'Unconditional Love' is a very rare thing, but the few who live it, know what 'true love' is.
Songwriter Brooke Davenport's fiancé has left her for another woman. She's devastated, but this is not the first time a man she's loved has broken her heart.
Tristan Jameson, her brother's best friend, crushed her dreams on the seventeenth summer of her life when he disappeared without so much as a phone call or note to her, or her brother. What could've happened that he left in such haste especially after finally winning him over to confess his love for her?
Now he's back in town and Brooke wants an explanation. Will she be able to forgive him? After having been jilted twice by the two men she trusted her heart to, will she ever give her trust and love to a man ever again—much less to one who hurt her once before?
As Brooke and Tristan record her duet song together, memories flood her mind and sensual desires surge through her body for the man who she had a crush on since he was a boy—her first love—the one no girl ever forgets.
Get ready for a roller coaster ride with curve balls and twists and turns as mystery and suspense come into play in this endearing story of true love and romance. No cliffhanger; HEA ending! =)
Honestly I consider myself a good person. I help when I can and I don't get on the way if I can't offer help. But I'm not a selfless person and neither a martyr. I don't have a Mother Teresa of Calcutta "syndrome" so no, I would never offer for my husband to go back to his ex because she got back with a terminal disease. The best I could do is tell her to find a good doctor, hospital or hospice. Sorry but NOT sorry. The doormat here seems she's all the things I am not and I mentioned above. I can't relate to these kind of people.

So basically I finished this book in a day. Not because I loved it but because I really hoped that the ending was good. Sadly I was disappointed. I mean I hated the fact that there were to many twists to the story and it became very ridiculous at some point. And then near te end when Tristans life is changed with his new addition of a son that is not Brookes. I mean I hated that part. And that Brooke was so okay with it? I mean come on that does not happen in real life. It definitely does not! No women in her healthy mind will except what she did. As much as the author tried to make Brooke a true hero the thing is that it just made her look dumb. In more than one part of the book. The story should have been left at Ayonas return with no baby. That was just too much. I am sorry but I hated that twist. I would have felt better if Tristan and Brooke worked on their relationship more than having all those twist. I did not feel their connection at all. So to summarize I will not be reading this book again. I do not recommend it to people that want a true love story.
I was given this book to read in exchange for an honest review!
This book had everything I love in a good book, love, (of course), mystery, angst & great characters! You will fall in love with the lead female, Brooke. I was rooting for Brooke from the beginning and she was a strong female character, which I love, too! So, In the beginning she finds out her fiance is cheating on her. She starts getting in to writing music to ease the pain and move on. Then her brother has her first love come after not seeing him for 3 yrs, to help her with a duet. I don't want to give too much away, but things were left unsettled between the two and a lot has happened in the time they were apart, A LOT! We get to have a glimpse in the past of when they were teenagers, which I love, also! Like I said, a lot happens and it's intense, but exciting and was a great storyline! With a great ending!!!I definitely recommend this book!!!
This book was a decent read. The plots and twists were twists alright and I just kept thinking "Are you serious??" So, unfortunately, it just became too much for me, especially near the end. I found the POV rather boring. In fact, I was annoyed by Brooke several times...especially during the flashbacks when she was younger. It was like she was talking to me and I didn't like that so much. Some parts of the book felt rushed. I could have used more of an explanation about Peter and his being involved with the heroine's parents. There weren't too many typos, which is a plus.
The storyline was great. It just needs a little more help with the flow and I felt like half of the book was informing us of the past. I also felt like some chapters were broken up just to break them up. The flow from chapter to chapter could be better.
The Tristan and 2nd life scene and it being brought into the present towards the end of the book, I didn't care for. In fact, i found myself annoyed. There were too many twists and I didn't like the plot twist. I didn't really see or feel the love between her and Tristan, so maybe some editing on that part would be something to work on??
And Peter.....how in the world did he flip from sweet Peter to scary Peter right back to sweet Peter?
My major issues with the book were: not feeling the love between them and the POV. I would def still read more from this author.
The story has lots of interesting twist and turns but I did not like it overall. The twists kept adding up and I stopped buying into them after a while. My biggest issue though was I cannot connect to a self-sacrificing, mother Teresa character who keeps getting screwed over in life but continues to make selfless choices. Please check out my full review as I explain my thoughts in a more detailed manner. This was not a "bad" book but was simply one I did not enjoy.
