Such typical shoujo. A gloomy girl has managed to become popular through a lot of work, but still feels lonely inside. Her handsome, young teacher notes this and a relationship is formed. The other two oneshots deal first with a blooming romance between a high school girl and her childhood friend, and then with a girl whose former crush enrolls in her school. Extremely generic stuff, though the art is pretty.

I like Kozue Chiba. I like her art and storytelling, but that is not to say that all her works are great. Although she has published several short-stories, and I never set the bar very high for such, I don't think they're her strongest point. 7 Genme wa Minitsu gets my typical 3-star manga short-story rating that I give to any that aren't downright bad but also aren't remarkable in any way. Because that's what this one comes down to; it's Okay.

This volume consists of three short stories of which the first, to which also the cover and title refer to, is the longest.

7 Genme wa Minitsu
This story would have been a lot better if the love interest hadn't been her teacher. Don't get me wrong, unlike what seems to be the majority, I have no issues with student x teacher plots. But in this particular scenario, not a single character other than the headmistress (who shows on a total of 2 pages) actually treats this guy as a teacher or yet alone an adult. This teacher behaves younger than his students, you'd think he is the class pet of sorts. His behavior toward our main character Shun is also odd at best; he is much too friendly and personal toward Shun. And I don't just mean when they are on their own, he holds her hand in the middle of class and no one thinks something's off? I'm pretty sure heads would turn if any teacher would suddenly be going hand in hand with a student in any realistic scenario. As such, I didn't care much about the romance at all. The same story could have been told with him just being the funny classmate. Nonetheless, I do think that the remainder of the plot, meaning Shun settling into her class without having to act fake, was reasonably well done.

Puberty BABY
This is a cute but somewhat rushed (well, short story...) story about two childhood friends realising they actually like each other. It's cute and well done but I can't say there is anything new or special about it either. I did like it enough for me to stick to the 3-star rating, though, as the main story wouldn't have accomplished that on its own.

Your Kotonoha
This was the shortest story, yet I liked it most and I think it could have made a nice longer story. Two years ago, Yuki wrote a love letter to Rio who promptly read it out loud to the whole class and teased her about it. Now they are back in the same class and Rio goes right back to making fun of her love letter. Rio may come across as a jerk but I found that his reasoning was actually quite plausible, hence why a longer story would have left more room for him to develop. But, being the short story that it is, it was still pretty cute.

To be honest, I did not like this at all. I feel horrible, but every time I read manga, I keep comparing it to H by Sakurai Machiko.

It's basically about a student teacher relationship. The fact that fellow students encourage the girl to "go see Jun-kun" made my skin crawl. Why would you encourage an illegal, slightly weird relationship to happen? What about the consequences? Surely, a teacher would be more careful than that.

Just like H, it deals with the girl having social issues. They both don't show their true colours around their "friends" and the teacher helps bring it out in them. It touched a nice topic and there was a good quote in there but I just wasn't feeling it.

At times it was sweet, but so sweet that it made me sick. It's too much of your typical shoujo manga. I don't find anything special about it. I can see myself easily confusing it with another manga.

Innovativ ist was anderes.

So...with the first story, I felt like I was TOTALLY missing a few pages. I guess since it was a one-shot, it had to go by pretty quickly, but wow...I didn't feel relationship growth at all till the last few pages. I was honestly like: Wow, so Shun's actually all sentimental and whatnot, but when on earth did this whole relationship spring out of? Seriously frustrating. BUT the teacher was a total hottie, so it was fine. And it was an adorable ending. Like. Adorable x 100.

