Matthew was born in Mount Pleasant Michigan. After spending some time in New York and Virginia, his family finally settled down in the desert Southwest where he spent the remainder of his childhood.

As a young adult, Matthew decided to drop out of college in order to pursue a life of masonry and beer drinking, both of which seemed to come natural to him. A decade later, he decided these habits were beginning to wear on his health, so he eased up on the masonry.

When Matthew got married, his loving wife persuaded him that it would be in his best interest to stop drinking like a fish and find a different hobby. After several trips to the ER to get his fingers unglued, Matthew came to the conclusion that building model airplanes was too dangerous. He decided to take up writing and has had several essays published in respectable periodicals. The most popular was a letter to the editor of a local newspaper demanding that a certain speed bump be removed. He was quite sure it would have garnered more attention if Marla Pickens hadn't hogged the limelight with the recipe for her famous tuna casserole.

Matthew owes a great debt of gratitude to his wife and son who, after reading the rough draft of "Dead, but Not for Long," begged him not to quit his day job. Also, Matthew is indebted to his sister and co-author for the constructive criticism throughout the writing of the aforementioned book. The constant utterance of, "That's the dumbest thing I've ever read" helped to hone Matthew's writing skills and condition him for even the toughest reviewers.

Having thoroughly enjoyed the abuse he endured co-writing his first full length novel, he is now working on a sequel. Matthew hopes to continue writing well into the afterlife.

Stupid and one of the most deplorable characters I've ever read. Glad it was free.

ZomPoc Superhero

I was giddy with anticipation to read this novella dedicated to my favorite character in this series. I wasn’t disappointed.

This story picks up right after the events in book one and follows Eric’s adventures once leaving the hospital and ends with a bit of a cliffhanger, or more literally, a chopper dangler. In between, he relies on his extensive military experience and superior intellect to overcome any danger he unwittingly exposes himself to, to the detriment of anyone unlucky enough to be in his group. He even manages to put the hospital in greater danger without even being there.

I suspect Eric’s new friends are so thankful for his assistance that they will appear in book two to show their gratitude. I know that at least I’m very grateful for everything Eric has done! I think you will be too.

Descent characters and one not so great. I assume the author wants us to hate Eric.....he's everything the other reviewers say and more. Going in with that outlook it's a great, fun read.

If the cover doesn't make you want to read this book....
This is a short that I read before Dead, but Not for Long. I found it entertaining. Now that I'm currently reading the book mentioned above, I'm glad that Eric wasn't the lead in the main story. He is a jackwagon, that is for sure. He doesn't seem to have any redeeming qualities - Eric is the comedic punch in the gut in this zombie tale. He has an uncanny ability to avoid death (first or second) which is comically entertaining.
I'm glad to have read this book - it was enjoyable and a quick.

I picked up this short book after reading Dead, but Not for Long. I wasn't crazy about Eric in that book but in this book he really got a chance to shine (if a "chance to shine" means being greedy, selfish, opportunistic, boastful, and stumbling around like a dumbass). Eric is a cretin and a coward, the absolute last person you'd want with you (or anywhere near you!) in a zombie apocalypse but that is why I enjoyed the book so much. How many zombie books feature not a hero but a fool that you actually hope will perish??

Put it this way, if Eric was in my zombie apocalypse survival group, I would personally put a bullet in his head. Twice. I've read a lot of negative reviews on this book and the character himself but I think the author wants us to hate him. He's a schmuck and would do no good post-apoc. I want to punch his fat face, but he is one lucky douche. I might read the first books just to see what his background story is.

So I read this first, then found out it was a sequel - I'm actually pretty glad of that, because I would have been even more disappointed if I had read this after the reasonably decent first in the series. I think it was supposed to be funny, but Eric was SO unlikable, that I couldn't find any humor.

Eric is beyond belief. lol this is a funny zombie story.

No matter what happens Eric seems to come out a survivor. he is a character we can root for somebody killing him. he is truly dispicable. but . . . you just have to keep reading to see what kind of mischief he can get into next.

I love this story line and i am looking forward to reading the next book in this series.

I somehow made it to 20% but I can't go on. I've expected a funny parody but all I got was an asshole of a main character and whole bunch of chauvinistic shit on top of that. When harems were mentioned and heavily implied that women were nothing but additions to them, I knew I couldn't go on.

Read a few pages. When I realized all I wanted was for Eric to die really, really soon I decided this wasn't the book for me.
