This is an excellent choice for anyone who would like to learn more about basic cooking or is moving out on their own for the first time. Many very easy recipes, fully explained and a fun attitude towards food. Also some helpful hints on how to stretch your food dollar.

The chicken and dumplings are a family favourite and fish a la foil is now my standard way to cook fish. I deviate from the recipe by cooking all portions together in a small dish but it is just as good. Bran muffins and just tried the banana muffins last night. I made mini muffins and added raisins, moist and tasty.

I needed a dessert recipe for a family gathering. After eliminating my choices from another cookbook I decided to try this one. The mocha almond torte fit the bill, ridiculously easy to make, fast and delicious. I used instant whipped topping instead of whipping cream and fudged the amount of coffee and cocoa to add but came out great. I think this could be a gluten free option easily by substituting a non gluten flour since so little is used.
