A small town filled with welcoming and quirky characters.
Caroline had led the life of a high society daughter and wife, one that was filled with soul-destroying emotional abuse. When her husband unexpectedly dies, she finds herself broke and flees New York without a plan or destination in mind. Her travels lead her to Promise, a small town on the New England coast.
Following instinct, she settles in Promise and begins to explore her new found independence and the pleasurable side of love with ruggedly handsome local, Luke Edwards. Her contentment is shattered as past resurrects itself and she needs to find the courage to face it before she can truly re-build her life.
You have to dream, think big and believe. Then, while you're at that - work harder than you ever have before!
Aneesa Price writes romance and lives it with her university sweetheart and husband. After having surmounted the challenges of being in a bi-racial marriage in the newly democratic South Africa, she now attributes her marital bliss to purposefully added spice and passionately resolved differences. After living in a variety of cities in South Africa, the cosmopolitan city of Johannesburg is the playground that she enjoys with her husband and two daughters.
Aneesa completed her internship in counselling psychology and went on to work first as a therapist and then in Corporate Finance in on projects and in organizational change. This diversity in experience, coupled with her understanding of the human psyche, is translated into her writing through the creation of believable, flawed characters with the innate ability to overcome adversity.
She writes to give her readers the gift of experiencing the new and fascinating, something she strives for herself when she explores new places, reads, cooks with her kids or goes picking for antiques with her husband. She welcomes new connections so feel free to 'friend' her on facebook or follow her on twitter.
"Finding Promise" by Aneesa Price is a wonderful novel written in beautiful prose and has a believable and heart felt story line. I am not often taken in by romance novels like this, being often too cynic to enjoy love stories. However, the first few pages follow a very sad and grief struck Caroline. Not that her late husband has been the perfect husband, no, her feelings about her life back in New York are remarkably ambiguous. Anyone who ever lost someone knows how time stands still or moves slower. Price mimics this perfectly in her prose. You can simply feel the sadness and the weight pulling her down as Caroline comes to realises she needs a new life. Price gives her character an eye for beauty and does not let her crash but gets her to move on with the view of a new life and new projects, like that house in Promise that she is going to restore to beauty. I thought it was excellent writing how over the course of the first ten % of the book on my kindle the heaviness drops of Caroline and her spirit comes back. The story picks up pace just perfectly timed. She finds a new social life and on a girl’s night out she gets noticed by Luke, the brother of her new friend Luke and his business rival Brady. Rebuilding the house becomes symbolic for the re-building or actually new building of her own life in this lovely place Promise, full of helpful people. It is time for her scars to heal and become independent, shake of the ghosts from the past and learn to live for real. Fortunately Price does not make it simplifying and unrealistically east for her heroine, nor does she create unconvincing obstacles in the way of romance. The problems Caroline faces are deep and they are being dealt with perfectly within the course of the novel. I highly recommend this book to you if you like to feel good after you read a book. A must read for romance fans.
A 5 * review of a very sweet romance. Ok, so I am not the romance type, I was, long ago, when I was a teen and money was little and time was in abundance, I used to read a book a day of my sisters Mill's and Boons books after I finished reading my own book. But I over dosed on romance and too this day, I am not a fan of overly much romance in a book or heaven forbid a romance novel. Thus, when starting this book, I went - oh my...... ok. Here we go. And indeed I went. The one reason why this book made such a strong positive impression on me is because the woman in the book does something. I hate it when a woman arrives at a home, look at the place, garden etc and say, I will get this place together. Translating in her waiting for a man to save her. Not it this story. The woman realizes what she can and can't do and go at it with a passion. She gets help when she needs it but no glossing over the work parts to get to the hot steamy part here. Oh no, here you read how she works, how she comes to make decisions and how she works at her situation and her future. No astounding plot twists, no surreal insight. It is a romance, an adult romance at times. But still a romance. But one where the characters are human flawed and smart enough to know it. I loved the book for the fact that it is a real story. Not a romance disguised as a story. I can't wait to read more by this author. WaAr

I love the way you can get totally wrapped up in her stories and you find yourself right there next to her characters feeling what they are feeling! I can't wait for the next book in this series! Please check her out! I know you won't be disappointed!
