HE'D COME TO CLAIM HER HEART…

But he didn't seem to have one of his own. Yet from his midnight-black hair down to his dusty cowboy boots, Bo Ramsey still radiated sexiness. Months ago he'd left without saying goodbye, on the arm of another woman, but now he was back, as seductive as ever though broken in body and spirit. But since he'd disappointed Abby once before, she told herself that Bo's troubles were none of her concern….

Yes, that's what she told herself. Until Bo turned up on her doorstep, with a plea for forgiveness and a look of such love in his eyes that she stopped listening to the voice in her head and started hearing the one in her heart….

No rating because I couldn't finish it.

H/h broke up when the heroine wouldn't accompany the hero on the rodeo circuit. She felt she should stay on the ranch with her single-dad father. The night of their break up hero got drunk at the beer tent and hooked up with the town bad girl. Bad girl told him she was pregnant. Hero married her only to find out there was no pregnancy.

Two years pass. Hero returns to a neighboring ranch after a debilitating accident with a bull. He's got a limp, his face is scarred, he is in pain and will never "rodeo" again. Oh, and he's broke with no plan for his future.

Wow. Hero material right there.

Heroine is just as uninspiring. She has been wallowing in anger, going out with the rich, young vet (Poor veterinarians - never get the h) and watching her family ranch lose money. Her solution? Spend her time with therapy horses for special needs children and adults - a worthy cause, but come on - there won't be therapy horses if you lose the ranch.

Hero volunteers to help with the therapy horses and heroine, in the cruel hero role, makes him do chores that he is unable to do without pain due to his injuries. She feels a little bad for torturing him, but not really.

And that's where I bailed. Watching a hero with rock-bottom self-esteem writhe in agony is not my idea of a romance.

I don't count his hookup as cheating since they broke up when hero strayed - and heroine really needs to get some perspective. As Ross from Friends says - "We were on a break!" It was her pride that was dented, not her heart.

They were both terrible with money and the heroine's pity party about taking $ from her dishwasher fund to pay someone was just OTT to me. Don't get me started about the interfering father and uncle. That brain trust can't keep their ranches going - so why are they dispensing advice?

The Blurb says –The H ‘Left without saying goodbye, on another woman’s arm months ago’.

Privy to the h’s thoughts we get to know - The H had left town with the ow two years ago. - Without saying goodbye.

Sometime later, it changes to - He left town with the knocked up ow - Without saying goodbye.

Later - Same as above but now married to the ow before leaving – but still without saying goodbye.

And when he finally gets to have his say - He had sex with the ow on the same night he had broke up with the h - apparently within a couple of hours. Then the ow tells him she is pregnant and they get married. Then he finds out that she lied about the pregnancy to trap him (not that he was that great a prize! A rootless working hand on her uncle’s ranch). He files for divorce and then leaves town. (The whole 'going on the ow arm's' is not clarified, so whether she leaves with him or thereabouts is up for a guess). She refuses divorce for next two years and only divorces him only when he is ‘crippled’ in a rodeo, wiping him off financially in the bargain.
And yes he’s sorry he dint explain and say goodbye to the h!

The h actually feels relieved that he is divorced and there was no baby to begin with. She doesn’t totally forgive him (for not telling her all this earlier!), but is mollified enough to have a heavy make out session with him.
She just doesn’t seem to be bothered at all that the H betrayed her by having drunken sex (in a beer tent) with the ow almost immediately after breaking up with her. How can all the love and commitments vanish so suddenly? Many disagreements, fights and break ups between lovers are forgiven and forgotten the very next day. So what was the hurry and how can it be believed this man won't do something like this again in the future?

This is a big unforgivable trigger for me and I couldn’t get past that.

But for the people in the book only the fact that he was trapped by the ow seemed to be of any significance. Even her father who hated his guts till then, after hearing how he was duped by the ow, keeps pushing the h to give the H another chance.

