Rachel Collins has inherited the care of her newborn niece after her sister and brother-in-law are tragically killed. Having already lost her parents in a tragedy, Rachel feels abandoned by the God her family had served so faithfully. Two years later, her niece's uncle shows up at her door, claiming to have just found out about his niece. When his wealthy parents threaten to sue for custody of their newly discovered granddaughter, Rachel faces loss once again. Luke thinks he has found a way to help Rachel keep little Brooke. But can they let go of their pasts in order to embrace a future together? Will it be enough to convince Luke's parents to let go of the custody suit? And will Rachel finally return to God and allow Him to heal her grieving heart?
The book moved at a very fast pace. I wish it had been longer. It is very religious. It fit the story and its characters. Luke was a very good man who just found out his brother had died and left a little girl who Rachel, her aunt was raising her. Both he and his parents had rejected his brothers new found faith. They didn't like his preachy God talk. They didn't even show up for his funeral. And then they were hypocrites trying to get custody away because they were rich and Rachel was just getting by. Luke marries her and it is very hard for them and they are faced with adversity. I liked the ending and the pearl analogy and the mysterious woman. It was a sweet epilogue.
Great book. Several twists I didn't expect. Rachels sister dies along with her husband leaving a newborn baby Rachael takes care of her for two years until Luke shows up. Brookes unce and want to be in her life.
This is a book I have read many times over the years. A story of love, forgiveness and God’s redeeming horribly painful circumstances for good. Was wonderful to watch Luke and Rachel’s relationship grow from marriage for the sake of their niece, to one of love for each other.
I loved the story. I was especially fond of the way the characters each had to find their own ways in dealing with a tragic loss. it was a beautiful reminder how God can take the tragic things in our lives and turn them into our greatest blessings.
A young woman is thrust into the role of mom when her sister and brother-in-law die in a car crash. Her parents, missionaries, died by guerillas fighting Christianity. Then she finds herself fighting for custody from the wealthy in-laws. I bet you can guess what happens.
This was a very moving book. God is always working through our lives. I cant wait for Fayla to write more books. I went to elementary school with her. She is a very strong woman in her faith.
