I have to say I really, really enjoyed this book.
Taylor is strong, or at least she appears to be she has her two best friends Harper and Jase and that's all she needs, she doesn't date, she doesn't need the hassle if you let someone in they'll just turn around and let you down and while she may not be happy as such she's content. Until she meets Jackson Brent and then she has to re-evaluate her life and her decisions since he seems determined to spoil her carefully made plans, how dare he.
Jackson is hot but it's not just that he's just.....wow...what can I say I love Jackson and his brothers and all the characters. This book felt real, the conversations the interactions and the characters, while I loved this book I have to say that at times Taylor annoyed me, yes I understand her issues and her past but seriously she needed to open her eyes.

I liked the storyline but I just couldn't stand the dialogue. It's like something I would write when I was fifteen. And the slut shaming. My goodness. There was too many capitalised words used, not just in, but as sentences. The story just made it bearable.

Once I started reading this I could not put it down!! This is a story on Taylor and Jax(him and his eyes....SWOON)has a chance encounter and they have an instant connection. I loved Taylor and Jax together!! I wish she had given into Jax a lot sooner, it would have saved her a lot of work. They both have troubled pasts. Taylor is known by others as Ice because they say she is as cold as ice. She doesn't open up easily to others except her 2 BFF's Harper and Jase because her parents were killed by someone who was suppose to love and trust. Jax also has a troubled past. He didn't have a very good relationship with his parents and after they were killed he ended up having to take care of his 2 younger brothers Mason and Reuben.
This was such an awesome book and I don't wonna give any spoilers away all I can say is you def have to get this book and READ it!! I will say it has a HEA and there will be a second book coming out soon on Mason and Taylor's bf Harper....I can't wait!! I love Harper, she is such a character!!

I really wanted to give this book 5 stars but frustratingly because of editing issues I can only give it 4.
We meet Taylor whose life used to be happy and complete…… but tragedy stuck.
Her parents were murdered by someone she trusted.
She used university as an excuse to run away from her past.
Five years on, Taylor still has trust issues and keeps the world blocked out. She is petrified of feeling again and ending up hurt.
She likes to keep herself within a very controlled bubble which only her two oldest friends Harper and Jase can penetrate.
All her friends want is for her to have a spark for life again!
A chance encounter in a coffee shop with the drop dead gorgeous Jackson Brent…….ignites Taylor’s spark and her life is turned upside down.
Jackson is a very successfully club owner, who has worked hard to get over his own troubled past to become a role model for his younger brothers Mase and Reuben.
No girl as ever been worth more than a one night stand till he meets Taylor……..
He sets it his mission to break through her armour and bullshit to simply make her his.
This is the start of a battle of wills between Jackson and Taylor………. Jackson going after what he wants and Taylor running from what she wants!!!
Who will the battle???
Can love really conquer all???
I really enjoyed this story and was totally sucked in to Jackson and Taylor’s world and loved being taken on the rollercoaster ride to happiness with them. I wasn’t able to put the book down and read it within a day.
The ending didn’t disappoint me either……
Unfortunately, this book was poorly edited and it’s something I normally don’t mention, as I hate to be negative towards an author who has worked so hard to publish a book.
If a storyline grips me I tend to not notice the editing but frustratingly there were a few too many errors which meant I had to re-read many sentence for them to make sense causing my reading flow to stop.
I am highlighting this issue simply so the author is aware and can hopefully change them and make this good book a great one!
Regardless of the editing issues, this book is worth the time taken to read it. I simply fell in love with the characters and their stories.
As I always say a good book needs to make me laugh, cry, smile and scream………this book did it all.
I can’t wait for Mase and Harper’s story and really hope Jase and Reuben get books too.

Oh Jackson you're a fine piece of a** need a little work in the manners department, "damn girl, you can seriously move. Eff me, so god damn hot!! Wanna come to the bar? Let me get you a drink?" I mean he really does need to work on his manners, "maybe before you start screaming you god damn head off in my house and waking my brothers up, you could use your effing manners and say thank you for looking after you last night since you were high as a effing kite and passed out, falling straight on one very pi**ed off head doorman." He's cocky, "babe..." he laughed softly and he blinked slowly... "if you really want me to believe that you don't want me, you probably shouldn't be staring at me like you haven't eaten in a week and I'm the effing Sunday roast!" He likes to be the one to make the decisions, "I've decided that you're gonna be my girl, all in." He's quite possessive, "watch where you're effing going in the future. You could of god damn killed my girl...and all because you were too busy being a effing prissy girl, twirling around on the ice like it made you look good. Well it effing didn't, and now your face matches your performance. Effed. Learn your effing lesson. Dumb eff." He has a temper that is all 'alpha male', "what the eff?! I tell you that you're my girl, we have a great day, you do something you've never done before, I drop you off home with a smile on your face and the next night I find you out on a date with another effing guy? Tell me Taylor, what the eff were you effing thinking?" He likes the word Eff I'm noticing signs of an 'alpha male'.

In this story, both Tay & Jax have horrible pasts that hold them back from committing to relationships. Taylor’s nickname is “Ice” and Jackson just finds something about Taylor that he’s intrigued about and considers her his equal – even with her fiesty bitchiness (it’s kind of a turn on)! As an alpha male, Jax has his eyes set on what he wants and he is not giving up that easily! But can he melt through Taylor’s shield that she so strongly holds in place to keep everyone out, including her two bff’s?

This was a great power-struggle story for both Taylor and Jackson – to see how both have changed from beginning to end was pretty awesome – like I said, you will swoon for Jax <3 !!! I also loved the Brent brothers – they played small parts but they were definitely there! Taylor’s bff’s Harper and Jace played a bit bigger roles to try and help her out and I loved them for that. Taylor’s bad-assery and the humor in the story are great! The story alternates point of views between Taylor and Jackson, which is great to know what they’re both thinking!

