Wow, Hercules was an utter and complete asshole. I have no idea what Rory saw in him. (And do not get me started on the name Hercules.... ewwww)

There is a fine line between being an overprotective alpha male and being an abuser. Hercules crossed that line in my opinion. I especially wanted to kill him when he wouldn’t listen to Rory when he was trying to tell him something important. And when he forbade Rory to swear. And that every time he did, Hercules would spank Rory. I don’t care that Rory ended up being turned on by it, Hercules did it without Rory’s consent.

He also called Rory a whore when Rory was dancing a certain way. In his own home! And Rory cowered and said to himself he wouldn’t dance anymore. I mean, if that’s not abusive behavior then I don’t know what is…. If Rory wanted to dance in his own home, why on earth wouldn’t he be allowed to do that???

Ugh, what an awful book.

The third book in this series about the Aberdeen wolves, with the extraordinarily talented alpha and his growing pack, tells the story of the beta's younger brother, Rory. Just like Alpha Iben has his secret powers and Beta Djal has amazing strength, Rory has the ability to see the future in visions that are, unfortunately, often as confusing as they are painful. They also get him into major trouble with Hercules, one of the elite enforcers brought in to increase pack security. Because one thing is certain: the fight to establish themselves is far from over, and at least one more villain is ready to attack them, trying to make their lives miserable.

Rory doesn't have it easy as the younger brother of a strong beta, and a domineering older sister who both may want what's best for Rory, but leave him almost no room to decide for himself. His visions are usually driving him crazy, and the only way he can deal with the stress is by dancing. Only now that the new elite enforcers have arrived, one of the three brothers makes Rory want to dance just for him. Hercules's reaction is less than encouraging though, and Rory has never felt more rejected. As the story progress and they spend more time together when Hercules is sent to protect him, the enforcer's attempts to dominate Rory and to tell him what to do infuriate Rory to the point that he runs away. That is no way for adults to relate, and I quietly applauded Rory for standing up to the brute.

Hercules made me angry at first. He is so macho it isn’t funny, and while I could see that he was very much in love with Rory, the way he ends up treating him (like a disobedient child) just made me angry. As I found out more about Hercules and the rough life he has lived, as well as his total focus on doing his duty, I began to understand his protectiveness a little better. Coming from where he used to be is difficult, and throwing himself into work is clearly his way to cope. I was also relieved to see that Rory fighting back and not taking any of Hercules's crap actually made the big brute think. And as he was working toward a real relationship with Rory, he actually began to grow on me. Turns out, all he needed was a little "guidance".

If you have enjoyed the first two books in this series (and yes, they are best read in order), if you like reading about men with very different talents who need to learn how to accept each other and compromise, and if you're looking for a read with action, tension, heated encounters between lovers, and some very hot bedroom activities, then you will probably like this novella.

I really liked the first book in this series. The second book was pretty good, too. But this one... Hercules was kind of a jerk and Rory just let it go and I'm left feeling very frustrated by it all. *sigh* Maybe I'm not getting enough fiber?... (Wait, wrong condition. *grin*) I will, of course, read the next one, because I'm addicted, and hopefully it will be better, like the first two. (Or I will have gotten over my need to be disappointed with everything I read and be happy.)

Grr. This’ll be long, spoilerish, and ranty.

Is this supposed to be a romance? From the very start all their interactions can be summed up as Hercules belittling Rory, molesting him, beating him, and generally treating him like a child or an imbecile. All this with hardly any verbal exchanges.

The book begins with a huge info-dump. Not back-story or a recap of previous volumes, but information about the protagonists, nicely summed up. Not sure that is how I want to experience these people.

Meet Hercules, the superjerk. Being turned on by Rory is apparently justification enough to shred the man’s confidence.

This thing is super repetitive, be it within the same paragraph or a chapter later. Just how many times do we have to be assured of Iben’s power? I’d much rather just witness it. Telling once is fine, too. But by the third time I get bored and the fourth suggests that the author assumes I have the memory of a goldfish.

“His cock hardened to molten steel in a millisecond.”

So… it went soft? It, uh, melted? Ew, by the way.

