Steve Rzasa was born and raised in South Jersey, and fell in love with books—especially science fiction novels and historical volumes—at an early age. He earned his bachelor’s degree in journalism from Boston University’s College of Communications in 2000, and then spent seven years as a reporter and assistant editor at weekly newspapers in Maine. Steve moved to Wyoming in 2007 to become the editor of a weekly newspaper there, and now works at the local library. He and his wife Carrie have two boys and live in Buffalo, Wyoming.
An intriguing approach: a group of fantasy authors brainstorm a epic-style--though, in this case, quite short--fantasy quest. Must have been fun to do, and the product isn't half bad. In fact, if anything I would have enjoyed more plot and character development in almost every chapter--er, episode. Regardless, it was well done and immensely satisfying--not like certain spic fantasies we could all name which never seem to end.
Notable cover art by Jeff Gerke has a suitable Brothers Hildebrandt atmosphere.
I've been part of a collective writing project myself and it's not easy to do. So this book, written by several authors, was a pleasant surprise indeed - fast paced, highly creative and lots of fun to read. At times it felt almost a little TOO intense, but it really did delight and inspire me. Best of all, it was a free download on the Enclave Publishing website!
