A powerful book detailing the political struggles and experiences experienced by the leader of the Republic of China, Sun Yat-Sen. This is a criminally under-read book that outlines the beliefs behind the man who kept persevering despite withstanding so many failures and setbacks in order to make China a democratic state. Sun used his intelligence and charisma to gain support for his ideals, a journey that took him 30 years. I think that anyone interested in Chinese history must read this book as a prerequisite for further understanding.

This book is interesting insofar as much as it is a firsthand account by Sun Yat-Sen, and while he writes very clearly and is adept at communicating his point, the book does not contain a whole lot of context. This book would primarily be of interest to historians, if you are looking for an account of Sun Yat-Sens life and times, look elsewhere! This is his manifesto on building a utopian Chinese state. It's interesting, but dated- primarily of interest to historians and historiographers.