First and foremost, I want to thank Aneesa for the opportunity to read and review this amazing story!
Caroline is a woman raised in high society New York, a woman who has had every decision made for her, every material need taken are of. And every bit of self confidence, independence, and emotional stability ripped from her in the process.
After the death of her abusive husband, Caroline packs up only what se needs and sets off to find herself on a road trip set for no where. What she finds is everything she's wanted, dreamed of, and never knew she needed.
Luke is an all American man, born and raised with good old fashioned qualities in a small coastal town where everyone knows everyone. And their business. He's strong, loving, loyal, and absolutely gorgeous.
Instant attraction between Caroline and Luke, on the spot friendships with more support than Caroline has ever known with three strong women, and relationships with people throughout the town make Caroline realize that everything she's searched for on her personal journey is all within the small town limits.
We follow Caroline on her personal journey of finding herself, healing herself, and realizing that she is far stronger than she could have ever known.
This story touches your heart in ways that make you feel every emotion the characters feel. Every woman has had a moment of their life where they feel the pain Caroline has Lived with, and worked through the same inner struggles. Which just makes this story all the more beautiful.
Five stars for this wonderful story. I hope that every person that reads this novel finds the same wonderful things in it that I have.
Aneesa Price Finding Promise Book 1 in the Promise Series
A woman striving for independence. A man with a charmed upbringing. A small town filled with welcoming and quirky characters.
Caroline has led a high society life, full of parties, engagements, salon appointments and has always done everything to please everyone around her. When her husband dies unexpectedly, leaving her just their apartment, she decides rather than moving back home to her parents (which is what is expected of her) she’ll jump in her car and just see where the road leads to. After a month of travelling, she comes across Promise, and decides this may just be the place to start over.
New friendships, relationships and family. This book is more than just romance, it’s about Caroline finding herself and realising she can do so much more than she ever knew. Luke, with his old fashioned values, has to come to terms with the fact that he can’t solve all problems, sometimes people have to face their demons alone. There is so much emotion in this book, the reader can feel each hard decision, and rides along the rollercoaster next to Caroline. Well written and with just enough description the reader is drawn completely into the story.
It’s been a while since I read a romance novel, and books like this make me want to curl up and wish the story would never come to an end. We all know how they are going to end, but it’s how it gets there that makes you either love or hate them. I would be surprised if anyone doesn’t fall in love with this one once getting to the end.
I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.
This book was provded free from the author in exchange for honest literary review.
Caroline is on the run. Running away from the controlling family. Trying to escape the memory of her abusive now dead husband. Running and trying to find herself. Along the way Caroline stumbles upon a little town called Promise. A quaint little coastal small town. Everyone knows everyone and treats each other as family. A place whete Caroline feels for the first time she may just heal, find love, and find herself
Usually here I rant and rave about things I like about each book. For me this novel is more than that it is personal. See I am Caroline. Been in an abusive relationship for 8 years and finally and realizing freedom. It took me this long to get the strength to get away. I let him take everything from me till I had no piece of me left. Every sliver of doubt, every lack of faith in yourself Caroline felt is all the truth. The road to find yourself is the longest and hardest road a person can every walk. You have to make that decision to take charge and refuse to be the victim anymore. Thank u Aneesa for addressing this. It is so accurate....I can't say it enough. Caroline's story is one women need to read. Know that the abuse is not okay and run awag from the first sign. Even if you have been in the relationship for 25 years. Tomorrow is a new day. You have a chance to start all over. You can feel like a person again. Please read this novel
I was given this book in return for an honest review. Caroline is a woman from a high society background whose emotionally abusive husband passes away. She decides on a fresh start and ends up in the small town of Promise, full of quirky and sweet people. She makes new friends and meets a man named Luke. Luke is helping her restore a house that she fell in love with on sight. Now she's falling for Luke. As she gains her independence and confidence back, she becomes a strong female character who accepts help when needed, instead of feeling the need to prove she can do everything on her own. Her new best friends, Faith and Rachel convince her to use her baking talents to open her own bakery. She will need to head back home to her uppity family and friends in order to raise the money to do it. Can her newfound confidence stand up to her old life? This was a typical romance novel, however, the quirky characters will make it one you remember. I want to live in Promise and open a bookstore, as soon as I figure out how to get there. Very enjoyable book. WaAr

Sweet. That's the one word I would use to describe this story. It's warm & fuzzy and makes you feel all hopeful and cheerful. It's a joy to read and a blissful escape. I liked the character of Caroline and how she's overcome a traumatic past to be a successful woman. I liked Luke and his good ol' boy charm. Aneesa does a wonderful job in describing the scenes and settings, very descriptive; I could picture the town of Promise in my mind and taste the salty sea air.
