Half Moon Shifters #3

A Taste of Honey

Rate this book
Love at first sight? Not exactly. Things work a little differently for wolf shifters, though hunky park ranger Ronnie is a dream to look at, especially when he’s in uniform. Violet’s senses have been telling her he’s the one since the first time she caught a hint of his scent. Could she really be destined to be the mate of a bear shifter? Their differences are undeniable, but that hasn’t stopped her from wondering what it would be like to live happily ever after with the drop-dead sexy ranger who also serves as war chief of the Great Smoky Mountains’ resident bear shifter tribe. But bears don’t detect their mates by scent – their methods are scintillatingly personal. Tension simmers, and one thing will either make or break both of their hopes for the future – a taste of honey.

I write what I know and love: adult romance with blue-collar heroes and real-life flavor. Tattoos, handcuffs and men in uniform are a few of my favorite things, and it shows in my thirty+ published books.

I live in the South with my man in uniform, who I married for the entertainment value. Just kidding - it was the handcuffs, err, true love. ;)

So far, our happily ever after includes a couple kids, German Shepherd dogs and a mutual appreciation of timely 'that's what she said' jokes.

When I'm not writing, I love reading, good coffee, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and whatever outdoor adventures I can find.

I also love hearing from readers, so don't be shy! If you've enjoyed something I've written, hearing from you would make my day.

I absolutely LOVED A Taste Of Honey!! It is definitely my favorite of the series!! I had been waiting for Ronnie's book and I was so not disappointed. I loved Ronnie and Violet, they were so cute together and I loved how the story really focused on them and their growing relationship.

A Taste Of Honey had romance, love, laughter, tears, a big~sexy~sweet~uniformed bear shifter, a virgin wolf shifter, sexual tension, Hot sex scenes and a HEA. I also loved seeing all the characters from the previous books as well as new characters.

I think what I enjoyed most about this book is that Violet and Ronnie fell in love without any real angst and only a little bit of conflict~thrown in to make their relationship stronger in the end. It was a sweet~fun~light read that pulled me in from the beginning and I didn't want it to end. Another great addition to the series!! Definitely going into my keeper pile to be reread!! 5 out of 5 rating.

... and Bears! Oh My! The third book in the Half Moon Shifters series is a hit! It picked up right where the last book left off. In the second book there is a hint of attraction between Violet and Ronnie and book 3 is all about them. I love it when the two leads are unsure of what the other will think - does he like me? will he love me? etc. The first third of this book the characters struggle with sharing their true feelings. I enjoy this in the book because as they get to know each other you get to know them, instead of falling in bed at first sight ;) And now a little about this story...

Violet is new to the Half Moon pack since she followed her sister, April, from Alaska to Tennessee. She is still recovering from her first embarrassing day when she threw herself at Jack (the Alpha of the pack), later she found out it was because he smelled like Ronnie. Ronnie is Jack's best friend, a local park ranger, and the war chief for the Roaring Water Tribe of bear shifters. She really likes him and swears his smell is that of her mate. But he is not a wolf, what will everyone think? What if he rejects her too? Give this book a try to see what happens and learn how bears seal a mating bond!

Favorite Passage: His gaze was drawn to her mouth and he almost leaned forward to press his lips against it, to crush them against hers and finally stop the endless wondering. Almost, but not quite. The others would notice, and as her eyes locked with his, he was struck by the gut-wrenching certainty that if he didn’t find what he was looking for in their first kiss, he wouldn’t be able to keep it together. It wasn’t a risk he could take in front of an audience – not for her sake or his. “I’d better get going,” he said, rising from the log and brushing flecks of bark from his uniform pants, trying to ignore the way his baser instincts screamed for a taste of her.

I don't think that A Taste of Honey should be considered a stand alone novel. It's the third book in the Half Moon Shifter series and there were a lot of references made to situations that obviously happened in previous books. Perhaps if I had read this series in order I would have been better prepared to like Violet, but alas I didn't therefore I didn't. Make sense? Here it is; she's really...umm, weak? I guess would be the best way to describe her. She's constantly embarrassed by the situations that shifter customs require, being a shifter and not human I thought this was poor strategy on behalf of the author. Not everyone is an alpha, I get that and some timidity is fine for Violet's personality. But Come on...if someone is trying to take your man, you're fated mate, would you just duck your head and run away? Umm that would be a negatory for any h that wanted to stay on my radar. Ronnie was big and bad, but also uber gentle with Violet, he spoke softly to her, touched her gently, coaxed her gently, made love to her gently...umm, where are all of these animal instincts I ask? I make no apologies that I like a gentleman who is not ALWAYS a gentlemen, most definitely in the bedroom.

Please don't believe that I dislike this book, it was good. Just that, good. If you crave gentle love stories mixed lightly with easily overcome obstacles and a satisfying happy ending then A Taste of Honey is right up your alley.

Book 3 of the Half Moon Shifters series, A Taste of Honey drops us right back into the pack on a Friday the 13th. Foreshadowing of troubles to come or just a silly superstition? Read the book to discover. It’s no hardship. I’ve been fortunate enough to have been given the 3 books in this series from the author for purpose of honest review. I was not compensated for the reviews, and all conclusions are my own responsibility. I adored Lonely Alpha and really liked True Alpha. But I will say that A Taste of Honey is my favorite of the three. The action is centers on the relationships of the characters rather than the danger posed by shifter hunters. But this change in the focus of the action brought Ronnie and Violet, and their concerns to the forefront.

No different than any other relationship, these two very different shifters are struggling with their own differences: will the pack accept him in, will his sleuth accept her? Their attraction and inherent shyness makes their first few encounters in the story very sweet, and then it turns to steamy hot. Yes, this is a more erotic paranormal romance – but it is all full of love, relationships and characters that are visually arresting as they appear as you read. If you haven’t read all 3 – this is the dessert course, and will certainly be satisfying.

While I really, really , really, liked the first two books in this series, this one is my favorite. I do not know if it is because I am so immersed into the world the author has created or if it is because it has some new shifter lore in it, or simply because I love Ronnie. Whatever the reason, it is my fave. I loved the two main characters. This surprised me because the first time we meet Violet in book two she is not what one would call nice. I was glad that encounter was explained and loved learning more about her and how she ended up with the Half Moon Pack. I also loved exploring the world of the bear shifters. This story is a complete story in and of itself. I definitely got more out of it having read the first two books in the series, but would have most likely enjoyed it without having read them. I am looking forward to the next book in this series.

Book number three in the Half Moon Shifters didn't really seem like it should of fit in with the series, possibly as a novella but not as number three. For one the first two book deal with Mandy and Jack. While it's nice to see Violet finally got herself a mate, it's insane that this counts as a novel in the series. Sorry I'm bias to Mandy and Jack. It was a good read though.
