This book helps you: - Understand slang and colloquial usage - Avoid embarrassing British - US differences - Learn about culture, festivals, and food and shopping - Fit in at a football match or follow the cricket - Order a pimple and blotch (scotch) at the rub-a-dub-dub (pub) and have a rabbit and pork (talk) with the locals
This phrasebook includes a tour of the dialects of Britain, plus sections on Scottish Gaelic and Welsh.
As an Anglophile, I have loads of British phrasebooks, histories, dictionaries, etc., so I laughed when I was given this for Christmas. However, the introduction is absorbing, and it turns out that the book overall is well done and sprinkled with good humo(u)r. I consider it a valuable addition to my Anglo-library.
Excelente diseño en todo, con frases actuales y prácticas del inglés británico hablado en la calle. Lo recomiendo mucho por su glosario y colores agradables para identificar las diversas secciones.