Overall I enjoyed this book. I liked the concept of the story line and I liked the characters. The book starts off at the end of Brooke's engagement to Peter (her 2nd love). Peter breaks of the engagement because he met someone else. This was the supposed reason. You read about how they met and their relationship in the first few chapters. I personally didn't need all the info given on Peter and Brooke but that was me. A important info would've been enough for me.You learn later in the book that this was all a lie and a cover.
The book then goes into Brooke healing over losing Peter and her first love, Tristan showing back up. Tristan was her love from childhood who suddenly up and left with no explanation. The book recaps Brooke and Tristan's road to love and then moves into the present when Landon (her brother) bring him back to help her sing a duet. Brooke is a songwriter. From here you see them trying to find their way back. Tristan drops a bomb on Brooke about being in love with another and that she was murdered and pregnant. He also tells her his story of why he disappeared and that his dad was also murdered. The twist in the story w/ all the CIA and secret agencies was a little confusing for me on who was involved in what and why.
Later in the book, Brooke and Tristan learn that his 2nd love and his child are alive as she comes back and of course she is dying and wants Tristan. Brooke is selfless and gives him back for this short time.
In the end you get the HEA with a few tears or for me there were. I did feel parts of the book were rushed. Especially towards the end where I would've like more detail, such as the cover ups and the Peter "situation" in his apartment. The relationship and dialogue b/t Brooke, her brother Landon, and Tristan is great. I enjoyed the banter and conversations they would have.

OMG! WOW! This book turned out to be absolutely nothing like I expected! It is an heartfelt love story with a major twist.
Okay, so the story starts with Girl thinks her happily ever after is here...Boy says sorry met someone new.
Life goes on, Girl is reunited with the crush from her youth...Girl reminisces.
So here I was thinking current guy - Peter - is an ass and breaks Brooke's heart. I figured okay so she has to mend her heart and move on. Big brother Landon takes her back under his wing and helps her to get her focus back on her career - writing songs - and figures that the perfect guy for her to do a duet with is his best mate Tristan...and her first love...Well with Tristan on the scene I figured we would hear why he walked away all those years ago...Brooke would forgive him and they would live happily ever after...BUT...I was at 50% and realised that there was soooo much more to this story.
So I read on and, again, OMG! what a freaking twist. The secrets that unfold I sooooo did not see coming...and they keep coming and coming...and just when you think that's it there cannot be any more...BAM! another twisted turn in the story.
I absolutely adore Brooke - she is not some whimsical woman waiting for Prince charming - BUT she does not what her heart wants. Landon is the adorable big brother that every girl wishes she had. Tristan is quite the enigma...though we gradually but never quite completely get to know who he really is - I hated him and I loved him, I was frustrated with him and then felt great compassion for him.
Ms Lorin has written an amazing story here, I promise you that you will want to read and read and read - because you just have to know why and how and who - it's just that kind of book! An awesome read that will stick with me for a very long time!

Spoiler Alert
This was an intense/emotional/ romance- suspenseful story.
It begins with Brooke getting dumped by her fiancé and then rewinds back to her childhood love and continues into when she met her former fiancé then back to the present: She is a song writer and her brother decides that her first love (his best friend ) should be the one to help her write a duet. She is of course pissed that he surprised her with Tristan's presence after Tristan left her suddenly without explanation just as their relationship had begun more than 5 years prior.
Well I thought this was going to be the typically I'm pissed at you but I'll get over it and we get back together and live happily ever after quickly. I was surprisingly wrong in a good way.
This story does have a very happy ending but the journey it takes to get there is very complex.
Once Tristan's back in Brooke's life the author rewinds to Brooke's childhood where her brother, Tristan and herself grew up together. They were like best friends except Brooke always knew she wanted Tristan and when she became a teenager she began to pursue him. He was older and resisted her till she graduated from h.s. and once there romance began he suddenly left. During the time that he is gone: her parents are killed in a car accident and her fiancé leaves her for "another women."
Here's where it gets really interesting: Later in the story she finds out that there is a deep connection between her parents death, Tristans sudden departure and Peter breaking their engagement.
Rated 4 instead of 5 because I would have liked less information about brother and more details when Tristan and Brooke were intimate.
I got this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.