The ending kind of jumps ahead a little bit but it was definitely cute with Jax alpha male dominance and all, but Tay loves it and wouldn’t change it for the world. A definite happily ever after!

Taylor Corsi is a girl who's broken. Her Nickname 'Ice' comes from her emotionless persona and bitchy attitude. She's a girl who's lived through a shitty experience and ploughs through life in autopilot. She isn't interested in sleeping with men, or even relationships. But when Jackson (Jax) comes along, she can't help but to feel again.

Jax is relentless is perusing Taylor and doesn't take no for an answer, literally. He goes to extreme lengths to get her to open up to him and to fight her demons but will she eventually let down her walls for someone she's just met? or will she fight with all her might for what she thinks is right in preventing heartache?

I loved this story! Taylor is irritating as shit but her character gets better as the book goes on. Jax is full of mischief and is funny as hell. He's an alpha you instantly fall for because of his patience and relentless pursuit for what he wants.

The story itself was flawless. 2 half's make a whole and this story made it look exactly that. With trauma on both sides, you can instantly see they are a match made in heaven. But it's not that simple, and that's what made this book amazing!

Can't wait to read more from D Breeze.

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I really enjoyed this book and had finished it in just a few hours.
Taylor Corsi is a strong willed young women who has faced major tragedy in her life but with the help of her 2 best friends has gotten through it and is living her life in London and attending University but she has no-one special in her life and has vowed to stay away from men forever.

Jax Brent hasn't had an easy life growing up either but is now the proud owner of his 3rd nightclub opening up in London. One afternoon in a coffee shop Taylor literally bumps in to Jax and a spark ignites straight away but Taylor quickly dismisses it and Jax has a fight on his hands to win her over and how will she react when he reveals secrets from his past.

A great debut novel from D Breeze and I'm looking forward to starting book 2 in this series, Resist.

Different plot

3.5 Stars

I'm so disappointed that the proofreading in this book let it down. The story was different, certainly one of the best past demons I've read for a female lead, but the glaring errors overshadowed the story too often.

Good characters, interesting will they/won't they plot, that would have made it a 4.5 star read.

There were some real laugh out loud moments, especially a scene in a restaurant and another in a cinema.

It was a story about lack of trust, building walls to avoid being hurt, and friends who could see through it all.

Jax is a hot as hell character who's almost as broken as Taylor, and equally as stubborn.

Overall an enjoyable read.

I liked the story but the dialogue was a like some mix of gangster teenage lingo that didn't fit the age of the characters.

I hated the female main character. She was awful. She describes herself as a bitch and the writer portrayed her as such. This is one book that I really wanted to see the male lead character walk away and keep walking. YES! She was that bad.

The author must look up how to properly conjugate the verb "to see." There were too many mistakes for it just to be a typo. Also, the author does not know what the verb "wonder" means. Frequently, she meant wander but used wonder. I suppose you can wander while wondering and wonder about wandering, but they definitely cannot be used interchangeably.

Surreptitious was a really good read for a debut novel.

Taylor Corsi is a tough, fiercely independent young lady who has seen more than her fair share of heartbreak. Losing both of her parents a few years before had forever changed her and not for the better.

Along comes Jackson Brent with his gorgeous eyes, hot body and very domineering personality and Taylor has finally met her match.

Taylor and Jax's story was definitely entertaining. They had both been through some tough times in the past, but together eventually brought out the best in each other. Great characters, great friendships and a fun, heart warming read. Watch out for book two in the London Series coming soon.

This was an enjoyable read, the story wasn't rushed and flowed well. Both having a past and secrets that they are clinging on to, Taylor and Jackson's relationship is hostile. Taylor fights against it and builds her walls even higher, making it harder for Jackson to break through despite knowing that she is "the one" his "it". But can they get past each other's secrets and finally truly be together?

Whilst I enjoyed the story, it didn't grip me. This is the start of the London series and I may pick up the other books in time but I'm not itching to read the others stories.

I liked this read. I don't know If I loved it. BUT I did really enjoy it. I loved the Alpha Male vibe Jackson was sending off. And that he would not just walk away from Taylor without a fight. BUT I really wanted to shake Taylor so hard at some points in it. I get she gad a bad past but COME ON GIRL! Suck it up! LOL. Other then wanting to shout at Tay I rally did like the story. So much so I read it in one sitting :)

D Breeze is a new author to me and i decided on this book as i loved the cover and the synopsis drew me in. It was not a disappointment, it was full of great characters, hot brothers and a couple with a connection that they just couldn't deny or avoid.
I was hooked on this book and found i stayed up late to get it finished.
I love Taylor and Jackson, they both have issues to deal with from their pasts. I love their flirting, banter and Taylor's stubborness.

Great read

I had a really hard time with the dialogue. I love the alpha male but sometimes the way two characters interact with each other can be annoying. I think Taylor was over the top with everything, she doesn't develop just has an epiphany one day "wow, I am an unreasonable bitch". It just didn't work for me.

Just ok

I liked the story but it was missing something for me. I didn't feel emotionally connected with the characters. I finished the story but more because I was determined to finish and not because I wanted to know what happened. Basically just boring. If there wasn't an epilogue I would have felt cheated and probably would have returned for a refund.

A debut novel for this author that is well accomplished. I liked the female lead and how she was a bot frosty she has her reasons for it, but i liked how she did not fall head over heels straight away for Jax.Both characters are complete opposites and go through their own trials through the story and it helps you to feel more for them.
