Nancy Loewen grew up on a farm in southwestern Minnesota, surrounded by library books and cats. She's published more than 140 books for children. FOUR TO THE POLE (co-authored with polar explorer Ann Bancroft) and THE LAST DAY OF KINDERGARTEN were Minnesota Book Award finalists. Her WRITER'S TOOLBOX series received a Distinguished Achievement Award from the Association of Educational Publishers.
Nancy lives in Saint Paul and has an MFA in Creative Writing from Hamline University. She has two adult children and a cat who sometimes bites her knees under the table as she writes.
Cute retelling of Odysseus's encounter with the cyclops from the cyclops' pov. It's always interesting to see the story from the villains' point of view. Okay not always, but I have encountered some excellent stories from an alternate viewpoint (although this tends to turn straight up villains into antiheroes. not always a good idea.) I loved the how the saying "you are what you eat." ties into the story. Fun story to read with your children. Recommended? Sure Buy/Borrow? Borrow
Myths from the Other Side may grow on me. This is the first one I have read and for me, they aren't as wonderful as Fables from the Other Side. We've heard this story from Odysseus, now we hear from Polyphemus the Cyclops. I'm not sure there ia a good twist from either side in this myth.