The premise/blurb of this book is really good and I was really looking forward to reading it. I liked the 3 main characters for the most part – Brook the “heroine”, Landon her brother and Tristan the “hero/love interest.” I enjoyed each of these characters and their back and forths were great. Seriously the friendship that the brother and sister have was awesome and something most people would crave for. Now the story line was good in some parts and so horribly jumbled in others. The end of Chapter 36 – really…really…so not happening! I was with the book saying ok; it’s strange but the stories not bad. The ending of this chapter is so freaking unbelievable I’m out. The only reason I finished the book was to see how it ended, was all the drama worth it. The story jumps around in a few places but the ending wraps everything up so you don’t have a wanting ending. It was an ok book, not one I will go back and read though.

We start off with the ending of a long term relationship between Brooke and Peter. They've been together for 5 years and were engaged. Peter met someone new. He felt worthless for many reasons that we won't delve into. He sounded a little sensitive to me. Brooke has no choice but to move on. She lives with her brother in her parents' house. They died a few years earlier. An unexpected "friend" shows back up after not a word for 5 years. Brooke is torn because she was/is in love with him. We get a good history of how there relationship was. I enjoyed that part of the story. I loved the banter between Brooke, Landon, and Tristan. They're all witty and sarcastic which I can relate to. Brooke is just getting used to having Tristan back when he delivers some mind-blowing news. I won't go into specifics as I don't want to ruin the story. But this is where I wish we would have gotten more history on everything. We hear about Tristan's family, but I would have enjoyed knowing more about Brooke and Landon's.
Overall, I enjoyed the story. It was hard to put down as I wanted to know what was going to happen next. I also liked the fact that we got more story and not so much steamy sex scenes. That seems to be the trend lately. While I enjoy a good steamy scene every once in a while, I enjoy having a good story to go along with it as well. Terra did a great job. I'll be looking forward to more from her in the future.
I liked the book enough that I finished it in 1 day. There were some twist and turns and “OMG did that just happen?” or “Are you Serious?” throughout the whole book.
It starts off with Brooke’s fiancé breaking up with her after telling Brooke that he has been in a relationship for 6 months with someone else. Brooke is then miserable and writes a couple songs about it. Brooke’s brother insists that it should be duet and tells her he knows the right guy for the job. What Brooke didn’t expect was to see Tristan her brothers best friend and the love of her life. Brooke has always had feelings for Tristan and the summer before she went to college he finally showed her that he had feelings for her too. That was right before he just vanished. No phone calls or emails to Brooke to say bye or where he was going. So when Tristan shows up 6 years later to sing duet with her it takes her by surprise. Tristan has lot of secrets and has to tell Brooke why he left her. This is where the OMG starts and doesn’t end til the end of the book.
I LOVED the relationship with Brooke and her brother Landon. I feel that kind of made the book. This book defiantly had some twist that kept you want to keep reading. It also made me pissed off multiple time. I went through the emotional rollercoaster with this book. I laughed, got mad and even cried. I would recommend this book because its not your average love story its defiantly different from the norm.

This story begins with an end. The end of the relationship between Brooke and Peter, but Brooke is used to the men she loves leaving her, it's all she's ever know. You see although she has had years of loving Peter, she has never let go of her first love.....Tristan. He was Landon's (her brother) best friend. She grew up loving Tristan and was pretty sure he had feelings for her too. He just never acknowledge those feeling until the summer before she left for college. She finally gets her love reciprocated and then, poof......Tristan vanishes. After years of moving on with her life, finding love again only to loose it once more Brooke is done. Done with love and done with men. Little did she know love wasn't done with her.....enter Tristan once again. Tristan has so many secrets. Secrets that can and have killed people. Secrets that will shock the two people he cares for the most. It was difficult for me to read some of these secrets and made me feel so sad for all those involved. Life sure did give these people a crappy hand. I was given a copy of this book for an honest review and here it is. If you like a story that will keep you guessing. One that will make you say WTF often. One that will make you cry and wonder just how much more can one person take before she breaks in two. This is the story for you!
*I was gifted this lovely book from the author for an honest review.