So we go round and round with this theme . .
“Did you honestly believe Marla carried your child?” She stared at the pot of water left cooling on the stove, reluctant to face the cause of her out-of-control heart rate.
He pushed away from the counter, and gently took her hands in his. “What will it take to make you believe me?”
. . . . . . .
“Then you didn’t fail by doing the responsible thing. The wrong thing was leaving without saying goodbye. Without giving me the explanation I deserved. That’s where you failed, Bo.”

*facepalm*

If he still loved her why not try and get back with her after cooling off in few days. The pregnancy shocker must have taken few weeks to come up. And for a guy who was dying to go off to rodeos he sure took his time taking off.
And going by the h’s logic, when she is not even bothered that he had sex with someone else after their breakup, why should she feel entitled to an explanation from him on whom he marries or why he left town after that.
There were such big contradictions in the book, and I just couldn’t get past them. The sex with another woman was so acceptable that the h never even dwells on it for a second, and neither does the H express any regret, only that he was a big fool to trust the ow with the contraception!

I don’t seem to be having much luck lately with the books I’m reading. This one had a good premise but the execution was very poor, the hero Bo and Abby were together and in love, then Bo announces he wants to leave and try his luck at bull riding. Abby who lives and works on her family ranch with her father doesn’t want to go with him. They have a massive argument and he gets drunk and has sex with another girl in town. She gets pregnant he marries her. She’s only with him for the money. When he has a near fatal accident leaving him scarred and crippled she’s happy to divorce him. Bo returns to town hoping to pick up with Abby.

I had massive problems with this, I just couldn’t get or understand the timeline of the events which caused Bo to leave town with the other woman, was she pregnant? Had they already married? It was also stated that the other woman was a gold digger, if that’s so why was she interested in Bo he was not rich. None of this is explained. Abby’s father was not the hero’s biggest fan so when Bo returns to town why was he all in favour of Bo? As for Abby she was an idiot, and Bo was just one big cry baby, who came crawling back to town now he has nothing. Not a fan of this

Crybaby hero throws himself a pity party.

I couldn't take his whining anymore -- loser brought it all on himself.

He'd come to claim her heart...

Load of crap. He'd come because he was injured, broke and had nowhere else to go.

Bo turned up on her doorstep, with a plea for forgiveness and a look of such love in his eyes...

When did that happen?? The first time he's on her doorstep after he comes back to town is when the uncle of the slut he cheated with drives him to the heroine's place (more like kidnaps him) and even then he wouldn't even get out of the truck. He just hid in there until the heroine came over and coaxed him inside for some tea.

This guy is as alpha as a 10 year old girl.

And love in his eyes ? Really? Who wrote the blurb for this thing? He was waaay too focused on his own misery to have "love in his eyes". Self-pity was definitely in there, though.

Hero and heroine were in a relationship, they had a huge fight and the hero cheated on her with the town tramp. When the town tramp said she was pregnant with the heroes baby, he left the heroine and the town with the town tramp and married her. Years later now the hero is back, after a serious injury and a divorce. Turns out the town tramp had lied, only wanted the heroes money and now that she took it all and left him injured, he had nothing. When he told the heroine the story about how the town tramp said she was pregnant but wasn't and the reason he left, she found it hard to believe him but she was still so in love with him. But could she open her heart to let him back in again, to trust him again?

The book was pretty darn boring, there was nothing that made it stand out and the hero took the cowards way out throughout the whole novel, while the heroine stood her ground despite her heart breaking and did something miraculous with her life. The hero finally stepped up to bat at the end but I couldn't stand the hero, he was like a man with a vagina. He needed to grow a pair.

