So entertaining and the boys are drop dead hilarious. The author is unfailingly gracious in his comments on America and certainly he did meet the cream of the American crop, especially when in the South where people are generous, kind and just plain big hearted. This kind of write-up with its view of life and travels as being an adventure in spite of the negatives, grants a reader a bigger smile particularly when the writing is about one's own beloved country.
Disappointing effort. Interesting idea, but the execution was poor; coming on like a collection of articles you'd read in a weekend supplement. This could have been a warm, funny & interesting read, but unfortunately fell short of all three. The appeal of the book isn't helped by the author 'whoring' himself out for talks, appearances etc at the back of the book.
