Baron Mandrol throws a grand ball and requires that his guests wear demonic death masks that harbor the spirits of murdered freedom fighters, and in the midst of the chaos, one fighter actually comes back to life. Original.

A disappointing book -- it's complicated and interesting and fun right up until the end, at which point it collapses into a pile of cliches. It took me a while to spot the twist, but once I'd spotted it, that's all there was to the story. Still, fascinating world-building!

I loved this book. My preconceptions of it were completely wrong, which is good because I love books that aren't predictable. The story line was intriguing and the characters were well defined. Anyone who likes action, adventure, and a touch of love will enjoy this book.