Well I dislike cheaters, and I know that they had broken up but really hours later he is doing the dirty the the town skank. The OW tells him she is pregnant, no protection H???? Talk about being irresponsible. The H knows the OW was sleeping around but he just wants to be a good old boy for her uncle who gave him work. He doesn't ask for a DNA test, just marries her, WT. I mean really he doesn't even ask to confirm the pregnancy he just marries her. Yeah he really loved the h, NOT. After he marries the OW she tells him she was never pregnant. I don't know if they lived together like a married couple, the book doesn't give any particulars. The h was shamed in front of the whole town as they all saw the H and the OW together, the OW wanted the H and he just followed after her. After he found out the OW wasn't pregnant he tried to divorce her, WT tried, the OW was apparently after his money from the Rodeo circut. Hello she can't have your money unless you give it to her. Seperation legal seperation doesn't give her rights to money he earns after the seperation (I think). But his H was never working with a full deck. I mean who marries OW knowing full well that she was sleeping around had no physical confirmation that she was even pregnant. When he finds out that she was not pregnant he then instigates divorce proceedings, it just makes no sense. So when was he thinking of the h? NEVER. The H gets injured and his rodeo days are over. The OW must have access to his money and it's all gone now and he is broke and will never be a big money earner. So the OW gives him a divorce, and the H goes back to the OW Uncle who employed him before because he has no one else. So the H goes back to the town where he betrayed the h in front of the town, broke, injured and scared. What PMO even more is that the h in the two years that passed doesn't even try to move on. The H comes back and cries and is poor me, blah, blah, blah. This is all his doing, HE MADE every wrong decision. He thinks that if he just explains the situation to the h that she will what be okay that he had sex with OW hours after they broke up, married the OW not knowing that she was really pregnant or if the baby was his and spent 2 years with the OW. But now that he is injured scarred broke the h should just take him back. Just where is the love in this book. It's like the author has the H shit all over the h and she just takes him back. Where is the respect where is the love for the h. And to top it off the h's father and the OW's uncle pimp the h out to the H. Really the h's father, that I can not believe. These stories with absolutely NO redemption by the H will never have a HEA that is believable.

If this book was longer it would have made the story believable. Cause the hero messed the hell up and needed a lot more time to win the heroine back. Wish the other woman got a punch in the boob but we never hear from her ass. But why was the hero so easily duped? But too short to believe all this worked out. Uhhh how is the heroine’s business? Seems like she need money and a barn burned down! How is she doing? Think they are all gonna be homeless soon. Eh read at your own risk of wishing it was more fleshed out.

Me choca, me choca y me choca lo que él hizo, pero son situaciones típicas de los Harlequin.
Me gustaba tanto que ella no le diera ni una oportunidad pero todos intervinieron para cambiar eso.
En fin, el libro medio cumplió con entretener.

We have teenage sweethearts ripped apart by evil OW and a H who can't keep it in his pants. I hinda feel sorry for him but also I don't as he brought it all on himself.
The H has just moved back to town sporting a limp and some facial scars after an epic fail on the pro rodeo circuit.
He and the h were teen sweeties but she didn't want to leave town and leave her gramps who she looks after and lives with and he wants to make it big in the rodeo world. After a fall out on 4th July he gets drunk and does the dirty with his boss's niece who then tells him shes up the duff.

He duly marries her and off they swan off to a rodeo life where hes miserable because she spends all his money and she lied about being preggers. However, he made his bed so... Until his accident where because he can't earn anymore and has scars the wifey divorces him and takes home for ALL his money and he moves back to town to his old boss/ ex wifes uncle with his tail between his legs and $5 to his name.

h wants nothing to do with him but shes not bothered by his looks just his stupid, dumb choices and she reluctantly lets him work for free at her horse sanctuary/children with additional needs equine therapy business and she works him like a dog. Shes also struggling for £££ and the local vet who seems very nice is wanting to date her and gives her stuff for said business.

However she is weak where the H is concerned and the vet has no chance once she hears the H's tale of woe. A fire and heroic rescue by the H later of a horse and its plot moppet rider and love is declared and H is persuaded back into the saddle.

h needed to make him suffer way more in beginning although adding extra chillies to his meal was 10/10.

Wounded Hero Review

The hero, Bo, was scarred and injured in a rodeo accident. Half of his face was scarred (why is it always half and not the whole face in EVERY SINGLE BOOK?!) and he walks with a permanent limp. I wasn't a huge fan of him because he cheated on the heroine (they'd dated before) and he did seem like a bit of a baby. BUT for those on the lookout for a book featuring a wounded hero, this one does talk about his injuries quite a bit and doesn't really gloss them over or forget about them like some other books tend to do.