I really loved this book. :) It's so hard to go into any detail about why I loved it because I would give away too many spoilers. It had me laughing, crying, absolutely pissed off, excited, and nervous throughout the entire book. I felt the same emotions that the narrator Brooke was feeling. I sometimes will find that I really want to like the main character of a book, but they just come off as too childish or annoying. I didn't feel that way in this book. Everything about Brooke was great. I felt like I connected with her and could feel her pain and her joy. I was able to understand her thoughts and feelings, where in other books I have found that I'm constantly asking "why on earth would she say that or feel that way?" This is definitely not your typical book where you can pretty much figure out everything that is going to happen and is too predictable. If you start reading this book with that mindset, you will for sure be pleasantly surprised to find out you are completely wrong. :)

I fell in love with Brooke she was a great lead character. The book begins with Brooke finding out her fiancé is cheating on her and her brother has her first love (Tristan) come back to help her with her music and do a duet after not seeing him for 5 years. In the book we get to see in the past of when they were first together, how thing were left between them and what happened while they were apart (which is A LOT). I love Landon I thought he was an awesome big brother and I would want to read more about him The one person in the book I didn’t like was Ayona I thought she was selfish in what she was asking from Tristan and Brooke.
This book was very well written but it lost me a bit in the middle with all the drama with her parents and peter and his dad which is why i give it 4 stars but I still really liked it and in the end you get the HEA which I believe all books should have. I am looking forward to reading more from this author.
This book surprised me. Usually When I read a book I can't be surprised. If given enough times to think about the story I usually see where it is going. That wasn't the case with this book. I definitely did not see most of the twists and turns and was kept on my toes.
As for the overall story, I enjoyed it. The character development was good and so was the writing. From the first chapter I was hooked and wanted to know where the story would lead. I have to say that after a 'certain some' reenters their life I was a bit frustrated that the main story took a back burner and we had to spend so much time in the past, however once things came to light it made sense why the author chose that course. Other than that I felt the story flowed well but I did feel that the choice Brooke made at the end felt, for the lack of better words, too perfect. I am not sure I would have been that big of a person....

Any book that has me putting down my Kindle, and walking away muttering What the F! Crying, saying AWE!! and WHAT the F! all over again multiple times and in the end giving me "warm fuzzies" deserves Five stars from this reader.
I feel like I kind of got a little of everything in this book. I get my scorned love both when Peter tells Brooke he has been cheating and when Tristan just disappears. I get my sappy love story ( I mean that in the best way I promise) with the telling of Brooke and Tristan's love (before he just vanishes...really who does that?) Second chance at love when out of know where Brooke's older brother Landon brings Tristan back. Then we get twists and turns and tears and no more without ruining it. I assure you all the the wtfs and walking aways and tears paid off with a happy ending and no cliffhanger! Great read!!!
If you are looking for a fast romantic read with some twist and turns this would be a good book for you.
I liked this book overall but there were some things that bothered me about it. I am into books that are realistic to human nature and as this book went on Brooke became too much of a saint for me when it came to Tristan especially at the end. I also found the whole spy thing a bit unrealistic and really not needed. For me it was not really explained as well as I would have liked. I am into suspense books and I realize this was more of a romance story but if the suspense part is going to be added go with it all the way just don't throw things in there so you have that part in the book to add more to it.
I did like the humor in the book and the sass that Brooke's character had throughout the book. I also enjoyed her relationship with her brother. It almost could have been turned into a chick lit book if it just focused on how close they were throughout the story.
Brooke is a strong woman, Landon is the perfect brother. The one a girl would love to have. Landon's best friend Tristan is every woman's dream. Brooke's love for Tristan is strong, and what she does for love shows how true it is. Sometimes in life we have to let go and move on. And believe things will come back. Well this is the book for that. It has love, hope, pain and family. All feelings that comes with life. It was great to see a strong woman but still hurt and show it. But the strength to pick up and move on. You have to believe in something and this story shows you that true love is out there it just doesn't come easy. Sometimes it takes a guy having it thrown in his face to realize how they feel. Well I loved the story, I cried and loved and felt so much reading this book. It was a refreshing story. Look forward to hearing how Landon's life goes. He deserves happiness.
I was given this book for an honest review so here goes: Everyone knows that you never truly get over or forget your first love no matter how long t has been since you have moved on, and that is what Brooke and Tristan have TRUE LOVE the one thing they will never get over and be without each other. This book was full of mystery, heart break and undying love. You will fall in love with Brooke just like Tristan does and I can totally see why she is amazing, understand and truly unselfish. Lets not forget about Tristan's sexy self he is totally on my book boyfriend list. That man really can do no wrong and always had Brooke's best interests in mind. In the end you get the HEA which I am all for and it was beautiful. This book was very well written and I absolutely loved every bit of it. Looking forward to reading more from the author..