Mr Superjerk . What is wrong with this guy?

The next serious interaction they have consists of Hercules making rules for Rory like the latter is a little kid (including a no-swearing one). Seriously, WTF? That man never ever pauses long enough to listen to Rory.

I also wish to know how Rory’s justified anger rates as a temper tantrum, but Hercules’ irrational demands don’t.

Hercules, man. Mr Jerkface. Spanking someone without their consent – particularly when he’s saying no very clearly – is not something you can do and still be considered hero material. At best it means you’re self-absorbed to the point of delusion, at worst it means you’re an abusive asshole. Turn-on or not has nothing to do with this. It’s a matter of respect. I really wanted Rory to report him to the council. But already knew he wouldn’t. Dammit.

I guess it’s all “okay” because Hercules knows this is what Rory really wants. Does the argument of “I know you want it” ring any bells? Argh, I wanted to kick this jerk. Still kinda do.

Le sigh. It’d been a while since I found myself cheering on a bad guy to kill one of the heroes.

“Rory didn’t want anything bad to happen to Hercules. Despite everything, he still cared for the man. He just wanted nothing to do with him. Hercules had crossed a line that he couldn’t come back from.”

I was entirely on board with that. I just wished it would hold! As such I was quite a bit more bloodthirsty by then than Rory.

And yeah, Mr Jerkwad, a spanking – even if it is not firm enough to hurt physically (which doesn’t sound like any real spanking to me) – does hurt. It hurts the recipient’s dignity. It humiliates.

“Unlike in the animal world or romance novels, mates were not given to them by fate. (…)”

Uh. Sorry, but the animal world does not work that way either.

Of course the moment they’re mated it’s all sunshine and roses between them. Mostly. Somewhat. At least enough for the last third or so of the book, when the officially bad stuff happens, to be bearable. The final sex scene ruins things again a little but ah, it is finally the end.

Okay, this wasn’t a total bust because of that last third and because I did like Rory – even if his taste in men is abysmal. I just feel sad that he’s now stuck with Herc-the-jerk.

I can’t believe I missed reading this on my initial rounds way back when. Hercules and Rory are great together and I liked their story. The ending was definitely a little over-the-top, but I’m not complaining. It all worked well together.

I thought it rocked. Has turmoil, mystery, psychic visions, rescue, and sex.

As usual, most of the time the reason 'mates' (remember this is by choice not fate in this series) fight their instincts and each other are over stupid things. This starts that way, seeing as Hercules thinks he is so way below Rory.

Once Hercules realizes he isn't going to give Rory up, Rory of course is already on the defense. I really enjoyed the byplay of them coming to terms with each other at this point. And on the plus, I didn't feel overwhelmed by sex sex sex. It probably could have been a little more in there in fact.

Regardless of other reviews, My first impression is enjoyable and a 4

I haven't read the first two books in this series but I did enjoy this one very much. So much so, that I'm going to go back and read books 1 and 2.

In this story, Rory, the younger brother of the pack beta, has visions of the future, though no one but the inner circle is aware of this. Rory has his sights set on Hercules, a pack enforcer, who doesn't seem to return his affection. That's only on the surface, however. In reality, Hercules burns for Rory's body and soul and the two ultimately get together. The ups and downs along the way make for an entertaining adventure. Definitely want to see more of this Aberdeen pack.

Fairly typical Stormy Glen with a little less sex than usual. I think it would have been better had I read the previous books; some if the back story was confusing but it wasn't completely unreadable.

Aberdeen Pack 3

Rory dances because he has to. The visions he suffers from weigh down his soul, and dancing takes him away from all of that. But when he meets Hercules, he finds another reason to dance.
Hercules is an elite enforcer, trained from a very early age to be the best of the best. As large and as strong as he is, he’s very good at what he does…until the day he finds a man that comes between him and his duty.
Pulled into a conflict that started long before they even met, Hercules and Rory need to discover a way to balance their duty to their pack and their desire for each other. If they don’t, they could lose not only the people they care for but the chance to be mates.

