A fresh, upscale approach to crochet, with 38 simple projects presented in 25 comprehensive yet easy-to-understand lessons for anyone just picking up this craft. Crochet gets a chic makeover in this beginner-friendly book from French designer and crochet teacher Marion Madel. The 38 quick and easy projects include oversized scarves, cozy cowls, lacy shawls, decorative embellishments, bags, and much more. In 25 lessons, beginners will steadily build their repetoire of crochet skills, each one presented in detailed step-by-step photos, from creating foundation chains to decreasing and increasting stitches to crocheting in the round. For each lesson, the accompanying patterns offer the chance to try out new stitch patterns and techniques while creating a collection of beautiful garments and accessories that go far beyond typical beginner's projects.
I am beginning crochet but had learned the basic stitches. Marion Madel helped me get fancy! I mostly like to make up my own patterns so I loved learning some fancier stitches to add to my single and double crochet projects. This book is fun.
Definitely a book for beginners, any more intrepid and you will likely be bored by these pieces. The projects are nice enough and the photography and styling is beautiful. This is a very thick book for only 38 projects and my copy was beginning to split at the spine due to its weight.
Good instructions for a beginner that already knows the basics - because these patterns get fancy really fast. I’m excited to try her stitches for lace - fingerless gloves and scarf.
I like how the book has projects that take you further and further into the techniques progressively. Some of the projects I like particularly some of the flowers surprisingly.
Definitely a book I want to come back to. I have too many checked out right now, but this is a good one that I just don't have the time to focus on. The book is very modern and chic looking in muted natural colors throughout. Lots of great real pictures not illustrations of both how to do the various stiches as well as the projects in process and finished. Also a lot of great projects I would like to get back to. It is meant to be for beginners, but I think I am not quite ready for it so I will do a few more simple plain scarves and come back to this when I feel more confident!