Puberty Baby: Creeped me out. I will not lie. This one definitely creeped me out. I mean, they're not related or anything, but like...I wasn't shipping them at all. He was a good kid and whatnot, but I kept feeling the more sibling vibe. I feel like she just woke up one morning and figured she liked him. I swear, I think it happened in a split second and I just didn't warm up to the idea. It was just...eh. And she IS older than him, right? So again, just a little weird. And the last scene with the mother walking in, I was like: This is not a normal household *Shakes head*

Your Words: Okay...this one was my favorite. They KNEW each other and whatnot and he just came back again from another school. So this is a more normal situation I feel. And like...wow...I wanted a guy like that so badly. T.T I was dying with the fluffiness instilled into this one. And the last page with the teacher and Adolescence was hilarious. <3 <3 <3

So overall,
1 star for art because it wasn't extraordinary, but the guys were uber cute and everything was drawn very cutely ^.^
2 stars for story/plot/characters: VERY cliche, this book oozes with typical school shoujo-ness. But...heh...so fluffy XD

It's a very typical shoujo , there was a lot of feelings that I felt like it was so relevant, I don't know but the end wasn't new or interesting. happy endings aren't always the best .
The two extra stories was good , I really liked them .

*3 or more is good for comics, manga or graphic novels. I never really know how to rate some of these. There are some where I'm totally in love, know automatically it is a 5 star, but then some I am just not sure about in the first couple volumes.*

The main story wasn't that good. As a teacher, I find the idea of teacher/student relationships repugnant. The two one chapter stories were really good. If they had been the whole book I would have given it five stars.

A cute little manga. It ended adorably, but everything was a little goody goody and it was easy to figure out.

SECRET OF THE 7TH LESSON (@mncgramedia © 2007)
by
CHIBA KOZUE
TORANA ASTRID Y. (Translator)

Secret of 7th lessons – romansa guru-murid yang awalnya mau bantu untuk menyesuaikan diri malah jadi saling baper-baperan.

Spring baby – ini ceritanya agak-agak lucu. Temanya childhood-friends to lovers. Tapi, mode kakak-adek zone. Pokoknya kalo lagu itu kayak Noona Neomu Yeppeo-nya SHINee.

About you – ini cerita yang paling seru menurut gue. Ada anak pindahan baru bernama Rio yang ternyata dulu pernah satu sekolah sama Yuki (sekelas malah). Bahkan dulu Yuki pernah naksir dan nembak Rio lewat surat. Tapi, suratnya malah dibaca kenceng-kenceng di depan anak-anak sekelas lainnya (ya amponnn!). Part lucunya si Rio sampe hafal isi surat itu dan dijadikan senjata sama dia buat ngancem Yuki biar mau deket-deket lagi sama dia.

SINOPSIS

Secret of The 7th Lesson - Story 1

Secret of The 7th Lesson - Story 2

Secret of The 7th Lesson - Story 3

Benarkah demikian? Kenapa ketika Eri mendapati hatinya kesal saat mendapati Kaoru dekat dengan beberapa teman perempuannya? Bukankah mereka berduanya hanyalah teman sejak kecil? Mampukah Eri jujur pada perasaannya sendiri?

About You

Mampukah Yuki menjalani hari-harinya dibawah tekanan Rio? Mengapa Rio nampak begitu senang mengerjai Yuki? Apa sebenarnya salah Yuki terhadap Rio?

Hi readers! There are 3 short stories in this book but the main story tells about the love story of a female student and her teacher. The typical manga shows the struggle of the female lead to become friendly and feel lonely at the same time. I love the art, all the main characters were so attractive even tho I kinda hate the male lead in the second story because he was too friendly to other girls. The plot was okay but I was hoping the guys get jealous of her girl rather than the female lead being jealous of the male lead and making a messy confession which is embarrassing.

I have to say this manga was such a Shoujo manga. I mean like seriously, crazyyyy Shoujo. It was meant to be cute and bubbly and such.

HAHAHAH, I fell for it though. It was fun while it lasted and Jun is so cute. LOL. So the whole story was about a loner girl pretending to be a popular girl. Jun(her teacher) sees right through the act and "connects" with her.

The ending was wayyy corny and cute. I hope everything works out for them in the end LOL. :D

This Manga, was so funny. I read it with one of my friends and we loved the humor of Techer/Student. My Favorite part: "Ah, you're crying. What kind of teacher am i to make you cry. Its okay I'll cry now, too!"
It was so funny