Summary:
Many people say that they have paranormal abilities, but few discuss the day-to-day difficulties they can cause. Rory's glimpses into the future have allowed him to save lives, but the problems they cause were innumerable. Imagine loosing control when they manifest could allow unscrupulous individuals to use them for their own interests. Rory was lucky to be a part of the Aberdeen Pack, but even though the other members of the inner circle know about them they themselves don't truly understand him. At first, Rory danced because it gave him some measure of control over his mind until he met Hercules, an enforcer or the pack, and his dance took on a new meaning! Hercules has no time for emotional entanglements, but he can't take his eyes off of Rory. The Aberdeen Pack remains under siege as an unknown source threatens the very lives they have built. This story was filling with action, emotional turmoil, and enough action to keep any reader waiting to see what would happen next!

Never Say Never by Stormy Glenn is third in the Aberdeen Pack series. This story can be read as a standalone however you will enjoy the subtleties having read the prior stories in the series.
I enjoyed both Rory and Hercules in this story. In Rory we get a wolf that is different. He struggles with visions, not just the nature of the visions but hiding them from everyone other than his family and Alpha. He put himself out there to entice the wolf that snared his attention even at the cost of outing his secret. The courage to not only deal with what he sees but to go after his man is obvious and enjoyable to see.
In Hercules we get a wolf whose size is seen as his strength. He along with his brothers is quite deadly. But while he understands that his job is one that must be done, he doesn’t care for it. For such a large wolf Hercules has a tender soul. Rory is able to see that and allows Hercules to be softer without seeing it as a weakness.
Ms. Glenn gave us a well written story filled with drama and passion. She gave us two characters whose strength was not so obvious in the case of Rory but misconstrued in Hercules. Both men fought to become mates once they learned that all important component to a relationship…communication.
This was a wonderful addition to the series. Ms. Glenn allowed Hercules and Rory to have their moment while moving the story arc along and I look forward to seeing where she will take us next.

This is the third book in the Aberdeen Pack series and I think it's a vast improvement from the previous two, but still nothing new. There's still the need to mate and form a mate bond between two guys who misunderstand every little thing the other one says or does... therefore, unnecessary angst. Still the same bad guys. Still the same uncontrollable lust at first sight towards each other. Still the same hot monkey sex whenever the guys could find enough time to pull their heads out of their asses.

Some reviews would say Hercules was a jerk, but it was Rory I wanted to strangle most of the time. I just didn't like his martyr-complex/passive-aggressive personality.

Overall, it was okay, but still nowhere near as good (imho) as the fourth book (Not-So-Simple Simon), which is my favorite.

I don’t usually read books from the middle of a series, but this was part of the Scavenger Hunt categories and I wasn’t that excited about it so didn’t read the first two books but I don’t think that really mattered.

Rory is a member of the inner circle of the Aberdeen Pack, alongside his brother - the pack’s Beta - and is best friend of the Alpha, he also has visions of the pack’s immediate future – something that if discovered will result in his death or imprisonment but the Council. He’s attracted to Hercules, one of the three brothers brought into the pack as elite enforcers. Hercules is for all his macho posturing quite a gentle person, who doesn’t believe that he’s good enough for Rory. The pack is under attack from a band of wolves and there is a traitor inside the pack. It’s down to the inner circle and enforcers to find the traitor and defeat the enemy, before what happens in Rory’s vision comes to pass.

I am a little hyper critical of wolf shifter stories, and ones which designate letters of the Greek alphabet to the hierarchy of the pack are starting off on the back foot. Okay, so this story didn’t have the whole fated and reluctant mates thing, but I didn’t feel any real connection between the two MC’s and I felt generally indifferent to the story.

Yay Rory and Herc! I was sooo hoping that Rory would get one of the brothers!

This story was awesome! I loved that we got to experience Rory, though it would have been nice to have been let in on Rory's specialness in the book before this one? It was almost piled on too much to wonder why we didn't know about it sooner, but it didn't detract from the book at all.

The one thing that bugged me was what Herc said to Rory after he saw him dance the first time. It was kinda covered later and Herc kinda said he was sorry but only in a half-a$$ed kinda way. It hurt Rory's feelings and was just kinda pushed aside. Of course I understand more important things ended up happening but still..

