An adorable leveled reader based off the cultural phenomenon My Little Friendship is Magic!
The ponies and their pets are always there to help one another. A pet is a very special kind of friend.
Meet Angel--Fluttershy's bossy but loving bunny--Gummy, Pinkie Pie's toothless alligator--Winona, Apple Jack's work dog--and so many more in this Level 1 Reader!
This book basically serves as an introduction to my little pony characters and the pets they have. I’m not a huge fan of this particular franchise, but my daughter likes it a bit and picked this book. It’s aimed at very early readers but a lot of the names would be tricky (maybe unless the child knows them very well). There wasn’t much else to it beside that so I don’t think it was really that great for the intended audience. Seems like a cash grab type book more than anything actually beneficial to the readers.
Synopsis:"The ponies and their pets are always there to help one another. A pet is a very special kind of friend. A Level 1 Reader introducing the pets of all your favorite ponies!"
My Review: This was a great first level book, especially for the pony fans. The familiar characters makes for easy attention keeper and especially if the reader has seen the pet episodes. The sentences are simple and contain familiar words. It is not so much a story but descriptions of the different pets.
Another basic learning to read book that Mercy picked out on one of our shopping trips. This one focuses not just on the current main My Little Ponies, but on their pets. Small wonder that it's a current hit with her love of animals. Not much interest still in actually "reading" the story after one or two times a day, but she does love pointing to the animals or trying to describe the pictures (play, read, etc) when there are activities going on. A good way to make many uses of the same book as a child grows into it.

This easy reader has one redeemable quality. Before the story begins, they highlight four challenging vocabulary words for the kids to find while reading. Other than that, it was exactly what you'd expect and with MLP.
In true MLP fashion everything is wonderful. But the truth is, everyone loves their pets cuz they make you feel good. Thanks to this book I now want a falcon and a Phoenix.
