Widow Rosa Hostetler has one month to pay her delinquent taxes before the county auctions her farm. She’s prepared to sell whatever is necessary to pay the lien, but she isn’t willing to request money from the community’s widow fund. She’s embarrassed and refuses to admit she needs help. Rosa depends on income from selling eggs, but when that income is threatened, only a miracle can help Rosa accept the kindness of a neighbor.

Ruth Reid is a CBA and ECPA best-selling author of the Heaven on Earth series. She's a full-time pharmacist who resides in Florida with her husband and three children.
Being very selective this year about my 5 star ratings and this is the first book to get it in 2015. I literally read this in one sitting, I totally identified with Rosa, there are times even the best Christian wants to ask God "why?" "what have I done to deserve this?" "When is the trouble going to end?" I appreciate reading a book about someone normally strong in their faith, having those feelings, made me feel better about when I do it. But not only does this book brings those things to light, it also brings out God's time and his answers come in those times, not ours.
Rosa was different in this novella than in the first one Always in my Heart where she was self-assured, quick with opinions to help others and had a strong personality.
This book might have taken place a year or so later, but suddenly she's meek, unsure of herself and fearful of her future as she sees the bind in which her deceased husband left her.
Her only source of income is the eggs she sells from her hens. However a dog keeps attacking her chickens and she’s sure it’s a dog belonging a neighbor who is adamant it's not. It goes on and on. I won’t go into more detail, but she was treated unfairly and never went to the bishops or anyone else for help.
I don’t know it just seemed so incredible, i.e. improbable and to be honest, frustrating!
Adam Bontrager was best friends with Uriah Hostetler and made a promise with dying Uriah to care for Rosa. Adam is now healed of his scars and is getting back into horse training; he keeps his horses in the Hostetler's barn.
Will Rosa open up about the issues she faces with her property? Or is she too concerned about her chickens? Does God have a miracle for Rosa?
Ruth Reid does an excellent job with writing this short story novella. She wrote a page turner for sure.
I really loved this story. It did not feel rushed at the end like most novellas do. Loved that she sold eggs and I got to learn more about someone with chickens.
The way author, Ruth Reid, ends the book says it all..."We will trust God's providence - Always." Rosa learns through the pages of this story, how Everything she needed. God provided. Joy instead of mourning. An end to grief. The beginning of a new life."
I Love how Ruth inserted the biblical story from Genesis.. "Isaac spoke up and said to his father Abraham,"Father, Yes my son. Abraham replied. The fire and wood are here, but where is the lamb for the burnt offering? Abraham answered, God himself will provide the lamb."
In one month Rosa, an Amish widow, will lose her farm and thus her egg business. Her neighbor promised her husband he would look after her. But the truth is he loves her. When an English neighbor 's dogs start killing her chickens she knows she's in real trouble. Does Rosa fall in love? Does she manage to save her farm? Does her neighbor's heart soften? Does Rosa realize she is Always In His Providence? An Amish miracle novella by Ruth Reid.
God works in all of our lives…we just need to be open to see it and be ready for it. It took Rosa quite awhile to realize it. This was a great novella. I really wish there was a 20 or 30 book series based on the novellas about the Bowman’s and Rosa and hopefully Becky Byler. Poor girl! She is even being talked about in my review.
Rosa, a widower is trying to save her farm from being sold to pay delinquent taxes. She needs help but doesn't want to accept it until she leaves it up to God.
Always His Providence is about Rosa Hostetler, who has a little problem with pride… not something unheard of – even among the Amish. Although she is committed to being Amish, Rosa’s pride may just cause her to lose her farm!
If you’ve been following my blogs, you know me by now, and you’ve already figured out that I’m thinking “shame on you, Rosa. Just ask for help!” Poor thing, she’s wallowing in fear, but she’s determined that she’s going to go it alone!
First one thing, then another, comes along to derail Rosa’s plans to save her farm. I won’t say any more, so that I don’t run all the wonderful surprises you’ll find in this amazing story!
Ruth Reid is such a FANTASTIC author! I’ve been reading Amish fiction for years, and I have many favorite authors of Amish fiction, but Ruth’s books will always remain on my TOP SHELF.
If you enjoy reading a story with lots of surprises, you’ll love Always His Providence!
The story of Rose and Adam felt real to me. Nothing felt contrived. I like a story where the main characters have to deal with their issues before they can move on with their lives. Ms. Reid delivered such a story here.
I also enjoyed the tie-in with Hope and Stephen and other characters from Always in My Heart by Mary Ellis. While each novella can be read as stand-alone stories, I found them as wonderful compliments to each other.
inspirational story about an Amish widow who is about to lose her farm after the death of her husband. Her neighbor comes to her aid, but meets resistance at every turn. The fact that her husband died to save his life is the reason she rebuffs his help, but he promised her husband he would look after her. The difficulties she encounters with an English neighbor are proof that God still hears prayer and provides for our needs.
