A 1001 CBYMRBYGU. A little story of the frog of the savannah (una rana de la sabana) and the dog of the hill (un perro del cerro). The frog and the dog have a contest to see who is the bravest. The story is told with rhyme.

“Dijo el perro del cerro:
---Hare mazapan con los dientes
del caiman! Que tal?

Y la rana de la sabana:
---Ah, pues. Le arrancare la piel
A la culebra cascabel.”

Read this book using google translate as I do not speak Spanish.
My understanding is that a hound and a frog are adversaries, and they nearly fight until a bigger enemy (lion) comes along and they band together to defeat him. Cute illustrations.

Side rant: I really wish “1001 children’s books…” did not include titles that were never published in English. This book is listen on page 336 as “the hound of the mound and the frog of the bog” but I cannot find an English edition anywhere, and this is not the first time this has happened. Machado seems like a fine author, no question, I just don’t think that it’s appropriate that speaking multiple languages nearly be a pre-requisite to complete this endeavor.