I was given this book in exchange for an honest review.
There are definitely parts of this book that I liked- the love between Brooke and her brother, the feeling of innocence of first love. But I felt that at times the story was rushed. I felt like characters were sometimes unrealistically trusting in order to push the story along. This was not your typical romance - lots of twists that I didn't see coming. It kept you guessing, but some of the plot twists made you leave behind your sense that this could happen in real life. Overall a decent story, but I think I would have liked it just a little more if it had gone a bit deeper with the characters and situations and maybe stayed a little more realistic.
*Received a copy of this book from the author for an honest review.* There were some aspects of this book that I enjoyed and some not so much.
I liked the whole mystery about what happened to Tristan and I liked the overall plot of the story, I really felt for Tristan because of what was done to him and I applaud Brooke for her unselfishness. I loved the relationship between Brooke and Landon. I loved him.
I didn't like that it was sort of rushed at some parts, and sometimes it was a little unbelievable. I was sitting there thing 'oh come on!!'
But the ending was sweet and I'm glad all was well for them. I hope to read about Landon next. Please, please Terra!
Overall it was a nice afternoon read and I enjoyed it.
I received this e book in exchange for an honest review.
Wow, where it start?!? What an emotional roller coaster. I loved this story!! Tristan was soooo sweet! I even loved Landen. I loved his and Brooke's close relationship. He's like the brother i always wanted. There were so many twists and turns through this story that i was kept guessing the whole time and honestly never had any idea what was going to happen.
Brooke was so sweet. I am truly amazed at how selfless she was. There is NO way I would have been able to do what she did. I mean, honestly I don't think people like that even exist anymore. It was refreshing to read about her!
I wish there was more to read because I'm not ready for Brooke and Tristan's story to be over. Maybe we'll get a Landen story?!?
I received a copy on return for an honest review!! Let me first say wow! Very emotional! What a roller coaster ride. I was hoping for more details. But I loved the story, how it flowed and the characters. It starts with Brooke being dumped by her long term boyfriend/ fiancée. Then she takes a trip down memory lane to tell us how she ended up in the situation she is about to get in. Landon is Brooke's very supportive brother. Peter is Brooke's ex fiancée with a hidden agenda. Tristian is the love of her life; he also has been gone for 5 yrs without contacting Brooke. Who shows up when Landon calls him to help Brooke do a duet. However he has been through a lot since her left. But his love for Brooke has never changed.
I recieved this book in exchange for an honest review. Overall, I liked this book, it was a nice read. I liked Brooke, I loved her relationship with her brother, Landon. Brooke lets go of her first love,Tristan, after he leaves town. She has a long term relationship with Peter. Peter turns out to not be the man she thought he was. When Tristan returns on the scene , Brooke is thrown for a loop, and has to come to grips with her feelings for Tristan. There are many twists ,turns, and secrets that are revealed. I would recommend this book, despite a few frustrating moments. When You Loved Me
Do you remember your first love? You know the one when you were just aware that being with them or just seeing him would make your heart race and flutter? Well, this is the story of Brooke's first love and what happens years later when he comes back into her life. The thrilling part is not only the love that won't be denied, but the factors that came into play to cause the death of her parents. This is a mystery that has gone unsolved for years and has haunted Brooke and her brother Landon. A must read for anyone who enjoys a good mystery/thriller and romance story.

I absolutely loved this book! Once I started it I couldn't put it down as I just had to know what was going to happen next. Lots of twists and turns and in some bits I did have to re-read a few pages so I could understand what was happening.
I cried tears from laughing so much, tears of heartbreak (ugly tears!) and tears of joy. In some bits my jaw dropped gasping!!!
Was a nice change from the standard romance novels and will definitely be recommending this book to friends :)
What started out as a fairly normal young girls falls for older brothers best friend story line . Changes quite heart warmingly when the feeling are eventually recipicated.Unfortunately there are some quite traumatic events that happen along they way as they are forced to live two completely different lives as cruel dangers lingers and forces seperation.Music helps Brooke to deal with her feeling she writes from the heart. It is a must read.Don't want to give too much away so won't say anything more .
