As a Quebec high school history teacher, I thought it necessary to read this and brush up on my history learned in school.

I was very happy with how it was organized, the key dates, remember icons and portraits.

As a completely bilingual kid growing up in Quebec, it was cool to see the evolution and growth of Quebec from the first struggling colonies, to being subject to England and then surviving and protecting its culture and language.
I also enjoyed the part of 10’s at the end of best places, people in our history.

I didn’t think the author was too biased or nationalist. I found him a very fair historian who explained both sides of the story.

I am very happy with this purchase and reading this book cover to cover! Now I should annotate it and bring out the best facts for my class next year!

I read this AFTER a trip to Quebec City where I was dismayed by how little I knew about Canadian and Québécois history as an American. I highly recommend reading this book BEFORE taking the trip!

Read the first 60% of this while visiting Quebec. Generally this provided a very good look at early Quebec history.