I also wish we could have heard more about how Herc feels he's more an Omega than an Enforcer/Elite Warrior. I'm hoping that's kinda developed a bit more in a future book. I mean I understand that he's a big, big guy and can take down just about anyone but I like his softer side and again you brought me to tears when Herc felt like he was losing Rory.

Another great read even though I wanted to smack Ares around most of the time!

We finally get to really meet Rory. It took me a minute to realize who he was since he played such a small part in the earlier stories. Hercules is attracted, but as one of the elite enforcer, he needs to keep his eye on the ball and his nose to the grind stone... or whatever his brother Ares keeps preaching at him. No time for fraternizing, even though he only has eyes for Rory.

Rory feels let down when Hercules tries to ignore him, so he figures to go visit friends at another pack to give himself some breathing room. When the bad guys interfere he ends up back at Aberdeen and finally getting a change to really connect with Hercules :)

More skulduggery from the sidelines and we still don't know who the troublemaker is, but it's looking more and more like someone high up in the hierarchy. Hope they flush him out soon.

I liked the concept of the story. I am however tired of reading about couples where one of the MCs needs to run after the other to convince him to be together. So far all the books in this series had that. What was also lacking was the fact that I found that the other characters were sort of forgotten throughout the series. In the first book Iben admitted that he could read auras. His ability was never used in this book even thought it would've been the best way to figure out who the traitors were. Yes, all of the troubles might've been avoided that way, but at least the series would be consistent.

I love this series. The books each deal with a couple, but have an ongoing storyline. This book is about Hercules and Rory. Hercules is an elite enforcer and Rory is a member of Iben's inner circle and a friend that he grew up with. Basically, there is a bunch of intrigue going on and a reason that these two shouldn't be together. That hasn't stopped them though.

As I said, I love this series. It has an interesting alpha, is funny and heartwarming, has tons of intrigue, and is fast moving. You never know what you are in for. There are enemies coming from everywhere. What more could you ask for?

Liked this addition to the series. Hercules was a jerk to Rory at the beginning and...really Rory and he just ignored it. This didn't sit well with me. The sudden turn around for Hercules was a little much for me to believe. There really wasn't a good enough reason for that when he had been fighting it so hard.

I did like the story though. It was cute and sweet like these stories tend to be. I wish that the characters were a little more equal. It's beginning to feel a little too much like big guy and little guy/ boy and girl type relationships to me!

Less than one star. I couldn't finish the book, I didn't even make it through half. If someone your interested in tells you not to touch them again or you will effectively press charges, you don't hit them multiple times simply because you don't want them to swear! This was the third thing that happened in this book that I just couldn't stomach and it was the last thing I read. This started out as a promising series but I won't be reading any more.

NO! When someone tells you not to touch them and then you turn around and spank them for swearing?! NO! I wished Rory would have stuck to his guns, I wanted someone different for him. Rory needs someone better for him. I hated Hercules and for that 2 stars. The name calling, the shower scene, the spanks, the whole embarrassment in front of Sissy, the not taking what Rory had to say about his visions seriously, etc. Everything about Herc I hated. No redemption in my eyes.

Really surprised how much I liked this. Wasn't expecting to at all. Rory was pretty great, even if he had a couple TSTL moments. And Herc was really great, even if he had his ALPHA DUDE moments, but he's a werewolf so it's to be expected. The Big Drama was pretty decent, I didn't see the resolution coming so that was good.

I just didn't feel it. Rory and Hercules were both mehh. For an enforcer Hercules was way too insecure. And apparently Rory has the gift of vision but hasn't had one up until now. Where were his visions in the previous books? This series is not the best shifter series out there. It lacks a lot. This book was the least interesting of the series so far. It was okay, but nothing special.

I am loving the whole setting of this book - the characters and story is just great :)

I can't say that I loved the whole, I can swear but you can't thing. That would piss me off. No one tells me how ot love my life or what I can and can't do within reason.
If you like a total dom alpha male then you would love this one.