If you want some light-hearted joy and warm fuzzies, this is the book for you. WAAR
I was gifted a copy of this book by the author. I loved that this book is based on a woman who has had a rough life and rises above it all. I was proud of Caro and her choices in life. Great read!
I was gifted this book to give an honest review. Finding Promise is one of those romance books that just melts your heart! Here you have Caroline who comes from not on a ruthless non-feeling family but also a marriage that was just loveless no romance at all. When Caroline drifts into Promise she just falls in love with the little town and soon not only finds love, but finds herself and makes a great friends. At first she is shy and very weary but soon learns that she can open up and actually be herself and not worry about what Luke thinks of her. She learns that she can live on her own without the help of her parents and dead husband, and even ends up doing something that she never thought she could do before. She learns to become a very independent woman, that every body in the towns grows to love.
Caroline learns to accept help and is not afraid to do all the hard work herself. You see the way her and Luke act when together and a part, how she handles situations. The love that Luke and Caroline(Caro) begin to find within each other is just so sweet and magical. I love how he woos her and she opens herself up to him each time.
Overall it was a wonderful read and I can not wait to find out more about the Town Promise, and the residents.
I would also like to know what was the meaning of this part of the book.
"So, he took her as far as the lounge cum dining room cum kitchen." What was the point of using the word "cum" and I do believe there should have been commas used, but that is just my thought.
The only thing that truly bothered me and I had to give this book a 4 star rating was the grammar. I am no grammar queen so I am not good at catching it. But in Finding Promise there were a lot of grammar mistakes, that had me going back to re-read the sentence and fixing it in my head. Here are a few examples:
"Wiping the tears from his eyes, Luke asked, "We only have ourselves to blame. Remember, we thought them how to fight so that they could protect themselves against pushy boys." Thought should have been taught.
"When those customers walk through the door, they a cozy, unfussy place where they can relax and have some great food to eat." They a cozy should have been they are cozy.
There are a few more but I will not list them all.
If you are looking for a great romance book, a woman who becomes independent, finds not only love but finds a wonderful friendship with new people and do not mind the grammar spots then pick up this book.
Author Aneesa Price has done it again!! What a spectacular story you’ll find as you begin “Finding Promise”. Yes, it’s a romance, but also so more. You’ll understand what I mean when you read this book.
It’s a journey, a fresh start in life and a PROMISE of happiness. Caroline is looking for all that, and she finds it plus amazing new things to be added to her life. (not going tell you)
A little town called Promise offers Caroline a glimpse at just how great of a person she is. What she can do by herself, taking charge of the situations, tackling them one by one, then and only then does she ask for help on the ones that she can’t do by herself. GO Caroline, you can do it.
