Un livre oublié de dostoïvski, la première partie parle de fait divers a petersbourg, de l'hiver passé, d'un mariage, d'un décès... la deuxième partie fut bien plus marquante, il s'agit d'un memoire de sa femme, elle y raconte sa vie difficile après avoir perdu beaucoup de ses biens, dont une part d'un appartement et croula avec son mari sous de lourdes dettes (sa naïveté face aux impitoyables créanciers n'aida pas à la situation),
