fact that their relationship developed pretty quickly, I didn’t think it felt rushed. The passion was scorching!
‘For the first time since that horrible day, I had someone I could confide in whom I trusted not only with my life but also with my mother’s’ – Allie
Jenny: G, it was Allies past that drew me into this story from the beginning and her consuming and overwhelming need for revenge. It had driven her and become the sole focus of her life, withholding her from living, burdening her and preventing her from enjoying life until she could exact that revenge on the person who ruined her life. I must say I wanted to execute this justice on her behalf too. What happened to her, what she witnessed was cruel, evil and heart breaking and reading some of those scenes was shocking and I can understand how it set her life on a path of protection and revenge, though she would have never guessed how this would somehow lead her to Tristan Cross.
“Allie, whatever ghosts from the past are haunting your present, you need to either forget them or bury them in your past.”
The passion and potency of their meeting was tangible and felt on every page. Whilst this could have been classed as insta love in some eyes, I must say, like you, I never felt that as the author had me believing every minute of feeling between Allie and Tristan.

Allie’s character was likeable and I understood her. She was hard arsed in ways and her inner musings were witty and fun. She spoke her mind and as you said she never grated on you. She had a focus which was sideswiped by Tristan yet she still maintained her steadfastness and never compromised her own focus and feelings.
Gitte: Tristan was lush wasn’t he Jenny. I have to say, he really was quite mysterious. We do learn some things about him but he’s still a bit of an enigma because we don’t get too much background on him. I’m hoping we get more of that in the next instalment because this is one man I’m dying to know more about. He’s so bloody passionate and bad arse but his relationship with his brother, his occupation and his intentions are not entirely clear. What you do feel though is his want and need of Allie! Their chemistry is palpable.

Jenny: Tristan was indeed lush Gitte and as divine as this gorgeous, smoking hot security specialist is, just what is his story? I need to know more and I’m thinking we’ve only just scratched the surface of the mysterious Mr Tristan Cross. I did find I needed to know more about Tristan, his past and his pursuit and eventual feelings for Allie. What led him to her specifically and why was he so focused on her for the job? What is it that drove him, what is the story behind those scars and what of his relationship with Julian and Kendra? Arrgghhh so much to unravel and I know I’m going to relish every layer we peel back on this man. Just who are you Mr Cross!!! Yep, I was in love with Tristan alright.

Not to mention the ending? Ummmmm what Tristan? What the hell buddy? You better have a good explanation for that!!!
G&J: So we really enjoyed Layers Deep; book #1 in a trilogy. It does what it says on the erotica tin! It had an intense, sensual and intriguing story that had us hooked. It had some real freezer moments and we found a new book boyfriend! We would have liked more background on Tristan and more relationship development, however, it wasn’t detrimental to our enjoyment of the story and we’re looking forward to this being covered in future books.
We can’t wait for the second book in this series, to find out more, and to see what happens next …after that revelation. Without doubt we can definitely recommend Layers Deep!