A lesson in life as a women, for that matter as a person… you can do things on your own, even though you have always that you couldn’t and you had always leaned on or depended on the help of someone. You, yourself can build that future, a place, a home, a promise of self gratification, but most importantly is that your own future is YOURS so take a shot at building your own future.
Finding Promise will lead you through new beginnings, new friends, a new life, and yes a new love! Healing comes with time, as you rebuild trust. Opening your mind and heart to a whole new world. Kind of like the way Caroline is rebuilding or renovating her new home. Time and a lot of patience is what it takes. Oh my, the sense of worth that you will gain and find is elating. It brings a smile to my face just thinking of the end results of whats in the Promise, the promise of feeling complete. Of self worth.
Thank you so much Author Aneesa Price for this brilliant novel. One we all can take a piece from and apply to our own lives.
Readers, don’t be turned away from the thought of this being a romance, because it’s also a lesson in life. Please take the time to read this one, “Finding Promise” will have you reading it to the end, and not being disappointed at all.
Caroline is raised and then married in a gilded cage. Despite being wealthy she is still living in a abusing prison. When her husband dies she seizes the moment to escape. During her cross country meanderings she finds herself in a small coastal town, Promise. Promise offers her everything she has been seeking – a new start in life, independence and possibility for romance. I was given this book as an ARC for an honest review. I haven’t read a regular romance novel in a while and I’m glad I started with Finding Promise. I found this story very sweet and believable. At first I thought Caroline was going to be one of those simpering women who need a man to take care of her but this was not the case. Luke, her love interests is strong without being macho overbearing. I found all the characters in the book likeable. Makes me wish I lived in Promise. I look forward to reading the next book in the series.
I am completely in love with Finding Promise...the town, the people, & their story!!! This novel takes us on a journey that is much more than a simple love story. Full of depth & charisma it didn't take long to feel for these characters & what they were going through. Although I did not expect to feel so strongly about their decisions. I found myself sharing in their laughter, heartache, & most of all their self discovery. Isn't it funny how we grow ... not always realizing how much our past affects & influences us? I love the endless possibilities we find when we take a moment to reflect & take back control. Don't get me wrong, this is so much more than a love story! It's full of excitement & laughter too. I love how Caroline attacked her issues, & I especially loved how Luke attacked his! =) The community of Promise is a wonderful magical place that I look forward to visiting again & again!

I have no words..... ok, yeah I do. This book sucked me right in, I wasn't into contemp romance up until recently, but I loved this book. This is actually the very first book Mrs. Price wrote, yet it was the last (for now until she writes more) of hers that I have read. Caroline, is shy and quite naive really. That is until she "heals" after finding the town of Promise. And making friends with Faith and Rachel. Then she meets Luke, and she blossoms. For me this was a great book to read at the end of the year. Its been a long time since the author published this book, but I do hope she revisits these characters and gives us more.
While I think the premise of this book is good, I was disappointed with the editing. There were so many errors, inconsistencies, and confusing remarks. The story is set in the U.S. however the characters' phrases, thoughts, and conversations use words and references not used by Americans. I hoped that it would get better but I had to stop reading halfway.
This was a terrific book by Aneesa Price. I loved the way I was swept away into small-town life. The characters were engaging. The hero was downright sexy. I really wanted a happy ending for this couple and was rooting for them. Finding Promise is ideal is you want a sweet read with relatable characters, but Ms. Price knows how to turn up the heat too.I will read more from this author.
OK so this book was a very wonderful read. i loved this book from beginning to end. it took me through all the characters emotions right along with them. and all i will say is that i wanted to freaking give a piece of my mind to a couple of them. if you have not read this book i highly recommend this author and this book.
I really loved this book because the main character Caroline finds herself and begins a new life after her husband passes away. She starts her own business and meets a hot guy named Luke in the process.
I received this book in exchange for an honest review. This was a really good read that you had to pick up shortly after you put it down because you needed to find out what was next. Loved how it showed with the right people you could overcome just about everything.
