The countdown is on. Trapped in a necron tomb with no teleport signal and no way to disarm the bomb they have planted, Brother-Captain Artemis and his Deathwatch kill-team must fight their way through numberless hordes of living metal horrors if they are to escape.
Read it because A 1,000 word Deathwatch story by Gav Thorpe.
Gav spent 14 years as a developer for Games Workshop, and started writing novels and short stories in the worlds of Warhammer and Warhammer 40,000 when the Black Library imprint was launched in 1997.
He continues to write for Black Library, and his first 'homegrown' novel series The Crown of the Blood has been released via Angry Robot.
Currently living in Nottingham, Gav shares his home with his loving and very understanding partner - Kez, and their beautiful little boy - Sammy.
A Deathwatch kill-team trapped inside a Necron tomb, fighting against time and hordes of "living-dead-terminators". Too short, it seems the final chapter of a longer tale, no twists at all, but still a nice read for a 1000 words e-short.
A sort of sequel to Gav Thorpe's Deathwatch audio drama "Mission: Purge", here we get to see Captain Artemis' Deathwatch squad take on a Necron Tomb World. The story was extremely fast paced, action tearing off every page(there were only 3!). I would have liked this to be a longer release, as I think this Deathwatch team could easily fill out a novella very nicely.
